RSS Figures For May

June 7, 2013

By Paul Homewood

RSS global temperatures dropped from 0.219C in April to 0.139C in May, following a similar drop in UAH numbers. It will be interesting to see whether GISS and HADCRUT follow suit.

The 2003-12 average for RSS is 0.243C, so, given the currently neutral ENSO conditions, current temperatures are running significantly lower. Compared to the 1981-2010 baseline, the latest temperature is a tiny 0.039C higher. Without the cooling brought about by El Chichon and Pinatubo during the 1980’s and 90’s, the current temperature would in all probability actually be lower.

It was not supposed to be like this.
