The Criminal Huhne Lands £100K Job With Biomass Company
By Paul Homewood
Just out of prison, the ex Secretary of State for Energy & Climate Change has landed a new job, as Chairman of Europe, for the American biomass company, Zilkha.
According to the Mail, he will earn £100K pa for a two day week.
Zilkha are based in Texas and specialise in the production of wooden pellets for use in power plants. Biomass, of course, is one of the big winners from the charge to renewable energy, that Huhne has done so much to pursue.
In government, Huhne made no secret of his desire to increase targets for CO2 reduction. For instance, he has supported Connie Hedegaard, the EU’s Climate Commissioner, attempts to increase carbon reduction targets from 20% to 30% by 2020.
He still wields a great deal of influence both within the Lib Dem party and at the EU Commission and European Parliament, where he was MEP till 2005.
Which rather raises the question? How much money will Zilkha, and in turn Huhne, make from the policies he has done so much to promote, and will no doubt continue to.
