So presumably Kathy wants us all to return to the good old days before the Industrial Revolution. Is she so ignorant that she does not know how nasty, short and brutish life was in those halcyon days?

Is she not aware of the grinding poverty, widespread disease and lack of proper medicine? Or the backbreaking labour that left most people crippled by their 30’s?

Has she forgotten the lack of clean water and sanitation, which resulted in typhus and cholera epidemics?

Does she not know about the famines that killed millions at a time?

It is thanks to the Industrial Revolution that we have put all these things behind us, and can all enjoy the comfortable lifestyles we take for granted.

If Katharine wants to be a political activist and peddle this sort of mindless Marxism, that is up to her. But if she does, it must surely fatally compromise the objectivity she needs in her role as a publically funded scientist at Texas Tech.

She needs to make her mind up which she wants to be.

I have to wonder if they are mentally ill, or just poorly educated about History that they actually believe life would be better.
I also wonder just how many of modern life’s benefits she and her ilk take advantage of, all of them I expect and more often than the average human.

How did Gingrich ever get in bed with her?

It would be appropriate and just if a consortium formed from those ninety companies took Ms Hayhoe and her employer to court where a robust & high profile case could be brought.

But is Kathy as Marxist as our Kev?

    http://www.theguardian.com/environment/2013/nov/21/climate-change-2c-rise

Comrade Kev says wealthy parts of the world have to reduce emissions by 10% a year, and go into recession. As if their emissions are worse than those from say China or India.

“Is she so ignorant that she does not know how nasty, short and brutish life was in those halcyon days?”

Of course she knows. The reason why those brutal times are not a factor in her agenda is not because she is ignorant. It is just that she does not care.

Where did these numbers, 2/3 and 90, come from? Thin air or elsewhere?
Did she have graduate students recreate the history of these companies and all their various parts, acquisitions, mergers, and dissolutions? For example, BP has only existed in its current structure for about 14 years.

Next, the lady offers an “it does not follow” (aka a Non sequitur) statement:
    “That’s why divesting works!”
Maybe she speaks in code, but this makes no sense. She shares mental ability with a stump.
“Divesting” is an investing (or un-investing) strategy being promoted by weepy Bill Mc. and others to, it seems, damage the finances of universities so as to force tuition increases and decrease funding for deserving students.

I hear North Korea is very nice this time of year if you are an Environmentalist, curiously, I haven’t heard of Kathy and her like queuing up outside the NK embassy to take up citizenship.

Perhaps they don’t really fancy the idea of having to eat grass and soil after all…

Her mental image must be of permanent vacations in bucolic country cottages, with, magically, all the conveniences.
