“Remarkably Strong Jet Stream” Bringing Stormy Weather To UK

The BBC have a short and informative video, explaining the recent run of stormy weather in the UK. It’s only a minute long, so well worth a look.

For those who can’t watch it, John Hammond explains that it is the position of the jet stream over the UK that is bringing a series of storms. He calls it,
“A weather machine. It’s a conductor rod for storms”.
None of this is any great surprise. The Met Office say the same:
What is the jet stream?
The jet stream is a band of fast moving westerly winds high up in the atmosphere which circle around the pole in the northern hemisphere. It can feature winds of up to 200 knots (230 mph) or more, and these winds tend to guide wet and windy weather systems which come in off the Atlantic.
The jet moves around a fair bit and its position can have a big impact on weather here in the UK depending on where it is.
If the jet is over the UK or just to the south, we tend to get a lot of wet and windy conditions as it brings weather systems straight to us. If the jet is to the north of us, it guides that changeable weather away to the north to leave the UK with more settled conditions.
What’s the jet stream doing now?
Unsurprisingly given the outlook for the next week, with a succession of Atlantic depressions passing by to the northwest of Scotland, the jet is positioned to the northwest of the UK too.
As you can see from the picture below, the jet currently swoops east from Canada – swinging northeast over the Atlantic towards the UK.
But what is interesting comes at about 1.10 into the video, where John Hammond tells us:
“And as long as we’ve got this remarkably strong jet stream, we can expect further stormy weather. And I have to say, there’s no sign of that jet stream slowing down in the near future”
A remarkably strong jet stream? That’s strange, because it was only a couple of months ago that Jennifer Francis was telling us that “melting Arctic ice” was leading to a weaker, meridional jet stream. This would create weather blocking conditions, leading to cold winters and long periods of wet or dry weather.
Of course, Arctic ice extent was much greater in September than last year, but, as Jennifer herself pointed out, ice extent is still much lower than it was in the early part of the satellite record.
So it seems that variations in the jet stream are, simply, weather. Back to the drawing board, Jennifer!

Thanks, Paul, it is hard to imagine that any serious scientists would ignore the Sun’s dominant influence on Earth’s climate.
If you haven’t read Fred Hoyle’s autobiography, “Home Is Where the Wind Blows, I urge you to study pp. 153-154 to see how the internal composition of the Sun changed from iron (Fe) in 1945 to hydrogen (H) in 1946, without discussion or debate.
AFAIK a weaker jetstream is indeed predicted by smaller temperature gradient (equator to pole), but the resulting js has a larger _amplitude_, so it is felt over a wider belt of latitudes. John Hammond might be merely commenting on the stronger than long term average js seen over the UK at present. If only we lived on a flat earth, predictions would be so much easier!
They keep telling us the Jetstreams moved but never tell us Why or how ,the truth is that there are technologies that are being used daily though Geoengineering manipulation and the Use of the HAARP arrays around the world , as a weather force multiplier in conjunction with Chemtrailing were really in trouble ,i would suggest following the money who gains from the flooding for me its all Agenda 21 driven indeed there is EU legislation to let flood plains flood from as early as 2000;;
