Bob Ward Forgets 1903

November 27, 2014

By Paul Homewood

According to Bob Ward, global warming propagandist for the Grantham Foundation,

The trend for wetter weather is being caused by climate change. The very wet and warm year we are experiencing is part of a pattern. The seven warmest years and four of the five wettest years on record so far have all occurred from 2000 onwards. Climate change means the UK is now about one degree warmer on average than in 1970, and the warmer atmosphere holds more water, leading to heavier rainfall.

That would no doubt explain why the wettest month in England & Wales since 1766 was October 1903, with November 1852 in second place.

Thee have been five months above 150mm in the last decade, out of a total of 98 since 1766, slightly above the mean of 3.9/decade. This figure is perfectly normal historically, and has been equalled or exceeded in ten other decades. Indeed between 1910 and 1959, every decade had at least five months with >150mm.

But none of this matters to Bob, as he is not interested in facts.

    Paul,

Lock-step consensus science and the global climate scandal are the result of little-known events in 1922 and 1945:

    1. Aston’s PROMISE & WARNING (12 Dec 1922); Unreported CHAOS and FEAR (August 1945) https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/10640850/CHAOS_and_FEAR_August_1945.pdf

    2. In researching their book, “The Flight of the Hog Wild,” Bill Streifer and Irek Sabitov recently discovered an intriguing response from the official Communist newspaper of the Soviet Union – Izvestia – published on 13 Oct 1946, ten days after David Snell exposed in the Atlanta Constitution on 3 Oct 1946 the CHAOS and FEAR that gripped world after Stalin’s USSR troops captured Japan’s atomic bomb plant at Konan, Korea:

    Anyone can play this game.

Wettest year at a Washington State station: 185″ at Wynoochee Oxbow in 1931. [That’s on the west, or Pacific Ocean, side of the Olympic Mountains.]

Hottest temperature ever recorded: 118 F at Ice Harbor Dam on 5 August 1961 and at Wahluke on 24 July 1928. [Both places in the south-central part of WA.]

Then there is this – a somewhat larger region:

The Great Flood of 1862 was the largest flood in the recorded history of Oregon, Nevada, and California, . . .”
The following link shows the documentation for a modern simulation of the historical storm.

To claim that the UK is 1 Celsius warmer than in 1970 is surely ludicrous? Does he mean Farenheit I wonder, and even then …….
Is he being doubly tricky I wonder and not meaning “since 1970” but merely as compared with that one single year?
Either way this really does not look terribly trustworthy does it?

Obviously, in a global cooling period, such as has arrived, there is more condensation at the lower latitudes,

so also more rain at the places that are normally “wet”, such as W-Europe and eastern USA.

The claim made about more rain due to (natural) climate change is true, but it seems to me that only by accident he (Bob) got it right.

I am not sure if Bob Ward was referring to CET when he made the claim that temperatures are about 1c warmer than average than in 1970, but this year’s figure looks like being 11c (if the anomaly for December is about the same as November) and the figure for 1970 was 9.57c, so taking individual years it is true.
However, if you take the average of the last 10 years, which would be 10.16c the difference is only about 0.5c.
It is also interesting that while this year as a whole may be an all time high, none of the individual months will be. Consequently, the high annual figure is more the result of lack of low temperatures than the presence of high ones.
That said, I expect the M.O. and others to claim it is a result of “global warming” when it is more likely to be the result of prevailing wind direction and the general weather patterns which are bringing below normal temperatures to other regions.

I wouldn’t believe anything Bob Ward says. His sole job is to sell climate alarmism on behalf of his boss, Jeremy Grantham, who is making a fortune out of the climate scam. Bob Ward is a propagandist, nothing less and nothing more. Truth, evidence and facts mean nothing to him. He gave up on science years ago.
