It seems the EU, inevitably cheer led by the ridiculously biased Harrabin, now have their sites on our coffee pots:

The new EU rules even extend to the coffee machine. Drip filter machines with non-insulated jugs must power down 40 minutes after the end of the last brewing cycle.

Domestic drip-filter coffee machines with insulated jugs – which keep the coffee warm and preserve its taste without further heating – must switch off after five minutes.

Coffee drinkers may be alarmed by the changes, but the Commission claims consumers will not even notice, as coffee in drip-filter machines without an insulated jug is undrinkable after 40 minutes anyway.

It surely does not take a genius to work out that if your coffee machine turns itself off after five minutes, then you’ll pretty quickly empty it and brew another pot. And how much electricity will that save, Mr Harrabin?

Insane of course! But no worse than the low temp clothes washers which require strong chemical additives if clothes are to be sanitised properly.

The EU is under the misguided opinion that just because the aroma of coffee decays with time, its flavour does too.

I don’t know about Brussels bureaucrats, but I (drip) brew my coffee to drink it, not sniff it.

The BBC might as well hire a parrot to unquestionably publicise EU policy, rather than pay Harrabin to do the same thing.

    Or just microwave to rewarm.

I don’t drink coffee but do make a cup for dunking morning toast. I use a microwave, heat water – and reheat as necessary.
For the folks that do drink coffee, I say ….
Coffee drinkers of the world – unite!

Seriously, do these folks not have anything better to do?

I believe that Mr Harrabin’s name is spelt incorrectly … apparently, the correct spelling is Hairbrain ! [ Drumroll | Cymbols !]

Next time, these stupid EU Commision people are to issue a law regulating tooth brush usage on planet Mars, in case some martians live there…..

I am waiting for them to ban Christmas lights, specially all these outside ones on peoples roofs. Also power showers and patio heaters. Of course they wouldn’t dare – would they? They will be known as the New Puritans.

Do these regulations apply to Charlie Windsor’s coffee enema machine?
