Back in 2007, the Union of Concerned Scientists published their “Confronting Climate Change in the US Northeast”, for which Katharine Hayhoe was Co-lead of the Climate Team.

It stated:

Katharine, of course, did her usual trick of starting her trends from the cold 1970’s.

However, since the report was published, winter temperatures have pretty much gone downhill, and not just this year. Four of the last seven winters have been below the 30-year average.

Katharine told us at the time that warmer winters and less snow were consistent with global warming. Now, apparently she knows better and tells us that global warming is making winters colder!

    Yup, we are roasting to death with average temperatures around -5ºF all month long last month.

    This is why global warming has been rebranded as climate change.

    After reading every one of your blogs for the last year, I feel I ought to say you are not alone in battling this rubbish. You probably need the occasional reminder that we are out there rooting with you and so, so glad that you are engaged in, indeed committed to, exposing the speciousness of the climate changers. It’s good to know there is still a real world carrying on with business as usual.

      Yes, thank you, Paul. I am also a newer blog reader. Thanks for your contribution.

    She doesn’t know better, it’s just that everything is consistent with global warming.

      Yes, the steep decline in the number of 90ºF+ days across most of North America is a sign of ‘global warming’ but only if you are totally insane.

    Thanks, Paul. Very good article.
    One thing should be clear by now; it is impossible to predict the weather based on the IPCC climate models. Not just because their scenarios don’t even resemble reality, once it happens, but because weather is not the “noise” on “climate”;
    “Weather is climate. More specifically, aggregations of weather are climate. Means, averages, and distributions of daily weather comprise climate.”
    From Actually, Weather Is Climate (William M. Briggs, Statistician & Consultant. Jan. 22, ’10)
    http://pjmedia.com/blog/actually-weather-is-climate/

    Joe Bastardi’s Saturday Summary for March 7 (3/7) is forecasting a 20 days return to deep winter conditions for the Northeastern USA starting from March 18-22.

    All those ups and downs and basically we are back to where we were in 1935! I would say a state of unusual climate stability for the last 80 years.
