Under the glorious future John Gummer and his chums at the Committee on Climate Change have in store for us, one third of new cars will be plug in by 2025.

He has got a long way to go!

According to the SMMT, registrations of plug in cars last year rose to a remarkable 14518, out of a total of 2,476,435 new cars registered, a pathetic 0.58%. This is despite the govt (for which, read taxpayer) chucking a subsidy of £5000 at anyone buying electric cars, something that will be totally unsustainable at much higher sales volumes.

Still, we’ll be alright, Gummer has another cunning plan!

I think this has something to do with hedgehogs!

How does one apply to be amongst the 4 in 5 drivers trained to be not an eco-driver?

Good spotting Paul. Do we have any figures for how many electric milk floats there were, in those far off happy days when they were purring along every urban street in Britain?

The best bit was the “Sustainable Bio Fuels”, right let’s burn food instead of FF with all the inefficiencies that has built in. The poor can starve, just so long as we can say we have something “sustainable”.
This guy lives in cloud cuckoo land.

It’s a pity that Gummer and chums are collectively too thick to realise that, unless we go for nuclear power in a big way, all the electric vehicles will be powered by fossil fuels used to generate electricity directly, or indirectly by backing up intermittent renewable generators.

My car has a set of green eco-lights on the panel. They light up and tell me that when going downhill or slowing, and I take my foot off the accelerator, I am driving in eco-mode. When accelerating and going uphill they go out and tell me I am not driving in eco-mode. The lights are about as much use as a smart meter, in that they tell me just what I already know.

If you lot think that this is bad have a look at what the Germans have in store for their citizens.
