Cooling The Past In The Faroes.

In 2003, two proper scientists wrote a paper on the climate of the Faroe Islands, which lie between Iceland and Norway.

They published this graph of air temperatures at the capital Torshavn.
And commented:
So we find confirmation of the 1925-40 warm period, and that the recent temperature rise is no more than a natural recovery from the colder 1950-80 interval.
Of course, temperatures may have risen since 2003, but the raw GISS data shows otherwise.
Below is their graph based on the raw GHCN V2 temperatures, as they appeared in 2011. (The warmest year was 2003 itself).

Now, you can probably guess where we are going here!
Clearly the above scenario cannot possibly reconcile with the apocalyptic version of a rapidly warming Arctic, ice free Arctics, blah, blah.
So, queue the fraudulent temperature adjustments!
This is what GISS now show as the “proper” version of Faroe Islands’ temperatures.

No doubt, Nick Stokes, Tom Curtis and the rest of the buffoons will be foaming at the mouth, arm waving, and trying to reassure us all that their great God of the Algorithm MUST BE RIGHT!
But I’m sorry guys, your algorithm is a busted flush. Real scientists got there well before you.
(And BTW, I have STILL had no reply from GHCN to explain how they have “arrived” at their adjustments).

The northern hemisphere 1940’s peak, again the target.
They are trying to obliterate all evidence of it.
This is extremely serious fraud and the persons responsible will have to face jail sentences or credible fines (monetary). It is no longer a laughing/joke situation. Lawyers should be involved by now.
I’ve always enjoyed good fantasy but as Coleridge observed a “willing suspension of disbelief” is a key factor. “Jail” and “fines” are not going to happen so your story line goes nowhere.

“The analysis shows the effect of GHCN adjustments on each of the 23 stations in the sample. The average station was warmed by +0.58 C/Century, from +.18 to +.76, comparing adjusted to unadjusted records. 19 station records were warmed, 6 of them by more than +1 C/century. 4 stations were cooled, most of the total cooling coming at one station, Tallahassee. So for this set of stations, the chance of adjustments producing warming is 19/23 or 83%.”

Just noticed in the Times today that the pause is over. Paul Simons, who I used to respect a lot, has followed the party line and is now stating that the Armageddon is approaching in time for Paris 2015. They also claim ice decline in arctic region…. all with no doubt or mention of alternatives.
The BBC this morning had a woman saying that the multi-year arctic ice is disappearing faster than previously thought. The brainwashing output is exponentially increasing, there are plenty of disciples who actually believe the pronouncements without question; but then questioning is prevented by the “proven science” arguement . It could cost us all a lot more money in a few years time.

fraudulent? which individual at NOAA are you accusing of fraud? I’ll gladly let him know about your accusation. Since the adjustment code was written by a couple people, let me know precisely which of these men you are accusing..

First, stop using GHCN v2 since folks dont use that.

Looking at this particular case I’d bet it was likely wrong because you are dealing with an Island and “neighbors” used for comparison may not be the best approach.
Homogenization algorithms are not designed to get the correct answer in every case. They can’t. They are designed to move answers toward the truth. Under double tests this is in fact what they do. They move estimates toward the truth. In the details, you WILL find cases that are moved away from the truth, but in aggregate the bias is reduced.
GHCN have promised several times to “explain”. But they have still failed to do so.
And remember that the Faroes adj are part of a much wider pattern of adj across a large swathe of the Arctic
Your comment about GHCN V2 is irrelevant. This is the only easy access to unadjusted data, via GISS.
The same data is available through GHCN, but it this is part of a large database which is not easy to use. (I know Nick Stokes has used this to come up with the same results).
In my view, the minimum GISS should be doing is to provide up to date raw data on their system, for comparison, just as they always used to do.
