Latest Tornado Stats – May 2015

There has been a lot of wet and stormy weather around the US South in the last few weeks, which has also brought a pick up in tornado activity.

However, for the year to date, tornado numbers are still below average.

On provisional LSR’s, only 2010, 2013 and 2014 had fewer reports since 2005.

On the longer term comparison, inflation adjusted trends, which allow for the fact that more tornadoes actually get spotted nowadays, this year is again just below average.

    Tornadoes are horrible things, good to know there have been not so many.
