Bats and other critters are essential for agriculture. Sure they can be a nuisance when their number get out of sync, but they are part of the established cycle.
Destroying so many bats could have some problematic side effects.

Agree! I would add there a “gang” made of those who keep saying that the most important factors in climate change are the CO2 or the volcanoes, for example.
