Big Bucks For Another RICO Letter Signatory

Another signatory of that letter, and yet another from George Mason University is Paul Dirmeyer, full-time Professor from the Dept of Atmospheric, Oceanic & Earth Sciences.

Note that despite being a “full-time Professor” at George Mason, he is also Senior Research Scientist at the Center for Ocean-Land-Atmosphere Sciences (COLA), where he has worked since 2001.
And who are COLA? It turns out they are part of the Institute of Global Environment & Society. IGES, run by our friend, and Dirmeyer’s fellow signatory, Jagadish Shukla.
Prior to his Professorship in 2012, Dirmeyer was regularly listed amongst the highest paid employees. And, of course, this was nearly all funded by government grants.

We can see from their latest IRS From 990 that research scientists are making well over $100,000 a year at IGES, so Dirmeyer has clearly profited greatly from the public purse over the years. Little surprise then that he is so keen for sceptics to be silenced.

NOT A LOT OF PEOPLE KNOW THAT 
It says that he’s a “Full Professor”, not that he’s full time professor. It’s a title and has to do with having tenure, not with any requirements on how much time must be spent on activities at campus. Many academics have joint appointments within and beyond their primary Institute.

He certainly does not look old enough to tie his own shoe laces let alone be in charge of a -university department, as professors were in my time.
