Leo’s Luvvies

February 29, 2016

By Paul Homewood

I wonder if he had a chance to mention it to all of the luvvies who arrived by private jet?

There are companies that actually offer specific packages to the Oscars and other film awards. For instance, Private Fly:

The price from New York is a snip at just $39219.

Then there’s Presidential Aviation, who want to roll out the red carpet for you.

They promise to jet you into one of the 11 airports in the Los Angeles area, including municipal sites to avoid traffic congestion and crowded terminals, such as Van Nuys, Burbank, Santa Monica and Long Beach. Heaven help the poor luvvies who might have to mix with us mere plebs in a crowded terminal!

Coming from farther afield? No problem.

Paramount Business Jets are more than happy to fly you in from Biggin Hill for a smidgin over 65 grand!

Of course, I am sure Mr DiCaprio would not be such a big hypocrite to have used one himself!

In the “do as I say, not as I do” category:

“Solo sailor! Leonardo DiCaprio cuts a lonesome figure as he mills about aboard his 450ft superyacht in Cannes

“But the following day Leonardo DiCaprio cut a lonely figure as he spent some solo time on the sun deck of the 450ft watercraft anchored off the Mediterranean coast of France.

Perhaps the 40-year-old movie star was taking it easy ahead of a weekend of glitzy Cannes Film Festival closing parties. […]

“Leo’s abode for the week is motor yacht Rising Sun, custom built in 2004 by Lurssen Yachts and owned by business magnate David Geffen.

“It reportedly cost $200 million to build and is the 11th largest yacht in the world.

It offers accommodation for up to 16 guests, a cinema, a wine cellar and is capable of carrying up to 45 crew members onboard.

“It also boasts a basketball court which can be transformed into a helipad if necessary.”

I have to wonder how long it will be before audiences start switching off if the Oscars continue to be a tiresome multi-hour political haranguing by ill-informed airheads beating the drum for every fashionable cause.

The main thing is that nobody takes much notice of these cretins, hence CAGW is not on the list of concerns of us mere plebs.

Not that this excuses his hypocrisy, but DiCaprio is not alone. Scroll down a bit here:

Our very own climate-obsessed, bog-standard-comprehensive-school-dodger Emma Thompson – who has even gone so far as to part purchase a one acre plot nearby Heathrow for the express intention of blocking its expansion – attending a recent luvvie award ceremony at the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills!

Like Judge Wright on defendant Basto in the Heathrow 13 case, I cannot help surmising she didn’t get there by sail power. I think also it is a fairly safe bet that she didn’t turn right when boarding the plane.

Non propter te, sed pro me.

I see they have been cherry picking, even before all the data is in!

The full data should be out in a few days, so I’ll update then
