Senator Whitehouse acquires another Fishy Income Stream

March 18, 2016

Fishy news from the States, as Resist Climate Alarmism reports:

The wife of Senator Whitehouse, notorious for his calls to lynch climate skeptics, Sandra Whitehouse, PhD, got a new job as the Chief Scientific Officer of AltaSea (Los Angeles, CA), according to this press release.  She will “work” on a consulting basis.  Apparently, Sandra Whitehouse can hold a number of such “consulting jobs” in the same time. One of them is a Senior Advisor to Ocean Conservancy (Washington, DC).  According to Ocean Conservancy’s 990 form for a year ending in June 2015, she received $235,000 for something called “Marine Spatial Planning“.  In five years ending in June 2015 she received $980,800 just from Ocean Conservancy.

Year   Amount   Services
2015   $235,000   Marine Spatial Planning
2014   $220,000   Marine Spatial Planning
2013   $175,800   Marine Spatial Planning
2012   $182,000   Marine Spatial Planning
2011   $168,000   Marine Spatial Planning
Total   $980,800    Sham

To call a spade a spade: Senator Sheldon Whitehouse takes bribes from environmentalist and other special interests.  The cover for the bribes is pseudo-scientific activity (such as “marine spatial planning”).  Senator Whitehouse projects his own values and his own behavior on the opponents of climate alarmism, and is genuinely resentful that they are not prosecuted!

AltaSea, Whitehouses’ new gig, appears to be a typical partnership between the environmentalist interests and the public money.  It has got a 50 year lease on a premier waterfront property in Los Angeles and boasts:

AltaSea’s campus is located on the 35-acre property known as City Dock No. 1 at the Port of Los Angeles. The AltaSea campus will be dedicated to uniting global marine science, education and business in state-of-the-art facilities, approved through the California environmental process.

A major donor is Annenberg Foundation, known for its support of radical leftist and environmentalist projects.  In particular, it funded Chicago Annenberg Challenge, guided by Barack Obama and Bill Ayers (a domestic terrorist leader, widely quoted as saying: “Kill all the rich people. Break up their cars and apartments. Bring the revolution home, Kill your parents.”

    According to

marine spatial planning—or marine planning—is a science-based tool that regions can use to address specific ocean management challenges and advance their goals for economic development and conservation. Just as federal agencies work with states, tribes, local governments, and others to manage forests, grasslands, and other areas, they also can use marine planning to coordinate activities among all coastal and ocean interests and provide the opportunity to share information.

I can not see much science on the site. However it is part of US Government’s ‘National Ocean Policy Implementation Plan’ and that states –

The Implementation Plan describes specific actions Federal agencies will take to address key ocean challenges, give states and communities greater input in Federal decisions, streamline Federal operations, save taxpayer dollars, and promote economic growth.

The Council developed the Implementation Plan over the past two years with extensive input from national, regional, and local stakeholders from all marine sectors; tribal, State and local governments; and the private sector, scientists and the public….

So plenty of wiggle room to filch out a legal method of gaining rights over sea and shore…
but hey, they say they are saving tax dollars!

Ayers is listed as having two adult kids. Wonder if he ever thinks about his own words coming back to haunt him?

Sheldon Whitehouse–always on the cutting edge of scientific inquiry.

As I am watching the events unfold during this political silly season here in the US I am becoming ever more alarmed. This conservative thinks that Cruz is the best of the lot for Conservatives. Yet I will hold my nose and vote for Trump if he gets the nomination. To do otherwise would have the same effect as voting for Hillary.

The Next POTUS will more than likely fill at least three Supreme Court vacancies if not four during their first term. In short the next president will have a great opportunity to skew the ideological balance in the court towards their own ideology/agendas. The thought of Hillary being empowered to do that is chilling. So those US voters that claim to be Conservative that are now saying they won’t vote for Trump if he is the Republican candidate really need to look at the implications of what they will probably help happen if they follow through on their threat.

Elections, more often than not, are about voting against someone in order to help keep them out of office. Pick the candidate that least represents your values and vote against them with the intention of keeping them out of office because if you stay home or don’t vote for Trump because you didn’t get your way then your no more than a chump for Hillary.

My thoughts as well. Although the inevitable result of this descent from reason is that a Kanye West, Cher, Kardashian, or equally vacuous “reality” personality will capture the electorate in 2020.

The movie “Idiocracy” is now a documentary.

I am registered Democrat from the early 80’s so I voted for Bernie. My hope is that Hillary is indicted, Bernie becomes the nominee, Republican conference is contested and Cruz wins.

President Cruz is the only hope to reduce and dismantle the Imperialism of Washington.

    (Without knowing the full story)
Senator Whitehouse is a stupendously stupid jerk.
His wife may not be. Well, maybe she is, but she could still be doing a job that she is trained for and deserves compensation.

Considering that the Clintons have been paid fees of $250,000 to $500,000 (some to the foundation ?) just for showing up in exotic locations and blathering about nothing for 40 minutes in front of friends, Sandra Whitehouse’s seemingly high “service” fee is likely a much better deal for the client. Such arrangements are usually for, say, 30 days of service per year – if they hold a full time job elsewhere. Those serving on boards of directors of corporations are usually compensated for their service in amounts that sound overly large to the regular person. By “regular” I mean someone taking home about $50,000 per year after all taxes and retirement money is taken out. The local small-town university has many highly paid people at the top. Their salaries seem immense when compared to the local pay scale. However, the competition for their services is national and international so we have a comparison with little meaning.
