Apology
April 28, 2016

Roger Harrabin – BBC Environment Analyst
This blog made a false allegation that Roger Harrabin has financial links with extreme green groups.
This allegation was first made in the Mail on Sunday, who were forced to withdraw it after a legal challenge from Mr Harrabin.
We accept that the allegation is damaging and untrue, and therefore libellous. We apologise and have withdrawn the comment.

When you work for the BBC and have all those other sources of income that they seem to cultivate, there is no need for financial links with extreme green groups.
Well done Paul – you’re on the side of the Angels.
In my book, the Beeb IS an extreme green group and a shameful one at that.
Well said Martin but …
IMO the BBC acts like a shameless advocate for green groups. They shamelessly seek to stifle dissent, to close-down meaningful debate. They willfully seek to link any ordinary but adverse natural event to man’s actions through the all powerful ‘man-made climate change’ meme by misapplying an oversimplified ’cause and effect’ logic to tenuously correlated occurrences and processes.
(IMO)They are the voice of anti-science and Mr Roger Harrabin is one of the BBC’s loudest anti-science ‘green’ advocates.
Agreed, but it ia shameful that they have been (and no doubt will continue to be) so shameless in purveying their baseless scare stories and campaigning to impoverish the poor and fill the boots of the rich with treasure.
It is sometimes hard to decide whether Roger the Horror and his peers (Ward, Stern, Connelley, Krebs) are just very useful idiots whose ignorance is exceeded only by their preening arrogance. Or whether they are apparently as cynical and greedy as Dale Vince and RenewablesUK.
Either way, with that amount of tax-payers’ money sloshing about and with all Regulators assiduously looking the other way, you can be sure that lots of lovely dosh will be unexpectedly sticking to numerous virtue signalling fingers.
Well done Paul, if inadvertently wrong, apologise and move on. And well done Mr Harrabin for accepting your apology. Next.
This.
Always check and double check…
I have to echo Mr Brumby
Eco-activism runs through the BBC like the letters in a stick of seaside rock candy.
That said – I can not forgive 28gate in any way shape or form. I know a number of folk who’ve had their trust in the BBC shattered by the revelations of undiluted deluded bias and especially the cover-up.
Yes – the cover-up as a rule is the most telling part of most of what the BBC gets wrong.
Hey you guys are forgetting about the lies he told about the AA
Was there a nice eloquent apology posted up from him about this spun article
If there was I missed it
He was lucky he didnt get his arse sued off
Poor Roger with a whole media organisation to use carte blanche paid for by us (& the EU) to push his personal beliefs on the public
My heart bleeds
Well, financial ties or not, he’s certainly willing to change a story under pressure from green groups.

Respect, txs 4 this. When will ‘the other side’ do the same?
As usual setting the standard for responsible publishing, well done Paul. I wonder when we’ll see Mr Harrabin apologising for his biased coverage of climate change. Has anyone seen his coverage of the NASA CO2 greening research for example. Or the many BBC articles with cooling tower steam photographed to look like thick smoke?
Let this be a lesson for the despicable Harrabin … a gentleman acknowledges error and corrects it. Harrabin, well not so much!
It’s very reassuring to know that Auntie is paying attention.
OK Paul, BUT..Yes if uncertain apologise. And anyway I don’t think anyone ever meant to imply that Harra is in it for the money. I hope you have checked with David Rose, cos when I search those Daily Mail articles do not neither an allegation of personal gain, just that Tyndall Centre grants funded BBC climate awareness seminars.
And the articles contained no correction note..Although one has a last update note of 6 months afterwards.
– It could have been anyone that wrote that protest comment on your original post.
– BTW If you are apologising , you should actually add an edit note to your original post. It neither contains the allegations, nor does it have a note saying this post has been edited.
Harra himself has done stealth edits on BBC articles after others have replicated them , but I don’t think you should.
Yes, David R range me and advised me to delete the original statement, and apologise pronto.
(Although he does say that there was no apology from the Mail, and nothing to apologise for, and they agreed to change the headline, he also says that H’s lawyers were on the case for 3 months!)
His personally paid lawyers or BBC company ones paid for by us ?
OK for sake of dotting the “i”s
Harra posted on your other post
“This is a lie. The Mail on Sunday were forced to withdraw this false allegation after I took legal action against them.”
That article was dated Nov 18th 2011, the oldest achived version is 25/11/2011 looks almost same as the current version
If you say the 18/11/2011 headline was changed then that’s the only place something classified as a “lie”by H must have been there
I didn’t find the original headline yet
– Harra writing “after I took legal action against them.” makes it sound like he took them to court, but given what Rose said it seems like H is pushing language again.
