Carbon-hungry plants may have ‘paused’ the growing build-up of greenhouse gas in the atmosphere, scientists claim.
A new study suggests that while human activity continues to pour out increasing amounts of carbon dioxide (CO2), raising the risk of catastrophic global warming, mother nature has come to the planet’s rescue.
Rising CO2 is said to have stimulated the growth of more photosynthesising plants, which in turn have captured more of the greenhouse gas from the atmosphere and kept its levels in check.
Meanwhile back in the real world:
No doubt they are attempting to get their excuses ready for the ongoing pause.

Apparently the EU gave €128m to China and €260m to India: must be good to be a developing country that is richer than its money donors are! Seems that a re-definition of Developing Countries is badly needed to me.
No evidence that atmospheric CO2 is responsive to the rate of fossil fuel emissions at an annual time scale.

Which means that we are being asked to cut emissions without the evidence that cutting emissions will have a measurable effect on atmos co2.

Somebody forgot to tell the atmosphere. As the blue line above shows, CO2 in the atmosphere continued to behave just like it did in earlier years, when emissions were increasing. This is what Salby showed, a disconnect between emissions vs how much CO2 is in the atmosphere.

At least they are now willing to admit that CO2 causes plant growth!. According to NASA (but probably not James Hansen), most areas of the globe have increased leaf growth anywhere from 5% to 50%.

Yes, that damn ‘pause’. I know they are stupid but I suppose not that stupid to know that once the El Nino blip has gone we are back to the flatline again in their fiddled temp records unless you use the Karlised version. And we would then be heading on for 20 years of it while CO2 continues to rise.
It’s unsurprising as a tactic, “discover” something that horticulturists have known for decades and then use this as an excuse (no. 52?) for the pause. Clearly this will now require extensive research to properly evaluate.
Not to mention making more food for animals and people…
Did anyone notice that the red line on the chart stopped at 2002 and not at 1998 (which was the peak) at 2.94 ppm? And then the “flat line” chose to begin after 1998…No wonder it is flat.
There’s a solid mathematical reason for that.
Wert… What is that reason? 1998 was the start of the “pause” created by the large 1997 El-Nino followed by a large La-Nina in 1998. What’s “magical” about 2002?

Remember Jim Lovelock and Gaia which the yoghurt weavers all got excited about (because they failed totally to understand him)? Then they abandoned him because the environment was going all wrong (they thought) when Jim said it should correct itself. Well look out of the window, it is correcting itself with lush growth using the CO2 and animals prospering with the higher O2 from the plants (conservation success stories!!). You were right all along Sir. Hats off to Lovelock.
