The X in Christmas is quite acceptable. Medieval in origin I believe! X is a cross, and is also the sign often called criss cross not the letter x, after all.

A belated Happy Xmas, Paul. It’s thanks to your considerable efforts – in particular demonstrating the enormous costs for zero gain – that has better enabled me (an ordinary Joe working within an industry priding and preening itself on ‘green’ credentials) to keep hammering away at colleagues’ understandable base-level ignorance and acceptance. Probably about one in ten gets it, two seem interested whilst the remainder are either ambivalent or spout the AGW mantra. More fools them given biannual bonuses are determined upon profit and waste disposal costs are rapidly rocketing…
Family members enlightenment is proving difficult. Scotland’s current energy ‘policy’ direction is ruinous, predicated upon interconnector feeds subsidised by the wider UK. Like most folks, baseload dispatchability via thermal generation is seen as old hat stuff. Madness.
Apparently, there’s a new ‘Scottish Climate Change Declaration’ due 2017.
2016 was a good year for the world’s population at large via Brexit and Trump aided by a new information age of which you’re part. More power to your elbow across 2017.
