Caroline Lucas’ Carbon Spewing Trip

Guido exposes the latest green hypocrisy:
Green Party leader Caroline Lucas flew in business class to Washington yesterday on a gasoline guzzling, CO2 spurting aeroplane which dumped almost a tonne of carbon into the atmosphere. A spokesman for Lucas confirmed to Guido that she flew on British Airways and said:
“Caroline is in Washington DC on a work visit with the Environmental Audit Committee. Travel was arranged by the [Environmental Audit] Committee.”
A popular carbon footprint calculator states an average flight from London to Washington pumps out 0.92 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent – equivalent to 4 months average C02 emissions by a household. In 2009 Lucas compared holidaymakers flying to Spain to thugs stabbing people in the street:
“When asked if flying to Spain was as bad as knifing a person in the street, Ms Lucas said: ‘Yes – because they are dying from climate change.’”

Hypocrites, all of the leading lights of the greenblob. The BBC members of the greenblob are even worse. Tom Heap for example is always flying around the world. They haven’t heard of skype.
Why is she going business class? What is wrong with cattle class for her?
I think it is 0.92 tonnes of CO2 per passenger on such a flight.
Pointless and absurd woman. I don’t think she should be wasting our air by breathing it.
Is this story all that important. I flew to Chicago a couple of weeks ago. At any one time there are about 2 million people on a plane.

So how many people was she deliberately & figuratively “knifing” during her jaunt across to New York?
Seriously? This is yet another blinding case of eco-Marxist hypocrisy at work – how can it not be worthy of discussion even if she hadn’t made the brainless remark that it is akin to stabbing people. If they don’t lead by example why should anyone follow them? If she had to fly there is the solar powered option that they were all very excited about. Admitted that it won’t take a few hours – more like a few weeks – but what is time when there is a planet to save? Think of the polar bears. How will their hugely increased numbers survive? Or she could have sailed there. There are options and it is not as if her time is used productively, she is only an MP.
“We needed to destroy the planet in order to save it”.
Or: “We need to destroy (other) people in order to save the planet”. How altruistic do you have to be to put at risk the lives of millions of your fellow-beings in order to save the place they live in if you are not saving it for them to live in?
I’ve said before that, as far as humanity is concerned, Earth has no purpose without us and I am sure you would find monkeys saying the same thing if they had the intellect to cope with the concept.
What then are we saving the planet for? Why should I sacrifice myself for the monkeys?
Leave her alone. You cannot apply such rules to a member of the privately-educated elite.
So, in her own terms, she has just committed murder by climate change. HYPOCRITE? Or maybe just mentally derranged.
Mentally derranged I woul say,the smug face of Lucas says it all.Waste of time as a human being.
0.92 metric tons of CO2 is 0.00000005% of one part-per-million CO2, rounded.
The Lucas anomaly:
If Caroline Lucas has her way then the only means of getting to Washington would be by sail, solar or nuclear?*ship. Somewhat inefficient unless she has some new technology up her sleeve. *[I suspect that is not one of her options.]
Meanwhile “Trade” awaits her solution as we revert to the tea and grain clipper races to boost the economy and millions starve awaiting a static climate.
