NOAA Shut Down

January 22, 2018

By Paul Homewood

Thanks to the Senate lock down, NOAA is apparently shut down at the moment.

I wonder if anyone will miss them?

“Lock down?” Do you mean partial shut down of non-essential services? No big deal. Data are being collected, databases will be open when the government opens up again. The only people really getting hurt are contractors. They will not be compensated for time off as government employees will.

I noticed I couldn’t access some personal medical information on line because it is apparently in a government database.

In 2013 Obama closed national parks and blocked them. I was in a group fishing on one of the coastal barrier islands in North Carolina (Outer Banks.) The Park Ranger making sure we saw his Glock told us we had to leave the beach and were confined to our rented cabin until the ferry could remove us. It was reinforced by a circling overflight by a Marine Blackhawk. May have been incidental but it sure made an impression.

I was in the middle of an important post, Bob! Now I’ve got to wait for them to sort themselves out.

You should be back in business.

Chuckie Schumer collapsed like a cheap tent and now his even loonier base is mad at him for doing so. He expected it to be blamed on the Republicans. After all, it had worked for them in the past. But even some of the media was blaming him and echoing President Trump’s moniker, “The Schumer Shutdown.” They had hoped to keep the shutdown through the State of the Union Address and deny Trump any good publicity.

There’s a new sheriff in town.

With all due respect (I am a CAGW skeptic), those of us who are mariners are grateful for NOAA nautical charts and would not venture into unfamiliar waters without them.

You seem to be contradicting the NOAA statement below, the sites with charts show the same not-available message:

“Specific NOAA websites necessary to protect lives and property are operational and will be maintained.”

That is all well and good. However, if they continue a history of lies and data changes, what will be reliable? As a botanist, I could no longer trust their temperature data. That is why what they are doing is so dangerous. People will stop believing anything they say.

Looks like the shutdown is about to end anyway.

The “shutdown” is nothing but political posturing at the people’s expense. The press will hype a few incidents blamed on the ‘shutdown’, it will end, and life will go on except the endless back and forth bickering on who caused it. Nothing will change. Politics in the US has become a divide and conquer game with the people always being the losers. Only a proper Convention of States will change our endless political deadlocks.

As Fox News put it the Dims blinked.
Chuckles Schumer & Nasty Nancy realized they were getting negative points on this.
That’s is important because of the elections in the fall.
Every thought they have is about winning seats in the House of Representatives.
False news, resistance to good ideas, and even lies are all in their playbook.
View all that happens from Wash. D.C. in this perspective.

      The Donald wins again!

Yep!! And he is teaching the hapless Republicans in the House and Senate to find their backbones. Beautiful.

I wonder if the Congress Critters pulled these stunts before radio (1920s) and TV?
Our local news paper was printed before the vote, so if that was all we had we would only know: Government Shutdown enters Day 3.

Donald John Trump is tearing up the Democrat Playbook one page at a time. I hope they and their handlers, the media don’t catch one.

Not a chance that anyone might even notice. Bunch of braindead idle w***kers.
