Go Fossil Free With Bernie, And Freeze To Death!

February 2, 2018

By Paul Homewood

Tony Heller always has a way with words!

A few weeks ago, when New England was under six feet of snow, the grid there depended largely on oil, gas and coal to keep people alive.

Nuclear power was also important. Yet our Bernie does not fancy nuclear either. His official policy is for a moratorium on nuclear power plant license renewals in the United States.

Electricity of course only accounts for a fraction of overall energy consumption.

In 2016, fossil fuels supplied 86% of US energy consumption. Some of that went to heating people’s houses.

BP Energy Review

For an avowed socialist, Bernie seems to care very little about the interest of ordinary, working people.

Reblogged this on Climatism and commented:
MALTHUSIANISM has overtaken socialism as the primary ideology of climateers in order to control energy; ergo, people, in the quest to “Save The Planet”.

Actually, this proves that. ultimately, Malthus was correct.
He didn’t anticipate the technology which would allow us to support an ever growing human population, but the more dependent we are on that technology, the greater an more rapid will be the collapse will be if anything ever goes wrong, for whatever reason.
I am a sceptical about many of the claims made about “climate change” but the simple fact is, we could not possibly support the current population, with its ever growing technological desires, without continuing to use fossil fuels or some renewable alternative.

      • February 2, 2018 12:27 pm

Population explosion occurs in the third-world. Most advanced countries have negative birth rates. Moral of the story…provide cheap, reliable fossil fuel tech to developing countries and the ‘bread-winner’ often a male, will not have to be born.
If all else fails and the ‘population bomb’ eventuates, then hydrogen fusion is the key. Main ingredient- sea water.
Unreliable – wind and solar – for mass penetration will soon be realised universally as a feel-good experiment gone horrible wrong.

      • February 2, 2018 2:13 pm

I agree with Jamie. Third world is where the population explodes. There is concern that Europe and America will soon have insufficient workers for positions (or could that be globalist propaganda). However, with automation, the need for workers will continue to go down as the population does. We do NOT need the government trying to “fix” problems that don’t exist.

The main problem is that people keep voting for politicians who don’t have any common sense or engineering/scientific knowledge. How we get this problem solved before millions die and the country is ruined is unknown. UKIP was the only political party with any common sense and sensible energy policies, but LibLabCon and the MSM (particularly the BBC) have been conspiring to kill it off. Instead we get people like Claire Perry, who is totally clueless. In one recent comment she made she described critics of the Brexit divorce bill as “the swivel-eyed few”. One might have thought that she would have more important energy issues on her mind (or perhaps she could spend her time more productively learning what ‘baseload’ means).

Philip…Indeed. All one needs to know is where all the alarmed politicians get their climate expertise. The same places where the funding is most needed and the “alarm” is the most vocal and shrill.

Ukip killed themselves off, or rather their preening leader did so by insisting funds from the EU were spent fruitlessly to try to get him into parliament instead of being used to build an EU thinktank. Has this been done it is unlikely we would be heading for the Brexit disaster that is unfolding as the thinktank would have produced the exit plan the great leader failed to do.

And there is no such thing as the ‘Brexit divorce bill’. The EU requires us to meet our financial commitments – nothing more.

Hi Gerry, your right in there is no such thing as a brexit divorce bill since the UK is a member of a treaty organisation which will still exist when we leave it, it employees require their employer to meet their pay and pensions obligations and they are not civil servants but private contractors to the EU. Our membership of that body bears no more responsibilty than a director leaving the board of an ongoing company, which in fact is exactly what this body is – a corporate legal entity. What has been going on is a bung to a key supporter of our regimes elites when in fact we have no obligation treaty or otherwise to do so, and one which has been taken as the first installement of many in a business as usual NoBrexit Brexit. It is one thing to be remain or leave but both factions know a bribe from public taxes when they see it. .

Even if they have common sense and a science background, none of that helps when your goal is to keep being reelected. Without term limits, the goal of a politician is simply to stay in office until death do us part. Since people tend toward lazy, apathetic and believing in fairies, we get exactly the kind of government we vote for. Until people wake up, start caring, stop electing Santa Claus or a new Daddy, this will continue. Politicians do what is good for them. As for voters……There are exceptions, but they are few and far between.

It is a flawed system but it beats the dictatorships. Much of the problem stems from how we are educating our future leaders…and who is doing the educating. Dogma in more dogma out?

        Two sayings come to mind:
        • e e cummings: “A politician is an arse upon which everyone has sat except a man.”
        • Churchill (but many others since!) “He has all the characteristics of a cushion – he always bears the imprint of the last person to sit on him.”

And unfortunately the most efficient sitters over the last 20 years have been the eco-activists! We can inveigh against the Telegraph (rightly enough) or against politicians who would claim, with some justification, that you need to be in power to do anything. At the end of the day we are in the bind we are in because *we* fell for it.

Two friends of mine, one an ex-WWII para and senior design engineer for a firm with government military contracts (so no slouch!) and the other an electrical engineer with one of the major electricity generating companies in the UK, were totally convinced that global warming was real and a serious threat 20 years ago!

What chance have the politicians got when people who are supposed to have some sort of scientific grounding don’t even question the science?

  3. February 2, 2018 11:59 am

You ended by saying: “For an avowed socialist, Bernie seems to care very little about the interest of ordinary, working people.”

Marxism only uses the “ordinary, working people” to obtain their power. Once that is accomplished, they are subjugated and ignored. Look at China until very recently and even today; look at the former Soviet Union; look at North Korea now.

Bernie is no different. Actually, neither is Hillary. Both are totalitarians.

    • February 2, 2018 2:31 pm

Great comment. It is difficult to get people to understand than socialists and communists do no care about people, they only use that as a selling point. Once in power, the leaders are wealthy and everyone else provides slave labor to keep the population at an acceptable level of living, often lower middle or lower class. European socialism works on mediocrity. Everyone stays happy at a low level of earning. Communism generally has the poorest outcome. (Bernie’s like all the other politicians talking about “fair share” who use every tax break, or just don’t send in payment, to keep their money. It’s everyone else’s money that pays for services.)

This is a climate related site, the continuing, pathetic attacks on socialism are a sad reflection of the self-righteousness of some contributors. Capitalism and Socialism are both imperfect, but at present Capitalism is not showing up too well anywhere: look around at our homeless / hospitals / schools…… who’s responsible and where is the money going?

Jack, the problem is that you can’t seem to be a socialist these days without being a ‘warmist’. Identity politics has replaced the old left/right split.

Er Jack, our schools and hospitals are run under a socialist system. Can’t blame capitalism for their poor performance. It’s amazing they work as well as they do considering their customers have no choice and their managers and workers have no financial incentive to offer a good service.

      • February 3, 2018 4:44 pm

Jack: I didn’t combine socialism and climate change. Complain to the UN, Bernie Sanders and the rest of the globalists/socialists out there. This is entirely on the global warming believers side. It’s what they wanted.

The failure of socialism everywhere and every time to make the poor better off, especially when contrasted with the success of capitalism and markets, meant that people who are “left wing” needed to find other reasons for their opposition to certain things.

Thus we have bizarre claims (I read recently that the villain in over 50% of US TV shows is a corporation) foisted on businesses in order to justify hatred of businesses, and facts twisted, distorted or just plain falsified. This is not a rational process, but a permanent feature of the Left, the need to keep finding reasons to justify beliefs.Yet still people flee Cuba and Venezuela but not Chile or the US, North but not South Korea, East but not West Germany, Syria but not Israel.

Having said that, I have never understand the Left’s dislike of nuclear, which is hardly “Big Oil” in terms of the things the Left says it hates.

    • February 2, 2018 2:37 pm

In all fairness, there has to be a villain and businesses are a major feature in the population. I find it’s more telling how the business is the villian—greed of one person, institutional greed, hatred of humanity, etc, than the fact that it is the villain. In the older programs from the 50’s, it was a single corporation, with an evil, nasty owner. The “bigger” picture was not part of the plot—like “Big Oil” or “Big Pharma”. Less conspiracy and class envy.

Nuclear is a great way to spread fear, generally irrational fear. The Left loves fear.

What’s the matter with us? Removing “polluting” fossil fuels will make our landscapes beautiful… solar panel farms and wind turbines as far as the eye can see, new trees everywhere. Sequestered CO2 being buried all around us delivered from Capture-and-Store factories on roads that cannot use asphalt or concrete for infrastructure repairs.

All this taking the space where we used to grow something to eat and build homes to leave the urban heat. Who cannot love that future for our children?

You misunderstand the reality of socialism and Socialists.

    Bernie is a perfect Socialist!

Hypocritical. Stuffing his pockets at the expense of the proletariat. Yet constantly mouthing the Politically Correct Progressive party line–regardless of how far removed from reality it is.

That is exactly what Socialism looks like, and is.

Of course he doesn’t, Socialists have zero interest in the ordinary people, especially if they’re workers, who are the lowest of the low.

That is why the genocidal cult that replaced worship of “God/s” with worship of “The State” managed to murder between one and two hundred million of its own people as speedbumps on the Highway to the Glorious Socialist Workers’ Paradise in not much over five decades of the Twentieth Century, more than all the theologically based religion managed in the previous thousand years..

Socialism is the cruellest, most inhuman, merciless ideology ever created by man,

Join Bernie at 350? Make a contribution? That’s a reference to Jim Hansen’s stated goal of removing 50 ppm of CO2 by untested, risky “negative emission” technologies. 50 ppm is 100 giga-tons of CO2. Bernie and Jim will need a lot more than contributions! Simply multiply 100 billion by any currency value. Crazy Bernie!
