HuffPost have been making even bigger fools of themselves:

Nigel Farage has lamented the apparent lack of gritters in central London whilst suggesting the ‘Beast from the East’ weather system currently dumping snow across the UK is proof global warming isn’t real.

The former Ukip-leader’s tweet posted on Wednesday morning provoked a tide of scientific debunking mixed with utterly scathing put-downs.

Firstly, some science – Farage is wrong to imply global warming results in solely warmer weather and any freak cold spells prove the phenomenon’s absence.

I have to say I think this is hilarious and indicative of what politics has become, a nonsense.
I read Farages tweet and it struck me as a totally tongue in cheek remark which was amusing.
    Nothing more or less.
To turn it into a full blown debate on climate change is unbelievable tbh.
Haven’t folk better things to do with their time?

Our very own Trump. Make a comment, in the full knowledge it’ll be plastered across the media in an instant, thereby perpetuating self generating publicity.

I like both of them in their approach to politics, sneering at the conventions of Westminster and the Whitehouse, poking the lazy, slothful bear with a stick, and, in their own way, demonstrating considerable success.

One may not like them, but I think we should all recognise the contribution they have both made to breaking our respective countries two party impasse of the last generation.

Churchill was also an extremely unpopular man amongst his peers, but he was a man of his time, a warrior at time of war. Trump, particularly, seems a man of his time, a businessman in a predominantly peaceful time.

You need to understand that the left has NO sense of humor, only a sense of “outrage” over practically everything.

Here is a link to Nigel Farage’s speech to CPAC last week, including his introduction and the short video of his political career.

Perhaps he was thinking of Gordon Brown’s salt crisis cock up of 2010. Nobody took Anna Stasinopoúlou very seriously at Cambridge in the early 70s.

The reason they have changed the name of global warming to climate change is because the globe isn’t warming!

Perhaps that’s also why the “global cooling” in the 1960s and 70s has been forgotten? It’s cooling again. Climates do seem to change.. in both directions.

Sorry to comment again but this is a pretty good sketch of Mrs Huffington (from the days when the Independent was worth a quick glance).

My niece worked briefly for Arianna in California before Michael ran. I believe it was when she was writing a book. Lynn soon got her number and quit warning all who would listen that Arianna was not what she packaged herself to be.

So is Kirsten saying that this cold spell is because something’s happened to the Gulf Stream? And is Laird seriously claiming that a film is science? And when was it proven that the air pushing south is because of climate change?

It’s quite a collection of ignorance and stupidity – difficult to think of way of making Alarmists look more dumb really.

Farage is completely right. Scientists have told companies and councils for decades that there would be no more snow, so nobody invested in new snow clearing equipment. (See Dr David Viner in the Independent 2001 – “our children will not know what snow is”.)

The same happened to Heathrow back in 2010, when the whole of Heathrow closed for three days because they had no modern snow clearing equipment. Think about it – what airport director is going to buy £30 million of new snow clearing equipment, when Dr David Viner, the CRU, NASA, GIS, Gore, and all the liberal media, say it is a waste of time? Would you risk your job and career, going out on a limb and ‘wasting’ all that money? Would you?

The result is that Heathrow’s old snow equipment failed, and the airport ground to a halt. Ditto for many councils around the country, whose left-leaning councilors have not bought snow clearing equipment for three decades. In which case, the cost for any snow-losses should be placed at the door of these pseudo-scientists, who have filled their pockets with our tax monies in the form of grants and jollies to conferences, and who have caused snow-clearing havoc throughout the western world.

Also in Australia I read about all those desalination plants that were built because the Govt scientist said they would be needed … climate blah blah …. now mothballed & costing fortunes to maintain.

    • March 1, 2018 12:54 am

The Victorian Labour Government wasted one and a half billion dollars on a desalination plant not needed as our drought broke. They allowed the membranes to waste so now we spend 400 million dollars a year on water we do not get and do not need. They are now looking at using borrowed money to upgrade something we do not need and will not get anyway.
Ah the socialist left faction, total and utter tools that they are.

Several years ago Devon County Council did a consultation on the impact of climate change on the road network. As I recall, they were going to do away with using salt and gritters and snowplows and would instead spend money on making road surfaces out of a kind of tarmac that would be better able to cope with higher temperatures. I responded to the consultation telling them how dangerous their proposals were. Needless to say, the next winter (2009/10?) was severe, with people stranded all over the place and the council ran out of salt. I presume they saw sense and dropped the idea, because they started to deliver bag of salt to small communities and now regularly use gritters. Most of the highways money is now spent on filling pot-holes brought about by bad weather and poor maintenance.

No matter what Nigel Farage says, he will get a kicking. He is public enemy number one and always has been How dare he take us away from the Globalist EUtopia? How dare he question Global Warming? How dare he make a joke about it? But it was only a few years ago that so called “scientists” were saying that by 2018 children in the UK would only know what virtual snow was. Nice one Nigel.

Interesting comment above from Phillip Bratby about Devon County Council consulting on the impact of climate change, evidently from a standpoint of no more snow/milder winters/hotter summers. This illustrates just how difficult it is going to be to turn the ship around. Kyoto and Paris commitments, and especially the Climate Change Act, mean that national and local government as well as many other organisations have set up committees or working parties “on climate change” and these have spawned a thriving industry of meetings, symposia, draft papers, consultation papers etc etc. All predicated on the vacuous meme that “climate change is real and it is happening now”.

It isn’t so much that liberals are ignorant. It’s just that they know so many things that aren’t so.”

    ― Ronald Reagan

Of course Reagan was referring to progressives and not Liberals as labeled in your politics there.

    • March 1, 2018 12:29 pm

One of my favorite Reagan quotes which I use often.

Today, Liberals are Progressives. I knew the definition of Progressive when in high school in the early 1960’s. It was chosen by the Marxists as “Communism” had become understood for what it is. Now they have returned to “Progressive” as people have caught on to “Liberal.” They were hoping that no one would remember what “Progressive” meant. I try to inform as many as possible.

Agree entirely about the risible nonsense both in the ‘report’ and the comments at Huffpo.
    Good grief!
There’s an utterly fraudulent ‘swingometer’ at the bottom of the ‘report’ asking for ‘votes’ on whether or not climate change is a threat to humanity. I tried to move it to ‘not a threat’ and it immediately registered at the opposite end of the scale! I tried it again, with the same result!! (Note that multiple ‘votes’ are possible.) Huffpo will no doubt trumpet the ‘results’ as confirming the consensus, but that is only to be expected from such a site, where any means justifies the cause.

I’ve never managed to drag myself over to the Guff post, I used to stray onto the graun just to wind them up, they banned me for some reason, so I sanctioned myself from visiting – suffice to say it bothered me not at all, their loss I always thought.

There was a time, until they had a lover’s tiff, when you wandered over to romm’s and schmidt’s online propaganda sheet, when, they did allow you to engage. Shadow epees, if you could stand the “you’re not a physicist (scientific expert wotevah) and thus, you are unable to make sensible comment” very piss potical hauteur but the arguments always ended up ganin’ nowhere because simply put little joe and gavin were not in the slightest bit – interested in, nor even ‘listening’.
Result, so it all got a tad shouty, they couldn’t abide having their ‘science’ thrown back in their faces and that all they really had were dodgy statistics, a unproven supposition and computer modelled GIGO.

If anything these days, the standard of ‘climate debate’ has descended (if that is at all possible) into a schoolground spat between very young ill educated children and their betters and superiors and the snowflakes always lose and end up crying.

Have you ever wondered, they just don’t engage in open debate, because we know that, against the likes of Steyn, Morano v Gore and Mann, Sereeze or think clair ’empty head’ perry! – name a plank – the walkover would be total as it would be rapid.

Thus, the best they can do is, like Moonbat t’other day is to shout from the pages of the graun, guff po, ie the playground and the standard of debate: it never was much but now it has fallen to ‘ya boo sucks’ which is and reflects unerringly, the intellectual level of the correspondents who work there.

What it does prove however, is that the climate change alarmists have no clue what they are talking about. Their endless predictions of milder and milder winters coupled with scorching hot summers have utterly failed. Yet huge parts of government policy are still directed towards mitigating this non existent threat.

squeaky bum time and speculators making an absolute killing, how many fully loaded LNG ships waiting to sail from Falmouth and Weymouth bay?

National Grid issued the worrying alert at 5am today, with supplies dropping 48 million cubic metres short of demand.

A spokesman said: “It is looking tight.”

There is a daily demand of 395mcm, which means Britain is 14 percent short of what is needed.

The shortage announcement has sent gas prices soaring 74 percent to 200p per therm.

    Daily Express link

Just think, give pause on, all that lovely unfracked shale gas right under our feet – too.

The establishment will say that loss of gas supply and possibly power cuts are the direct result of climate change and, of course, thus “not our fault”. Like Cape Town’s water crisis etc. The usual “experts, scientists and wondermen” will all support this of course.
