February 2019 Only 15th Warmest On CET

March 1, 2019

By Paul Homewood

Following all of the ridiculous hype about a couple of mild days, the newly published CET data for February puts it all into perspective:

Mean temperatures for the month were 6.7C and rank as only 15th warmest, tied with 1702, 1750 and 1997.

By far the warmest month was in 1779, when temperatures averaged 7.9C. In second place was 1869, at 7.5C.

Caroline Lucas calls it a climate breakdown. Mental breakdown, more like!

    Feb 2018 or 2019?

On a separate note the BBC are furiously promoting Australia’s heatwave as hottest ever yet their temp record only starts in 1910. Werent the 1890s hotter?

Before or after they started butchering the data?

Before no doubt as their fiddling is cool the past to exaggerate the present, as well as making the 1998 El Nino peak disappear to hide the lack of warming thereafter.

NOAA has also “improved” their global land and ocean values. Back in 2017 they reported January at 0.91°C above the 20th century average, but now in January 2019 it is only 0.88°C above it? Looking back at their 2016 report it says that January was 1.04°C above the 20th (and influenced by El-Nino). But, now they say that January 2016 was actually 1.06°C above the 20th. How can anyone use their data for anything meaningful?

The problem of Green thinking and utterances is lack of commonsense-based balance and realism.
That wouldn’t matter so much if they kept their ideas to themselves but they want us all to comply, I.e., totalitarian policies.
Moderation in all things is needed!

I am sure that you meant 2019!
Even then the figure is strange because while appears to be the correct confirmed figure, the provisional figure is still showing as 6.9c to the 27th, although there is a tendency for the provisional figure to be overestimated.

They always put the final figure on the ranking page ages before the page you are looking at, for some reason.

    • March 1, 2019 6:20 pm

Yes, the provisional figure always comes out a bit high.

I noticed that for the first time last summer

The problem though is that the #BiasedBBC have already achieved their objective which is to brainwash a large section of society. The economic consequences are hitting hard with ridiculous spending on so-called green energy and there will be much worse to come…

The UK Met Office bases its CET mean temperatures against the 1961-90 period. This suits their AGW bias as the 60s & 70s were decades when the temperatures cycled downwards.
It is possible to dig out the CET anomalies based on the most recent 1981-2010 decades and this shows significantly lower warm anomalies. It’s called hiding bad news.

No, NO, No it can’t be right: ……. the Evil Broadcasting Corporation told us other wise, just t’other day. Can’t have changed alrerady:
Crikey by own Climate research tells me that from TODAY, March will be the $$th warmest month beginning yet – has been MUCH warmer than forecast – even warmer here than most of last week of February

didnt stop the BBC reporting that it looks like being the hottest February ever yesterday on the lunch time TV weather. So everyone believes that to be the case and on it goes.

Sloppy script writers and/or presenters can’t seem to distinguish between the “hottest month” and “hottest temeprature recorded during the month”. I would also prefer “warmest”. .

There are many ways to determine the hottest Feb. since records began, that’s how they say last summer was the hottest ever but not in the CET.

The BBC love record pre-announcements – it is their standard tactic – if it fails to happen then they say no more, so either way, every one thinks the climate ‘chaos’ is endless.

“Consistent with the models”…. Now CO2 is going to stop clouds forming apparently: there is no end to the evil powers of CO2 apparently, so we should stop all emissions immediately. Question Time last night said so too!

Not sloppy. These people are deadly serious and check every word for maximum alarmist effect. SOMEONE in the BeeBeeeCeee has close connections to the Kremlin because they are following the KGB rule book on media as a tool for subversion to the letter.

despite the fact that warming is meant to cause more evaporation. DOH !!!

Here in North Lincolnshire yesterday’s weather one was of the biggest change arounds I have seen.
Tuesday was sunny, but the night cool so there was a frost..then shorts weather on Wednesday, yet with the change in wind direction Thursday was quite different with mist across the fields still at 3pm.
Today Friday all overcast and now a cold wind has come in.
    .. rain expected tomorrow.

Alarmists say a couple of unseasonal warm days in your neck of the woods is climate, the rest is weather :/

The last 2 weeks of February were very pleasant. I’m sure most people would rather have the weather we had this year compared to last year, but no, you can’t enjoy it because it a sign of impending doom.
Given that some places had day time temperatures 20 degrees higher than this time last year how can we be expected to believe that another 1 degree rise in average temperatures (even if it does happen) is going to lead to disaster?
Given that this February has only been the 15th warmest in the CET record I wondered about the record temperatures that had been reported; and specifically how long those particular stations had been operational for. For example it was claimed that Scotland had it’s warmest February day in 120 years with a temperature of 18.6 degrees recorded at Aboyne, but there seems to be no indication on the Met Office website of how long this station has been operational for. Obviously if it has been operational for, lets say, 50 years then we have no idea what the temperature was in some of the warm February’s in the early part of the 20th century, so the 120 year claim would turn out to be meaningless.

      Or highest mean temperatures rather.
