Isle of Wight Refuses To Save The Planet

Shock news! Isle of Wight refuse to save the planet!!

With Islanders preparing to march for climate change on Friday, the Isle of Wight Council has said it will not declare a climate emergency.

So far, 39 councils — including nine Tory administrations — have declared a climate emergency, including the Greater London Authority, Devon County Council and Edinburgh City Council.

However, cabinet member for environment and heritage, Cllr John Hobart, said there were no plans to follow suit on the Isle of Wight.

Cllr Hobart said:

The administration has no current plans to consider the merits or otherwise of declaring a climate change emergency.

It has other priorities which it wishes to address using the council’s limited financial resources. This includes preparation of a local environment action plan as a product of the council’s recent environmental conference.”

Meanwhile the Islanders’ dopey Green Party spokesperson, Vix Lowthian, said it was disappointing council leaders refused to acknowledge there was more to be done to protect the planet.

She added:

“Our Conservative council’s refusal to take action to tackle the climate crisis will be a legacy which comes back to haunt them. Three-hundred Islanders took to the streets last weekend to demand action and support from their elected leaders — their inaction will not be tolerated.”

The Isle of Wight’s population is 140,000, so Vix’s pathetic little rag tag of 300 protestors are an utter irrelevance.

Meanwhile, I suspect the Isle of Wight’s weather will carry on doing what it has always done.

Every day it becomes ever more obvious that the “Climate Crisis” is entirely imaginary and totally made up. As a result, every day the idiots who are still being taken in by it look more and more ridiculous.

But, Stony… these are the REAL Believers! Absolute blind faith in their quasi-religious cause, The true followers of St Algore and the rest.
You just don’t understand, you heretic.

They just want others to be as climate-deluded and foolish as they are.

Hmmmmm. Reminds me of “The King’s New Clothes.” Might have to see if I can dig out my copy of that little gem.

It was rather sad seeing those poor indoctrinated children on their ‘strike’ today. of course many of them were just having a day bunking off school, but i had a (rather one-sided) discussion with a group of young teenagers and their homemade banners with slogans such as “CHANGE THE SYSTEM NOT THE CLIMATE”.
The sad part was that they didn’t really listen to my mild comments rebutting the false science and laughed at my suggestion that I felt sorry for them, as they were “the ones who would bear the consequences”.

The weather on Friday will be interesting, looking like typical March fare:

“Remaining unsettled during the outlook period as a series of low pressure systems approach. Friday will stay very windy with a risk of gales in southern Scotland and northern England. A wet start with outbreaks of rain but it will turn dry later. Heavy rain and strong winds will move across England and Wales on Saturday, with further wet and windy weather on Sunday.”

The kids marches are great for Woke Green parents, they can march via their children, without having to use up a days leave from their public/charity sector jobs.

What does declaring a climate emergency mean?
Reporting to the Town Hall to receive ration books ?
Being enrolled in a Dad’s and Mum’s army (no discrimination) to march on petrol stations and close them down and hunt down climate deniers and string them up?
Being issued with anti-CO2 gas masks .
Having to listen to Vera Lynn 24/7?
    Sounds fun.

Always ask “is in news”, “Or is it PR” ?
..seems to be clearly PR here and therefore a waste of ratepayers money.
Individuals might well care deeply about Global Warming
.. they are free to use their own money ..instead of leveraging everyone else’s

… Someone could get them declare a an “XYZ Emergency”
and get the council to pay for their hobby as well

BTW which council has declared a Groomng Raping Gang emergency ?

      “anti-CO2 gas masks”
Brilliant – never thought of that mike.
Need an alkaline filter – how about Calcium Oxide (lime) or Sodium Hydroxide? Kept away from your eyes of course.
If all 7 billion of us wear such a mask could we collectively drop the global CO2 from 0.04% to a desirable 0.03%? And in so doing halt global warming & save the planet for our grandchildren!!
Yes, I thimk you may have the answer mike!

Sanity on the Isle of Wight, in the Conservative Council?
    Can it be, Batman?

If there were a “climate crisis” then the way to resolve it would be to reduce global emissions. Isle of Wight as a whole is maybe responsible for 0.0014% of global emissions, and the Isle of Wight council has the ability to control over a tiny fraction of the Isle of Wight total. It is virtue signalling in a very pure form, so a total waste of time and resources.

Replace the Pompey Ryde ferry with rowing boats as the first step to save the planet.

Maybe a few letters to the tourist board might bear fruit, explaining how a planned holiday on the IoW has now been cancelled because of the emergency.

Guess who is behind the cited article:

“This article is from the BBC’s LDRS (Local Democracy Reporter Service) scheme, which OnTheWight is taking part in. Some alterations and additions may be been made by OnTheWight. Ed”

There are comments on the article, mostly from Green Zealots, with up and down votes roughly 2-1 in favor of Zealots vs Realists.

Looks as though the Isle did not get its mind “Wight?”
