Ocasio & Cortez–The Laurel & Hardy Of US Politics!

Oh well, seeing as it’s “Let’s Get AOC” week, what about this gem:

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez incorrectly asserted that Republicans amended the Constitution to stop former President Franklin Delano Roosevelt from being re-elected — even though he died in office.

“They had to amend the Constitution of the United States to make sure Roosevelt did not get re-elected,” the New York Democrat said during an MSNBC town hall on Friday night, as she touted the positive effects of the New Deal.

Ocasio-Cortez was referring to the 22nd Amendment, which a Republican-controlled Congress passed in March 1947.

Roosevelt died on April 12, 1945.

The 22nd Amendment, which was ratified by the states in 1951, declares: “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once.”

Roosevelt was elected president four times: in 1932, 1936, 1940 and 1944.

Even I knew that FDR was elected four times.

Meanwhile her constituents seem none impressed with her Metro Socialist agenda:

Amid her zeal to save the world with the Green New Deal, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has ignored residents in her own Bronx back yard.

“I thought AOC would be our savior, but that’s not the case,” complained Roxanne Delgado, a local activist who said she has tried for months to get in touch with the congresswoman for help saving an animal shelter and to clean up parks in the district.

Delgado, 40, says she has made numerous calls to Ocasio-Cortez’s offices in Washington and Queens and sent a barrage of tweets after the freshman lawmaker encouraged residents during a recent visit to a Bronx public library to hit her up on social media.

But she’s heard nothing back.

“NO email or contact on @AOC’s page except DC number which has full #voicemail and no one picks up,” Delgado tweeted on Monday.

The Post made several calls to both the Washington and Queens offices last week. The same recording at both numbers gives Ocasio-Cortez’s website and doesn’t allow callers to leave a message.

The website includes a “scheduling request” form that visitors can fill out to ask for a meeting.

Another Bronx constituent told a community gathering last month that they needed Ocasio-Cortez for a sitdown with post office officials to sort out difficulties he was having with mail delivery.

“I want AOC or a representative from AOC to be there,” Anthony Vitaliano, a former cop and Community Board 11 member, said at a Feb. 28 board meeting.

Vitaliano, 78, also wants Ocasio-Cortez to pressure Amtrak to clean up graffiti at property it owns on Tremont Avenue.

“You know, I appreciate what she’s doing, but she has to represent us,” he told the board gathering, where other elected officials — from the city and state but not AOC’s office — sent staffers.

Vitaliano told The Post: “She has to address these local issues. Her district is everywhere else in the US. Her heart is not in the Bronx.”

By contrast, he said, residents’ needs received much more attention under Rep. Joe Crowley, whom Ocasio-Cortez unseated in a surprise primary upset last year.

The longtime congressman’s Bronx district representative, Thomas Messina, regularly attended community board meetings, according to Vitaliano.

“Tommy cared about us,” Vitaliano said.

Although Ocasio-Cortez tweeted about improving mail service in the Bronx this month, Vitaliano said he was still experiencing problems and waiting for her office to arrange a meeting with post office management.

And although a Bronx community rep for Ocasio-Cortez visited the graffiti site, nothing has happened, he said.

Meanwhile, Delgado noted the animal shelter site was spared — thanks to help from the City Council and the mayor’s office.

Making access all the more challenging for her constituents, Ocasio-Cortez has yet to open an office in the Bronx.

A rep for her told a Bronx community board meeting in January that the congresswoman was having difficulty finding space.

“If you have any leads, please send them our way,” said Naureen Akhter, a deputy district director for Ocasio-Cortez’s office.

Still, at least she has got her priorities straight! It’s strange that her voters can’t see it!

Well i love Ocasio Cortez, she is the Republicans’ greatest asset and the poor dear only “earns” $174,000 a year for her efforts!

Look at the other folk from the same stable ….

    The Justice Democrats

Soros funding in there too – quite a lot not to like.

    The brains behind AOC

Spot on, tomo – I was about to post the same links. Nominated by her brother to audition for the role – sheesh!

She’s a none-too-bright puppet of some devious left operators, who plan to try this tactic more widely. While there’s a lot not to like, I rather think the tide is turning and that such underhand methods by these socialists will come back to bite them.

Spot on, tomo. I was about to post the same links. She’s a puppet, nominated by her brother to audition for the role – good grief!

As you say, quite a lot not to like, though I rather think that the deep socialists trying this underhand approach may find that it comes back to bite them quite sharply.

Apologies for the repeat comment – too impatient to wait for WP to process the first.

Ocasio & Cortez–The Laurel & Hardy Of US Politics!?? Who are “Ocasio & Cortez” Any way, it appears that the Congress person is barking at the wrong trees with the help of opinions expresses or implied as facts. Otherwise, she appears to be interested in doing something for the people….

At this time, she is simply being run past the Cameras, to see exactly what absurd nonsense can be adopted as Gospel by the “Dim, Left, American, Main-Stream Media;” whereupon the real candidate will run, spouting fake news with impunity. Who remembers the “Missile Gap” lie, which helped Kennedy beat Nixon?

This particular stuff is a little too stoopid even for “them,” in view of the fact that FDR was elected in 1932, 1936, 1940, 1944 and died in1945; while the 22nd Amendment was not passed until 1947, and not ratified until 1951.

Interestingly, the British State certainly did (at least attempt) to interfere illegally in the elections of 1940 and 1944.

It is possibly correct to say that the Amendment was passed in belated acknowledgement that FOUR terms were at least two terms too many!

Seriously? Have you heard of the Green New Deal? She wants to do something TO the people, nor FOR the people.

She should blame the over-priced croissants at LaGuardia airport on Climate Change. Why not? It would be just as silly as other things supposedly caused by Climate Change.

Sadly, she is a product of a modern U.S. education which teaches not facts or history, but political correctness and that the earth is going to die within 12 years. I find it hard to find sympathy for the people that voted for her, they should have vetted her completely and not accept her because massive money backed her play. Just like it turns out that Tlaib received 225,000+ dollars in 2017 from a Soros open society fund but lied to the IRS about the source and lied about how much she received. Yet OAC feels she is morally correct regardless of her incorrect facts.

Thanks for exposing “Ocasio & Cortez”; you may be revealing her split personality. She pretends to be a Bronx girl, even though she grew up in tony Westchester County and uses her Parkchester condo apartment as a mailing address. According to the NY Post, her neighbors never see her there; someone comes to pick up the mail every once in a while.

Boston University should be shamed for “awarding” her a bachelor’s degree in economics and international relations. This action was affirmative action at work. AOC doesn’t understand even the basics of economics. She is the stupidest politician in my lifetime, and I am in my seventies.

My nickname for AOC is “Pinocchio,” as she constantly lies and distorts the truth. The truth is not in her. Thanks for this great post, which is TRUE, even though posted on April Fool’s Day. Every day is April Fool’s Day for Ocasio & Cortez and followers.

Her main assets are big eyes and good teeth.

However, since she cannot button her lip as the one and only knowledgeable person in the room (according to her), she performs a valuable service. Over the past decades, Democrats have been able to get away with hiding who they really were and what they actually wanted to do as they realized it would not fly with the general public. But this woman is so self-focused with the idea that she runs everything because she got elected from a district where a ham sandwich could be elected as a Democrat and the long term opponent saw no reason to campaign. Now she, with her huge unchecked ego, is spilling the beans.

She has some serious help. We have the Somali Ilhan Omar (who married her brother) spouting her anti-Semitism along her sister-in-crime, Rashida Tlaib (who is up to her neck in campaign corruption).

Not to avoid credit where due, there is California’s Adam Schiff who vows to subpoena everyone who ever said “hello” to Donald Trump or a member of his family or his business. He has problems of his own which just might come to light soon. Of course Jerry Nadler with whom Trump had to deal when a Manhattan businessman (Trump is not to fond of Jerry).

I encourage them to keep running their mouths. Show the people of the United States exactly who you are and what you have planned. Polls just out following the Mueller Report show that a huge number of people are now realizing it WAS a Russia collusion hoax and are increasingly displeased with the Democrats actions.

Cannot imagine a more irritating voice. Rather than 10 minutes of her, I’d prefer listening to a Dalek shouting ‘EXTERMINATE’ through and extremely loud PA system for 2 days. She might be useful as a torture in Guantanamo.

The 22nd Amendment was not even proposed in Congress until 1947, 2 years after FDR’s death. It had to pass both the House of Representatives and Senate by 2/3’s majority and then be ratified by 7/8’s of the states.
