Greta’s very corporate children’s crusade

Turns out she’s not quite the little innocent we were told:

Greta Thunberg is just an ordinary 16-year-old Swedish schoolgirl whose fiery visions have convinced the parliaments of Britain and Ireland to declare a “climate emergency”. Greta’s parents, actor Svante Thunberg and opera singer Malena Ernman, are just an ordinary pair of parent-managers who want to save the planet. Query their motives, and you risk being accused of “climate denial”, or of bullying a vulnerable child with Asperger’s. But the Greta phenomenon has also involved green lobbyists, PR hustlers, eco-academics, and a think-tank founded by a wealthy ex-minister in Sweden’s Social Democratic government with links to the country’s energy companies. These companies are preparing for the biggest bonanza of government contracts in history: the greening of the Western economies. Greta, whether she and her parents know it or not, is the face of their political strategy.

The family’s story is that Greta launched a one-girl “school strike” at the Swedish parliament on the morning of August 20, 2018. Ingmar Rentzhog, founder of the social media platform We Have No Time, happened to be passing. Inspired, Rentzhog posted Greta’s photograph on his personal Facebook page. By late afternoon, the newspaper Dagens Nyheter had Greta’s story and face on its website. The rest is viral.

Whatever Greta or her parents know or think, her eco-mob increases the likelihood of legislation and investment that will make colossal profits for people like Global Challenge, We Don’t Have Time and Sustainable Energy Angels. For Sweden’s energy titans, saving the planet means government contracts to print the green stuff. Green energy lobbyists use populist scare tactics and a children’s crusade to bypass elected representatives, but their goal is technocracy not democracy, profit not redistribution. Greta, a child of woke capitalism, is being used to ease the transition to green corporatism

But this isn’t the full story. In emails, media entrepeneur Rentzhog told me that he “met Greta for the first time” at the parliament, and that he “did not know Greta or Greta’s parents” before then. Yet in the same emails, Rentzhog admitted to meeting Greta’s mother Malena Ernman “3-4 months before everything started”—in early May 2018, when he and Malena had shared a stage at a conference called the Climate Parliament. Nor did Rentzhog stumble on Greta’s protest by accident. He now admits to having been informed “the week before” by “a mailing list from a climate activist” named Bo Thorén, leader of the Fossil Free Dalsland group.

Well I can’t say I’m surprised by this story of child exploitation.

The links to the Club of Rome are telling: they have been crying wolf since 1972 when the Limits to Growth was published. Limits to Growth was very interesting and the later edition is also interesting, however both are entirely based on exponential growth for ever, while new technologies alter that pattern when a resource is threatened and the accuracy of the exponents in the doom-equations was very low. The simplistic approach is similar to that of the AGW brigade using CO2 as the only driving parameter.

Back then CO2 was claimed to be increasing the cooling rate of the earth and we were hurtling towards a CO2 driven ice-age, i.e. it was the emissivity of CO2 that mattered, now it is the absorptivity that is important!

She reminds me of a character in the 1964 science fiction horror movie:

Interesting article, the concluding sentences say it all.

More casual BBC alarmism – Springwatch (yes I was overruled on the BBC licence!).

Presenter was just doing a bird list of catastrophe – well listing upland birds then given the usual nonsense on how badly they were doing.

He gave the stats for the Dotterel – 1987 to 2011 (cherry pick alarm going off?) – 981 v 423 males – a 57% decline, and stated this was believed to be because of climate change.

The RSPB current estimate is 510 – 750 males, so they are increasing again?

Even if climate change is pushing them further North to other countries that is normal adaptation and they will return when the climate cools again.

This appears to be the source of the claim but it gives many possible reasons for decline, including, hold on to your pants, Raven predation – how appropriate Chris Packham!

Finding out the real cause would take research and effort, and no doubt come to an unwanted conclusion for the alarmists. So much easier to shriek ‘Global Warming’ done it!

“Tagged in Rentzhog’s [first Greta] “lonely girl” tweet were five twitter accounts: Greta Thunberg, Zero Hour (youth movement), Jamie Margolin (the teenage founder of Zero Hour), Al Gore’s Climate Reality Project, and the People’s Climate Strike twitter account (in the identical font and aesthetics as 350.org).

Rentzhog is the founder of Laika (a prominent Swedish communications consultancy firm providing services to the financial industry, recently acquired by FundByMe). He was appointed as chair of the think tank Global Utmaning (Global Challenge in English) on May 24, 2018, and serves on the board of FundedByMe. Rentzhog is a member of Al Gore’s Climate Reality Organization Leaders, where he is part of the European Climate Policy Task Force. He received his training in March 2017 by former US Vice President Al Gore in Denver, USA, and again in June 2018, in Berlin.

Founded in 2006, Al Gore’s Climate Reality Project is a partner of We Don’t Have Time.”

It is important to give children examples of human failings and this school strike campaign gives them an important lesson in Hypocrisy. They blame the older generation, but its them causing the environmental problem, not us.

When I was a school child some 55 years ago my carbon footprint was very low, I rode my bicycle or walked to school in all weathers. The school heating went off on the 1st May whatever the weather was doing, and never came on to the 1st of November. If you got too hot in summer, so what!

I now live near a school, and every school day morning there is traffic chaos and congestion, parking on pavements, diesel fumes, I sometimes think the Mum must drop the children off, and the Dad comes in the other car to wave them off! Every teacher turns up in their own car. They have air conditioned classrooms, just in case they get too hot or cold. The carbon footprint of a modern school child is very high. It would be much more environmentally friendly if they all stayed at home and had lessons over the Internet, why not? The traffic congestion problem would be solved.

We are just beginning to hear from this Leni Riefenstahl like child here in the States. She was just interviewed by arch propagandist Christiane Amanpour on public broadcasting. I find both the child propagandist and Amanpour insufferable.

I don’t understand how someone like Greta can travel so far and so fast, apparently with the blessing of various Governments, without a shred of evidence that the Climate is doing anything more than it usually does. This is group hysterical nonsense!
