Dellers on the latest climate guff from Sky News:

Watch in agony – and then enjoy as Sky News gets horribly ratioed for an excruciatingly embarrassing piece of eco-propaganda it posted on Twitter.

Only 400 retweets at the time of writing – but 1,500 comments, mostly from Twitter users aghast that a vaguely reputable news channel should squander its resources on the kind of eco-tosh so fantastically lame it might have been scripted by a 16-year old autistic kid in pigtails.

Headlined ‘Our carbon debt’, the short video tries to reposition the Industrial Revolution – the single greatest leap in living standards in the history of the world – as a terrible mistake for which we should now make amends.

It begins:

“In the 18th Century the Industrial Revolution kickstarted economic growth and modern capitalism – but only at the cost of pumping out millions of tons of carbon into the atmosphere as the years ticked on by…”

Then it shows how much various countries including Britain, the USA, and, latterly, China have contributed to global CO2 output in the years since.

“…with scientists predicting a climate catastrophe and with China pumping ever more pollution into the atmosphere, the greater the challenge of the next century is going to be managing this Carbon Debt. The Debt that Britain started.”

Fortunately, not many of the people watching this outrageous guff appear to be convinced that the revolution which brought higher life expectancy, better living standards and prosperity to millions is something we should seek to undo.

Here is a taste of the comments:

Nope… but they are exposing themselves as an ignorant, shallow and patronising collection of moronic prats – so one can apply that knowledge to the rest of the dross they serve up 🙂

There’s just more money in the scam than trying to challenge it. Money is all to them.

Apparently Theresa May had her own Greta Thunberg moment walking in the Swiss Alps, reported in the Guardian (where else?) here:https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2019/jun/27/theresa-may-swiss-holidays-brought-home-impact-of-climate-crisis
Never mind that the glaciers have been in retreat for around 200 years since the end of the Little Ice Age.
May the Lord deliver us from vicars and their daughters; most churches I’ve visited recently have substantial amounts of greenery on their notice boards. Makes them feel good, doesn’t it?

Atmospheric nuclear tests in the 1950s and the generation of carbon14 mean’t that the CO2 cycle could be measured with the level decreasing to background amounts in 10-14 years, so this carbon debt is a shameful propaganda illusion.

Where CO2 dropped to 150ppm during the last ice age which is only just above the 120ppm level where C3 plants start dying and the CO2 sweet spot for them is in the range of 600 to 1500ppm the current rise after 140 million years of decline should be welcomed but there are no population behaviour manipulation and tax.revenues from this compared to their climate fraud.

Truth to tell, the late 1970s founding director of the UN Environment Programme, Maurice Strong, wanted to ‘destroy Westerm industrial civilisation’ and that was why the environmentalists fixated on vilifying CO2 – because CO2 is an inevitable product of energy. All that was need was media hype, religious fervour, plenty of money and climate legislation. The original Limits to Growth millionaires wanted to keep the rest of us down, so economic prosperity and growth needed to be stopped. Look up Deep Greens.

Odd how the Doctrine of Original Sin still seems to work as a mess-with-the-mind trick.

    I am a Quaker.
I am totally proud of my heritage from the great founders of the Industrial Revolution with our great sky lighting Iron works, first railways, new coal mines, steel making, leaf and silver works, revolutionary new high street Banks and ethical capitalism (what happened to that?), enlightened employment standards, improved animal welfare, anti-slavery, prison reform, mills, confectionary, shoes, biscuits, breweries, and so much more built on the use of coal fired steam engines.

More to the point, all driven by the moral determination to improve living standards, working conditions, education and everything to enhance quality of life. A determination that delivered unlike any other.

With the other nonconformists they changed the world with an economic and social model that has worked better than anything in all history transforming lives and is today still improving the lot of millions, How dare the sad and myopic greens and their fellow travellers, the privileged beneficiaries of that inheritance, criticise? Really, how dare they?

What have they to offer except the destruction of this foundation and bring it all tumbling down in the name of an unproved suspicion that the environment might, just might, stumble and to replace ethical capitalism with a political fantasy that has never worked and never will.

I repeat, I am proud of my Quaker forebears, what they and the other nonconformist achieved, what small part I may have contributed, and I will never apologise.

Agree. The rich MPs, MSPs, environmentalists, UN agencies et al have no right to deprive the rest of us cheap energy and no right to increase our energy costs.

You mention steam. Here is a long video of the steam that helps NYC exist.

with China pumping ever more pollution

They conflate CO2 and pollution. Their bad.
Any place there are people there is CO2 production.
Bronze Age 4th millennium BC: produce bronze by smelting copper and alloying with tin

With prosperity came the wealth and understanding to restrict serious pollutants.

Who is falling for their pitiful and shameless climate propaganda? Only the already deluded and/or ignorant few, we hope.

Major problem, though: the propaganda was believed by UK and Scottish Parliaments so now we have (by LAW) to have 0% emissions of CO2 by 2050. It’s the legislation that will do the damage – close factories, power stations, put up wind turbines and solar panels and increase costs for us. That is, increase poverty as they seek to ‘limit growth.’ Study Deep Green ideology.

No doubt large media owners have invested heavily in carbon trading and the ‘renewables’ bubble and are rubbing their hands together at the thought of the public loot coming their way. But theirs are industries funded entirely by disposable income. When people face a stark choice between heating their homes, running their showers, buying their groceries or their Sky subscription, BBC licence fee or regular newspapers, it’s pretty clear which one will be cut. The only silver lining to all this corrupt nonsense will be to watch these crooks crash and burn.
