BBC’s Meeting With Extinction Rebellion

July 25, 2019

By Paul Homewood

As readers will recall, last week Extinction Rebellion were bragging off about their meeting with BBC big wigs to discuss editorial coverage.

So I thought I would FOI the BBC to confirm whether the meeting actually took place and what was discussed.

I was not surprised when the BBC refused to divulge any information, as evidently it was a state secret!

This was their reply:

image

This response does tell us a couple of things though:

1) They did not deny that the meeting took place

2) They admit that the meeting was held for “purposes of journalism”. I think we can rule out art and literature!

So clearly what Extinction Rebellion said was all true – that they went to discuss the BBC’s editorial coverage of climate change.

How the BBC can then go on to talk about maintaining their editorial independence is beyond me!

The sooner the pay to view alternative comes along the better

I don’t think I am alone in not liking funding the BBC climate party. Misrepresentation comes to mind – they certainly are not impartial.

Alas the alternate media channels are just as prejudiced. ITV, ITN, Chan 4 and 5 are all bigoted propagandists who lie and disemble. I trust RT and Al Jazerra more than the UK bigots. UK media = dross and bullcrap.

XR has been exposed as a subversive political party by a former head of the Metropolitan Police terrorism unit. They are using climate change as a cover.

    The *.pdf download is free.

Irrespective of the usual left wing attacks on the man and the organisation (he resigned days before he was investigated – like senior cops don’t have to serve 3 months notice? And the organisation is opaque in it’s funding – yet is used by government officials for information) this report has been compiled by a man trained in counter terrorism techniques by the Metropolitan Police. It is entirely credible and the BBC ignore it, and XR’s subversive political agenda, at their peril.

“do not expect the tools of state enforcement such as the BBC to truthfully report revolutionary actions.” It argued that the “narratives of the mainstream media must be debunked” and that “the Rebellion will centre young and marginalised voices.”

Essentially, the far left cult got meetings with Gove and McDonnell despite having zero scientific crediblity in any their claims (or any science at all) and now have been given an air of credibility by a left wing news organisation that was publically sitting on the fence (I stress, publically). I expect a cascade of news items pushed on the corruptible by the intersectional yoof wing of the BBC with more anti capitalist crap and ‘muh feelings’ to sell the message.

I dunno. Gluing yourselves to trees, roads and the London Stock Exchange might be seen as modern art.

Maybe if the authorities left them in place for a month or so, we could properly appreciate the artistic merit of their installations.

This is just PURE PROPAGANDA, surely? – I’m not going to add any more.

The BBC are no better than a bunch of criminals. They were, again, at their diabolical worst today claiming UK temperature records again from Heathrow airport. Does the BBC and the Met office realise how stupid they are pretending a thermometer surrounded by four runways and terminal building’s will supply uncorrupted data? They are both like a bad nightmare. We have reached the point where fake news is more prevalent than real, factual news reporting.

“Public inquiry into the bias in the BBC”

    Watch the debate: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pAu4gz2VWeo

    Read the transcript: https://hansard.parliament.uk/commons/2019-07-15/debates/AF16A1B4-E52D-46BC-9EEF-555F504FD7B2/BBC

A complete whitewash, hardly any discussion of bias at all. Read the whole Hansard link if you can stomach it.

    • Martin Howard Keith Brumby permalink

Absolutely right. But I’d urge everyone to read the transcript for a superb illustration of what we are up against. By an amazing co-incidence, the ‘topic du jour’ was the withdrawal of free telly for over 75s and at least 95% of the discussion concentrated on this and other BBC funding issues.

True a number of Committee members did confirm, in passing, their admiration of the BBC and all who sail in her. And warmly congratulate the Beeb on masterworks like ‘Gentleman Jack’. Hmmm.

The very idea of bias was obviously well outside the World View of everyone, with the exception of two Labour Members. Clive Lewis (Norwich South – including UEA) is obviously totally deranged or further ‘Left’ than Trotsky or Pol Pot, because he took some little troube to explain how the BBC was thoroughly dominated and biased towards RIGHT WING policies.
He was followed by Graham Stringer who had a few sensible comments on actual bias and noted that both he and Peter Lilley were effectively banned from commenting on the BBC on anything relating to science or the environment. But it would be fair to say that his views were expressed timidly and obviously not in the expectation of any support.

And that was that. Job done.

Of course, the very idea of expecting MPs to have any sensible discussion whatever on BBC bias was doomed from the start. As I opined in an email of complaint to my MP, Julian Sturdy, it “is likely to be as useful as it might have been asking Myra Hindley what she thought of Rosie West’s kindness & humanity”.

But there is a deeper and more troubling problem. If this is the utter contempt that MPs have for the opinions of over a hundred thousand of their voters, there is absolutely no point in signing a petition about anything.

And if there is no ‘respectable’ means of getting those inside the Westminster bubble to even consider the validity of opinions deemed ‘politically incorrect’, there will always be those disturbed individuals tempted to the kind of absolutely abhorrent action taken by Anders Breivik.

There is a simple test of the meaning of impartiality. If you were a lawyer involved in a Court case which involved discussing the rights and wrongs of any general subject, and you saw that the jury was made up of BBC bigwigs, would you say to your client “This is all to play for! These are wise old birds who value fairness above everything!” or would you say “Let’s not waste time. This case is done.” ?

The meaning of, “The BBC is impartial,” seems to have shrunk to, “We do not explicitly endorse candidates of the Left, during General Elections (in the UK).” They seem to think this is very balanced of them.

Gail Bradbrooke – Official professional activist. Seems the government want XR to push their “climate” programme, ready for the COP-Fest next year. What better place to start than the BBC. Gove has also met with them. Although he is now gone from DEFRA, the policies will continue.

    https://rebellion.earth/2019/04/30/extinction-rebellion-today-8-45am-john-mcdonnell-11-30am-michael-gove-4-30pm-xr-families-the-treasury/

At least Theresa May turned down the chance to meet St Greta.

    https://nowhere.news/index.php/2019/04/01/dr-gail-marie-bradbrook-compassionate-revolutionary-for-hire/

“Gail Bradbrook has spent the past 18 years on the pay-roll of charities, NGOs and political ‘think-tanks’ (like the Blairite/New Labour IPPR), being funded by J. P. Morgan Chase (which happens to be the UN’s bank), BT, Shell, Microsoft, CISCO, Panasonic, Goldman Sachs, BAE Systems, NEON Communications (whose ‘Director of Global Sales’, Lord Anthony Tudor St John, is heavily invested in 5G technology and also sits as trustee of Citizens Online), IBM, Unilever, N. M. Rothschild & Sons … you name it: the whole ‘in the club’ of corporate funny-handshake hegemony – to give ‘independent advice’ to government and help develop government strategies, policies and to define their objectives.

    https://nowhere.news/index.php/2019/04/06/political-charities-and-the-brave-new-world-of-professional-activism/

Gail’s career as ‘professional activist’ begins at Business in the Community, one of the Prince’s Charities. BITC describes itself as “the leading authority on corporate community involvement in the UK” and a “business-led membership organisation made up of progressive businesses”.

Corporate talking heads from tip-to-stern, with a heavy focus on finance, digital-identification and the tech/data industries. Remarkable how so few notice the similarities between the rhetoric of the world’s industrial-financial elites (the Davos, globalist types), the UN, and that of certain factions within so-called ‘radical environmental’ groups.”

For years the EU has paid NGO’s to lobby it for legislation. The same has been common in the US EPA, with revolving doors between government departments and NGO’s, as here also.

It was one thing when the BBC decided the “science is settled ” and so didn’t have to question that, but they are so biased and stupid that they don’t get that “science”, economics and politics are all different things. Instead they assume the science says we must immediately reduce CO2 – but that is an economic/political decision.

I suggest we challenge the BBC on this because they are conflating their stated science position with non-science in a wholly unacceptable way. We can accept the science and still argue we should do nothing about CO2 – and the BBC should be respecting and covering the arguments why, not pandering to an extreme political (not science) view and pretending that political views is “the science”.

  16. July 26, 2019 9:18 am

If man-made CO2 was zero we would still have most of the so-called greenhouse gas that was there before (let’s say) 1800, i.e. water vapour and naturally produced CO2. Let’s see that on the BBC.

The other very inconvenient CO2 facts are that it was far higher in previous ice ages than today. Also between 1940 and 1970 there was a sharp fall in temperatures as CO2 levels continued to rise.

Off topic but it seems that the Cambridge weather station that recorded the “record” July temperature was moved from a location close to the River Cam and relocated to a tight courtyard of modern concrete and glass buildings right next to The Cambridge University Computing Centre. This building has a plethora of air conditioning units on its roof. I wonder why they would chose such a location?

  18. July 26, 2019 10:26 am

This is a scandal and the BBC, through bias, a closed mind and ignorance, is complicit in promoting CC against all available evidence.

I’m currently reading ‘Disasters & Climate Change ‘ by R. Pielke jr who disputes ANY connection between CC and an increase in natural disasters.

He has been called a climate denier despite his belief that some CC is manmade.

One day the bubble must burst on the whole CC hoax/racket.

Are we surprised at the lack of credibility that is BBC News journalism? This is the robust editorial journalist organisation that at first said the 2004 Tsunami in Asia was caused by Climate Change (yes they did!), They also does regular reports on the UK East Coast coastal erosion of Glacial Moraines and calls this Climate Change.

My opinion is it is time for the BBC to go, now a totally pointless organisation, it should be made extinct, we have all evolved beyond what it purports to achieve.

As to the rest well you cannot take seriously any organisation that puts “Naked Attraction” and “Love Island” on terrestial TV.

I’m sure that – as the science is settled for the BBC – the BBC will, in future, artfully come up with some fictional literature, perhaps in drama script or science reports form, to support the so-called ‘settled science’ and try to continue to convince everyone about AGW & CC.
