Climate Hysteria: Rising Number Of Children Treated For ‘Eco-Anxiety’

September 16, 2019

By Paul Homewood

From GWPF:

Protests by groups such as Extinction Rebellion, the recent fires in the Amazon and apocalyptic warnings by the teenage activist Greta Thunberg have prompted a “tsunami” of young people seeking help.

A group of psychologists working with the University of Bath says it is receiving a growing volume of enquiries from teachers, doctors and therapists unable to cope.

The Climate Psychology Alliance (CPA) told The Daily Telegraph some children complaining of eco-anxiety have even been given psychiatric drugs.

The body is campaigning for anxiety specifically caused by fear for the future of the planet to be recognised as a psychological phenomenon.

However, they do not want it classed as a mental illness because, unlike standard anxiety, the cause of the worry is “rational” (sic!).

“A lot of parents are coming into therapy asking for help with the children and it has escalated a lot this summer,” said Caroline Hickman, a teaching fellow at Bath and a CPA executive.

“The symptoms are the same [as clinical anxiety], the feelings are the same, but the cause is different.

“The fear is of environmental doom – that we’re all going to die.”

What can we do? Simple – explain the facts to kids, and they will soon realise there is no “climate catastrophe”.

It really is tragic how children’s mental health is being put at risk by the lies and propaganda at the heart of the climate scare.

    A Dalton minimum is imminent. The ice is returning. Winter is coming. Prepare!

    Climate anxiety is predicated on the view, the belief that a warmer climate and extreme weather is imminent…right around the corner. “Urgent” moves to stop it are rarely placed in context with the plans to accomplish it… Twelve years?? By 2050? These timelines need to be quantified. Amounts of CO2 to be lowered and removed in tons per year. Total years to reach Net-zero and years to lower and store CO2 to reach 350 ppm. It is likely that these very large numbers would lower anxiety and provide questions as to the reality of the Paris plans.

    Yes I know that winter’s coming – maybe earlier and more severe than “forecast”, BUT oh oh oh my head ! I am completely stressed out wih all this anxiety talk. I am he child of my parents too -and don’t believe in all this garbag – so Pleeeeeease don’t count me in – even if I am one of the 48.97% who want to remain in disagreement with climate change in ANY type or form. 😉

    Just let the Children of the UK play in the snow this winter.

      But the UK children won’t know what snow is. How can they play with it then? A climate research project along the lines of “Basic instruction for playing in winter conditions which are weather, and not climate-related”, is urgently required!

    A friends son (8 years) was having nightmares about Walrus hurtling off cliffs, after the Attenborough documentary. I just wish someone, with cash to spare, would take out injunctions against the green looney doom merchants. Maybe we could crowdfund it.

    This is Child abuse big style, and I suspect the Schools are in the main, the start of it. After all Children are at school longer than at home.

    This is her website at Bath University.

    If she only pointed out to her child patients, that in reality, for the last 20+years, there has been no indication of climate change in the UK. No change in temperature, pressure, humidity, rainfall (volume or duration), sunshine, wind speed. These are facts based on observations. But of course they only deal in computer models and not reality.

    Climate change, if real, may change habitats: some for the better, some for the worse. It is certainly not an existential crisis.
    And yet when I was growing up the theory of Mutually Assured Destruction and the prospect of nuclear conflict were real and, yes, existential.
    However I don’t remember a huge mental health crisis back then.

      My wife, who was a child in Canada in the 60’s, remembers being afraid that when she went to school, she wouldn’t see her family again. The ‘Great Nuclear Threat’ was probably being pushed as hard as ‘Climate Change’ is today – but with more reason behind it. And as far as the UK was concerned, it was the Americans hyping up the Cuba Nuke threat. Europe had been living on Russia’s doorstep for too long to worry much.
      I think the difference was that in those days (creak, creak) we were educated enough to see through the doom-criers threats!

    Child Abuse, plain and simple.

    Lets all tell 9-year old children that they will be dead by the time they are 25 because of adults. Do it in the street, in the school, at friends parties. See if you get arrested…

    True thing. Stress is usually caused by things you can’t control. For kids with their undeveloped personalities and mental faculties, they will be unable to understand the enormity of the ‘threat’ and overwhelmed by the total inability to do anything about it. Thunberg, her parents and all the rest are disgusting human beings, absolutely devoid of any morals. Global warming is definitely out of control; that is of the people who claimed it was happening and then it didn’t.

    Is it any wonder when teachers and parents march with their kids “to save the planet” amplified by the media and politicians who are deeply in bed with the doomsday cultists. It’s disgusting and shameful. The only saving needed is from the quasi religious cult of eugenicists and their acolytes. 😡

    I’m all in favour of school children striking over global warming provided :-
    they give up their smartphones and tablets;
    close all their social media accounts;
    insist on walking or cycling to school;
    never wear throw away fashion clothing;
    make sure they learn about the long and the short carbon cycles;
    never drink Coca Cola or patronise MacDonalds;
    promise never to fly to a holiday;
    make sure they have no more than two children.
    Then I’llbelieve they mean what they say.

    Considering I read England put a ONE year old child on anti-depressants (I believe, doing this from memory) and we are butchering our children and drugging them so they can pretend to be a different sex than they are, I would say most of the planet hates their children and abuses them on a regular basis. Any society that so abuses their children, so lacks love and concern for them, is DOOMED. We’re well on the way over that cliff.

    What a shame! Our self-proclaimed scientific “elite” is completely hooked on the ipcc’s doom&gloom hockestick parade, building their careers on the CO2-hoax, claiming everyone who thinks differently is a Nazi etc… With the growing hysteria they are poisoning the minds of our youngsters, everywhere in western countries… we have nice marches and rallies every friday in our cities with crazed kids jumping up and down for a climate change, kids becoming psychotic …. And meanwhile the climate doesn’t care and just continues as if nothing happened. These are crazy times.

    The only catastrophe is the unnecessary harm arising to children from irresponsible climate fearmongers who don’t know what they’re talking about.

    Non of this is new, just history repeating itself. When I was at school in the 60’s the scientific consensus scare, was that overpopulation was going to lead to worldwide famine and unimaginable problems. It was forced down our gullible throats by school teachers who knew no better.

    The leading scientist in this scaremongering was Paul R Ehrlich with his 1968 thesis “Population Bomb”.

    He predicted death by the 100 millions in the 1970’s, “The battle to feed all of humanity is over”. What happened to Ehrlich? did he regret the predictions that caused so much of a scare, not a bit of it, he still thinks he was right and climate change proves him so, even though he never mentioned climate change at all in his thesis.

    So what did the Scientific Community do to Paul R Ehrlich, surely they shunned him for being so wrong, no, they elevated him to Fellow of the Royal Society, which of course makes it official that you cannot rely on Scientific consensus, might as well make your own mind up.

      There should be no place for “consensus” in science. Science is supposed to be based on published scientific theories supported by repeatable experiments and/or accurate models.

      Let us not forget another of the, now conveniently forgotten, scares of fifty years ago. A ship taking Agent Orange to Vietnam might sink, all the life in the ocean would die, photosynthesis would stop, the oxygen in the air would not be renewed, and the whole world would be asphyxiated in no time.

      A common theme through the years, of course, is virulent anti-Americanism in the mouths of all “environmentalists,” as America is imagined to be the ultimate Capitalist Monster. Another theme is claiming “it is all scientific fact.”

    When I was at school in the 50s and 60s the fear was not “environmental doom – we’re all going to die”, it was “nuclear war – USA v USSR, we’re all going to die”

    In hindsight, that was a more realistic fear, because it was not based on pseudo-science but on a recognition that Mutually Assured Destruction and human error were an inherently unstable combination (even if you didn’t accept the view that the Russians were bastards bent on turning the rest of the world into East-European style slave states).

    As a kid, the threat of nuclear war worried me – a lot. But I just carried on with life because even at that age I realised that I could do nothing personally.

    Maybe that is the difference between then and now. So many people think that by social media they can influence, and change policies and outcomes. I think that they are correct in their assessment of their power. The trouble is that they don’t have the humility to recognise that they may not, actually, be correct in their beliefs.

    Dear kids, everything you’ve seen in your short live has been weather not climate. If you wish to look at what climate change looks like look up the various weather reports for the last 250 years or so, and see what has happened in your lifetime is quite normal, quite uneventful compared to when CO2 was far too low.
    Read this from James A. Marusek, Nuclear Physicist & Engineer, U.S. Department of the Navy, retired (Notable Weather Events from 1AD through to 1901, I suggest that you start at page 710.
    or read about what your future may hold if some (of the many) the solar predictions are correct …

    The problem with the climate change scare is that it has now gone on for so long and has had so much money wasted on it. It is just too late for those who have been promoting it to back down and admit that they were wrong. Hence the racking up of the doomsday predictions to ludicrous levels. I think that they are now in the position of a desperate gambler wanting to go double or quits, they are staking everything on a total climate meltdown which is obviously never going to happen. These kids are the collateral damage resulting from this. Surely some of these kids must come into contact with sane people now and again though.
