Falling Walruses: Attenborough Tacitly Admits Netflix Deception

November 4, 2019

The GWPF have just issued this press release regarding yesterday’s episode of David Attenborough’s latest series:

 image

Back in the spring, he was accused of deceiving viewers when he claimed, in his Netflix show Our Planet, that walruses were falling off Siberian clifftops as a result of climate change.

This was shown to be untrue by Canadian biologist and mammal expert Dr Susan Crockford, who described the abundant scientific literature, dating back many decades, showing that walruses have always taken to the land, and even fallen from clifftops. She also pointed out that the footage Attenborough used to make his case seemed to have come from a well-documented incident when walruses had been driven over cliffs by polar bears.

Yesterday, in his new BBC documentary Seven Worlds, One Planet, Attenborough again showed falling walruses, but this time making it quite clear that polar bears were driving them off the cliff. Remarkably, however, the footage he used appears to be from the same incident and shot by the same cameraman as shown in his Netflix documentary, despite the producers’ claims at the time that no bears had been in the vicinity.

Attenborough therefore seems to be tacitly admitting that the claims he made in the Netflix film, and the denials issued by the show’s camera team and producers, were untrue.

GWPF director Dr Benny Peiser welcomed Attenborough’s climb-down.

We can only be pleased that Sir David has stepped back from the deceptive claims he made in his Netflix show. He and the producers should apologise for the trick they pulled and withdraw the Netflix film that has badly misled and unnecessarily traumatised millions of people and news media around the world”.

Attenborough was great, IN HIS DAY, but now he’s just another ‘warmist’, a lying spoof-bandit, and although his progs are just watchable, many of us have had ENOUGH. Now, he’s just another very wealthy bbc apparatchik busily spewing the same old ‘save the planet’ nonsense. Time to retire old boy, you’ve had a hellova good run, over decades, but put your binocks away now!

I think that he is simply a brand now, and that he has little to do with what is done in his name other than reading out the words others have written. He is an environmentalist’s tool, but of course well paid for his narrations.

Not quite. He spouts the same nonsense when he is not being paid so he can have no defence.

It’s no comfort is it, amidst an unstoppable tsunami of emotive climate lies. The lie cannot be retracted, the effect of the lie cannot be undone.

It’s rinse and repeat. A massive climate alarmist propaganda lie is released, skeptics are ridiculed and dismissed for disputing it, then months or years later the skeptics are proved right, but by then no one cares.

Everybody will remember the netflix film as truth and still be weeping and blaming themselves for climate change.

And it is now superseded by the pitiful fluffy albatross chick deception (with no actual significant change in SSTs or weather, their decline being blatantly caused by rodent predation and industrial fishing bycatch).

In both cases, as shown by the GoggleBox viewer reaction, the powerful propaganda succeeded – the effect cannot be undone.

And subsequently the Walrus and Albatross messages were amplified when they were picked up by newspapers and other media, and even featured prominently in BBC points of view.

It’s a lost battle. The liars have already ‘won’, the brainwashing works.

But we have to understand that it was global warming that made the polar bears so hungry that they had to eat fat, goofy, smelly animals like a walrus instead of tasty little seals.

I watched the programme on the BBC last night. There was still the implicit subtext of “It’s our fault” in the presentation.
I do not think the fact that the walrus were driven off the cliff by fear of polar bears, who had clearly taken the trouble to climb up to the top, was an accident. I saw polar bears, a highly intellegent predator engaging in a successful hunting strategy with the aim of driving the walrus off the cliff and to their death.
I am not sure that all falls were in fact fatal. In one scene, taken from the beach, a walrus fell out of view beyond the boulders, and then a huge plume of water marked the site of the impact as the walrus clearly went straight into the sea.

I think that the expensive boat bought by the taxpayer and named ‘Sir David Attenborough’ should be confiscated and awarded the name sought from the public in competition (‘Boaty McBoatface’.

I didn’t read it as a climb down. The general impression and the one that the majority of viewers will believe was that climate change was the reason. I should not be let of the hook so lightly. What about last weeks episode when albatrosses were in danger from climate change when even cursory research would have shown that the reason was long-line fishing practices.

I saw the clip and thought DA said that the walruses climbed the cliff because there was no room on the beach and this was because CC had caused the sea levels to rise and make the beach smaller. Utter rubbish of course but, but as DA said it, must be true.

I think DA said that the reason for these distressing scenes was that global warming had reduced Arctic ice – where the walrus used to go – forcing them to visit the Siberian beaches instead.

Sorry, he should not be let of the hook not I.

David Bellamy was the BBC’s go to guy for years, until he refused to spout the Govt / BBC’s ‘CO2 mantra’ many years back, so was dispensed with along with his co-hosts.
This is what happens to people with principals.

Johnny Ball was speaking up against the climate change nonsense again recently. Another high profile figure forced into obscurity. Bellamy and Ball have both slightly misspoken and got things wrong in the past. They were both forced to retire from the climate debate by the subsequent outrage/bullying. (Similarly the reaction when Lawson made a slip on the BBC.)

This is the difference. A skeptic makes one slight innocent mistake and they’re demonized. Alarmists calculatedly relentlessly lie and carry on regardless, even when caught bang to rights.

It isn’t a level playing field, chiefly thanks to the complicity of most of the MSM.

We have just had 15 minutes of nonsense from David King on radio 4 supposedly to mirror the concern of listeners as regards election issues, 4% of whom said it was a concern to them.

They said they would return to the subject. I bet they will. I also bet other issues as low down the list as this doesn’t get anywhere near as much exposure

Pleased to see this lie nailed again. I helped Susan Crockford by trawling through the blog of Evgeniy Basov, the local naturalist who was an advisor to the BBC team, with his personal photos and times and dates revealed by EXIF data.

I recommend that NotaLotters refrain from listening to Sir David King on PM this evening. They will only end up throwing their radios through the window. One of his most egregious observations was that there were not many sceptics in the Tory party and those who ere tended to keep their scepticism to themselves as they were aware that the majority of people believed in CC. Whatever happened – and God forbid that Evan Davies would ask him – to sceptics in science? Also, Sir David, what would happen if CO2 was doubled from (you say) its equivalent 500 ppm?

Hmm, mind you, he – attenboro is an apology.

The truth will out and has done, alas the blizzard of climate warbling and extinction lies remains almost untouched.

Commented at the time of the original posting of this episode that it was an unexplained contrived video.
Well well, so it was and full public apologies should be made for making suchisleading claims.
This is why so called claims of “Global Warming” are a sham as this is NOT an isolated incident.

The Walrus had a choice, on one side it had a top class predator (Polar Bear), and on the other side a top class predator ( Homo Sapiens). The Polar Bear is an intelligent predator and would have known the presence of humans often makes conditions for an easy kill.

Faced with this choice the Walrus took a chance and rolled down the cliff to try to escape.

Unfortunately David Attenborough and his crew think in all of their natural history films that they are filming natural predator behaviour. But what they record is behaviour of prey to the presence of two separate predators. The film crew always occupy the only safe ground either knowingly or unknowingly.

They lie, and lie, and lie, and lie some more, and then they make up something for a change. And they never face consequences for their lies. Every regular person faces some consequences when they lie but those like Attenborough make a climbdown and are feted for it. They entertain the biggest fraud of all times impoverishing billions. They should be put on the pillory.
