China says it’s already met 2020 climate goals

BEIJING — China has realized its 2020 target for reducing carbon emissions ahead of schedule, the ecology and environment ministry reported Wednesday.

The ministry said China’s CO2 emissions per unit of GDP had fallen last year by 4 percent from a year earlier to stand at 45.8 percent less than in 2005.

Vice Minister Zhao Yingmin told reporters that completed the target of CO2 reduction for 2020 ahead of schedule, while 14.3 percent of the energy China consumes now comes from non-fossil fuel sources.

“These are hard-won results from the efforts of promoting a green and low carbon economy,” Zhao said.

Emissions per unit of GDP are irrelevant. All maturing economies tend to become less energy intensive, as they grow into low energy sectors such as services and consumer goods.

This is why China chose to set themselves such an easy and meaningless target in the first place.

In reality, actual CO2 emissions have risen from 6096 to 9419 Mt, an increase of 55%.

As for the 14.3% of non-fossil fuel energy, most is actually hydro and nuclear. Renewables only contribute 4%, hardly stunning.

I expect Harrabin will be spinning this for all he’s worth, if he has not already!

The headline will fool all the gullible idiots promoting the “climate emergency”. They never read beyond the headlines to find the true situation.

China have this one cracked. Show your emissions in direct relation to GDP. Brilliant! As long as GDP can be shown to be increasing at a slightly higher rate than CO2 emissions, you’re always ahead of the game, even though CO2 emissions are continually increasing, which of course, is not the way the game was supposed to work(make no mistake, it is a game). Devilish cunning!

Who ever says the Communist Chinese are honest needs to be ignored or mocked to no end.
But the thing is they have a heck of a lot more worry about than meeting emissions standards:
All the warning lights are flashing on the dashboard of the Chinese economy.
Of course far be it for Bloomberg to tell their readers why this is happening even though it could be summed up with one name. TRUMP!

I believe we truly are on the verge of a global economic realignment that will ripple far into future generations. The globalists have been set back decades even if they don’t realize it yet. And all the claims about coming climate disasters requiring we give up our liberties and wealth is not going to stop the realignment that is coming.
Listened to Bill O’Reilly interview President Trump. Here is the link to the 42 minute interview of you want to listen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KUljxLj-Q7s&feature=youtu.be
But if you don’t the single most important thing in that interview was when Bill asked the President what the hold up was in making a deal with China?
President Trumps answer: “I am”! The president went on to explain that for decades the Chinese have been taking 100’s of billions dollars out of the US economy and that he does not seek just an even deal. He is seeking a deal that is advantageous to the US to make up for all the years of losses. It is clear that he is not ready to cut China any slack at all.

And they are right. China has no real reduction targets, they don’t even have an obligation to reduce emissions growth. It’s only a “make the right statements” obligation. Who is feeling duped here?

Like the Chinese really care anyway. They will do what is best for them.

The communist regime will do what is best for it and that has nothing to do with what is best for it’s citizens or anyone or anything else.

Why do alarmists always counter China’s massive CO2 emissions by saying, ah but look at per capita, and historical developed world emissions. Justice, it’s only fair to let them catch up. If it’s a genuine emergency, ‘justice’ would be completely irrelevant. The alarmists seem oblivious to the fact that they have just exposed their own lie.

China overtook our emissions per capita in 2014. Since then, the difference has of course widened to around 30% more there than here.

One chimney the exhaust gas is mostly going straight then to the right up , while the next two show a strong wind. While the cooling towers moisture can vary with the humidity, only one tower is working despite multiple power units under high load.

More Chinese statistics carefully prepared in advance of the Madrid COP. Perhaps the one thing we can say is that Trump’s trade war has slowed the Chinese economy and hence their emissions.
