David Attenborough Accused Of Misleading Public About Polar Bears, Again

December 2, 2019

By Paul Homewood

The GWPF have submitted a formal complaint to the BBC about the latest Attenborough programme:

In last night’s wildlife TV series Seven Worlds, One Planet David Attenborough and the BBC once again misled the public in a most egregious way.
In the programme, Sir David made false claims, used emotionally manipulative language and blatantly misrepresented several natural biological processes and habitat conditions as the effects of human-caused climate change.

Excerpt from letter of complaint

Contrary to David Attenborough’s claim, summers are not a time of starvation for polar bears. The bears shown hunting beluga whales from the shore of Hudson Bay were neither starving nor desperate: they were already fat and healthy after feeding on young seal in spring.
Contrary to Attenborough’s claim, the behaviour shown of polar bears hunting belugas from shore in summer is not extraordinary, is not confined to this area of the Canadian Arctic and has not ‘only been reported in recent years.’ In fact, similar hunting strategies by polar bears have been reported at least since the 1980s.
Rather than a new behaviour born of climate-change induced desperation, this is a relatively rare but not unheard-of hunting strategy by healthy polar bears.

The GWPF has previously pointed out serious misrepresentations about walruses and climate change in Attenborough’s Our Planet series on Netflix.

Are we ever likely to hear an apology for his mendacity? To think how revered he once was and of course still is by the majority of head in the sand ignoramuses who blindly accept everything he says.

I read the Telegraph article and had an interesting thought. Will it be the lies that cause the death of the climate change scam? Most people still have faith in science and, I think that may be the reason why they still believe. As the alarmists are getting more desperate though, their claims are getting ever more ridiculous. It is no longer the “Deniers” who are seen as the crackpots.

CountryFile was hilarious last night, covering floods, especially coastal.

There they were standing in places where the land was obviously at or well below sea/river level blaming climate change, when blatantly the only thing that ever kept the land dry was ongoing proactive engineering works, and even then there would be issues sometimes. These problems are nothing new.

The punchline was that by 2050, 1 in 100 year storms would be yearly – he said that with a completely straight face! (I believe the numbers are right, but regardless if my memory has slipped, the claim was outrageous.)

Attenborough should book a trip for him and his crew on one of the Polar Bear Experience trips in Churchill:

Your Sir David (Dingbat Dave) has reached the level of Baghdad Bob (aka Comical Ali), the Iraqi that appeared on TV saying totally erroneous things about the invading soldiers – “none near” as they appeared in the background.
    Hilarious.

If you look on google scholar there is a paper about 3 belugas attacked by polar bears in 1970! This is when there was plenty of ice and meteorologists were worried about a coming ice age,

Apparently Norse poets (medieval Scandinavia) referred to Polar Bears as:-

White Sea Deer, The Seal’s Dread, The Rider of Icebergs, The Whale’s Bane, and The Sailor of the Floe.

The Whale’s Bane – hmmmmmm, I wonder why!

As I see it, the game is up and I think that they know it. If we really were seeing dangerous climate change there would be a constant stream of genuine climate stories for them to report on. The fact is that there are non. So we have the BBC reporting on any mundane piece of bad weather and trying to pretend that it is new and unprecedented when anyone with a little bit of life experience knows otherwise. This particular story is alarmist nonsense but the difference is that it is completely fabricated, they are actually reporting with a straight face that these rather plump looking polar bears are starving. this indicates just how far down the barrel they are now having to scrape, is there really anyone left who believes such obvious lies? Well on the thread below the DM article I did spot one but the spelling and punctuation suggests that he wasn’t very bright.

I agree. The left and their press simply don’t know when they’ve lost because they’re so used to winning. Thus their response is to make their claims more outrageous, strident, frequent and spend more assets on trying to figure out how to sell their narratives to us ignorant peons. We see this pattern in Brexit, in the US Congress and “news”, etc.

It’s only a matter of time before we hear of bears so desperate they hint seals. Guess they normally get by on ice!

A Telegraph writer has wised up today…
“The UN’s ‘woke’ climate change propaganda is an insult to science”

I was always a ‘middle-grounder’, rather than a ‘denier’ – until I discovered the extent of the dishonesty

It’s a testament to the Disneyfication of society that anyone gave credence to such a ridiculous claim. Polar bears are general purpose predators and will happily kill anything they can.

Seem to remember another, pre activist, Attenborough documentary that had a Polar bear attacking (beluga? Small white ones?) whales trapped in a hole in the ice waiting for it to melt. (Blue Planet?) This was some twenty years ago!

I remember the scars on their backs from the bears efforts.
