Forget About Your Health & Livelihoods, Cutting CO2 Is More Important
By Paul Homewood

From the Brighton Argus:
A LABOUR MP has warned of the negative environmental impact newly announced changes to rules surrounding coronavirus could have.
Boris Johnson told people who are unable to work from home that they “should be actively encouraged to go to work” but urged them to maintain social distancing measures by avoiding public transport.
The Prime Minister said: “When you do go to work, if possible do so by car or even better by walking or bicycle.”
Brighton Kemptown MP Lloyd Russell-Moyle argued that the resulting increase in car use will create a spike in carbon emissions.
He said: “Telling people to go back to work and avoid public transport will lead to an influx of car use. This, in turn, will exacerbate our air quality crisis which all evidence shows is an exacerbating factor for Covid-19. The announcement overnight is reckless to say least.”
Russell-Moyle apparently believes that cutting emissions of carbon dioxide is more important than people’s health and livelihoods.
As for air pollution, the lockdown appears to have made no difference at all.

Excuse me if I am mistaken but isn’t air quality all about noxious gasses and particulates? Since when did this il-educated fool think that a few ppm increase in the trace gas of life CO2 is going to somehow behave as a taxi service for the Corona Virus? How have we come to the point where people in public office are able to get away with spouting rubbish because this is not in anyway solving problems only putting political weight behind non existent ones. It is time that spouting unqualified twaddle pretending a scientific basis draws public shame and ridicule because that is all it deserves! Heaven help us we will next have the sage like utterances of Dianne Abbot pontificating on this subject!
That ‘few’ ppm of CO2 is today ~135 ppm, or over 1000 gigatons. The important point is the fact that all those tons has accomplished little more than an increase in the global mean temperature anomaly of only +0.8°C. Yet, this is the existential climate crisis and emergency? The one in need of rapid lowering of carbon fuel emissions in the important world-wide transport industries? It is those particulate aerosols in the exhaust that are the air-pollution problem, not the CO2. And with the virus-created stay-at-home reduction in people moving around, that pollution has been reduced. One benefit of the health crisis, left out in the race to lower fossil fuels to Net-zero by 2050.
Sorry Broadlands, you say that 135ppm of Co2 has increased temp by +0.8c.
Where is your evidence for this bold (absurd) statement. Temps have risen over the past 100yrs by +0.8c due to our planet’s changing relationship to our changing sun. CO2 does not influence atmospheric temp. No-one has shown any proof that it does or could! Can you? Experiments please not anecdotes.
Reply to Bobn..Sorry you got so upset. That is only what we are being told by our climatologist friends. It’s called the greenhouse effect taking place for over the last 200 years. I’m not sure they would agree that CO2 does not influence atmospheric temperature. But, 0.8°C is not a climate emergency.
Jonathon,
It’s all got to do with the hyphenated surname name, I thought everyone knew that – it takes all their brainpower to remember it and to correct everybody else when they don’t pronaounce it properly/completely!!
Most MP’s are the same:
https://www.theyworkforyou.com/debates/?id=2020-05-12a.177.0&s=climate+change#g205.0
Liberal Democrat MP for Richmond Park, also an accountant!
“The Government need to think now about the future of our transport network. We have the opportunity that we have been waiting for to drive through real change to achieve a greener transport network and to meet the challenge of climate change. The massive drop of cars on our roads has led to massively increased air quality…”
TWAT….If you write that on the guardian comments it gets removed.
The Guardian, such a bastion of free speech.! LOL!
Komment Macht Frei.
From Wikipedia……….” Russell-Moyle sparked controversy when he labelled anti-Corbyn Labour MPs as “cunts” during an exchange on social media with a colleague, which was leaked to The Sun”

So yes you can call him a TWAT ‘cos he is one. I am going to try and post that quote on the Graun website………what do you reckon the chances of it staying up are?!
I wonder what Mr Russell – Moyle made of Michael O’Leary’s announcement today that he will start Ryanair flying to Europe in June with full planes to most holiday destinations despite the threat of quarantine for returning passengers, which he says holiday- makers will ignore anyway because it’s not a science based restriction due to having exceptions like Ireland and France. What a refreshing change to hear someone on MSM with such a can-do attitude. Good on him.
There’s 46,494 excess deaths in England & Wales in the first 6 weeks of CV19 – double it for 3 months, still less than the winter excess in 1950/51 of 106,400.
https://www.theguardian.com/theguardian/2011/jan/06/flu-epidemic-hits-south-lancashire-1951
The deaths surged, but abated all on their own – strange that, with no lockdown.

This is E&W excess deaths.

2017/18 49,410

“This, in turn, will exacerbate our air quality crisis …”.
Oh Lord not another ‘crisis’, the media have gone ‘crisis’ mad.
The overuse of ‘crisis’ is verbal inflation that impoverishes the language and, as Orwell pointed out, thought itself.
It is absolutely clear that today’s Labia Party doesn’t care a fiddler’s fart how many working people lose their jobs, their homes, their lives. Just so long as they can keep bloviating about saving the planet.
The real question for HMG is why they took advice from a far left “scientist” with a long history of ludicrous shroudwaving (and an inability to keep his dick in his pants) and decide on that advice to carpet bomb the economy. And they are now extending this kunning plan until October.
The only complaint we hear from the opposition parties (and their mouthpiece the BBC) is that they should have started bombing sooner and use more and bigger bombs.
Disgraceful.
The MP for Brighton. You must understand that he has to compete for attention with Caroline Lucas.
I’ve just updated my page on pollution in Bristol where they want to ban private diesels. As far as I can see it would only reduce Nox by less than 4% possibly a lot less if I had data for emissions from heavy diesels. It seems the various analyses for cities is showing that road traffic is not the great threat it has been made out to be but I suspect the data will be ignored as it might tarnish the green message that all governments want to pursue being advised by vested interests.
“The leaders of the Extinction Rebellion climate group have threatened the Labour Party with cyberattacks for supporting an aviation industry bailout.”

Should be interesting
Dear Climatistas.
There is a very serious pandemic upon us at this time. If you have any human decency at all give your climate activism a rest and let us all focus on the issue at hand.
The Gurdian banned me some time ago for telling the truth about CO 2. The paper is fast running out of its reserves and it serves it right.
Much as it pains me to say so – and probably with not much help for him – David King’s alternative SAGE group is talking sense as opposed to the Buffoon’s drivel. Recognising that the virus must be dealt with at a local level right down to wards, parishes etc and that tracking, tracing and isolating is required.
This follows Jeremy Hunt admitting in the house on Monday that Europe and America have focused on plans for influenza and have nothing in place for a SARS or coronavirus pandemic. Asian countries have got plans and are doing a much better containment job. They took the threat seriously 15 years ago whereas successive UK governments have ignored all the warnings.
Let us not forget that Jeremy Hunt was Her Majesty’s Principal Secretary of State for Health and Social Care in 2016, when Exercise Cygnus was carried out – “a simulation exercise carried out by NHS England in October 2016 to estimate the impact of a hypothetical H2N2 influenza pandemic”.
The study found that preparedness for a pandemic was absolutely laughable and Mr Hunt cannot now pretend that he was unaware of the study, its results and the decision that was subsequently taken that the results were so scary that they would have to bury the report (which they did). And as the NHS is absolutely replete with senior staff who couldn’t keep anything potentially damaging to the Tories secret for two minutes, it is extremely likely that the opposition parties were also aware of the conclusions and the secrecy. But the opposition parties were much more interested in making up bogus stories to block Brexit and pretend there were plans to sell the NHS to Trump
So when a real pandemic comes along, how much PPE was available?
So far as I am concerned, Jeremy Hunt should now be given the first name “Isaac”. And more importantly, he should be impeached for gross incompetence and negligence and prosecuted for manslaughter.
For the avoidance of doubt, Isaac Hunt is far from the only politician who should be kicked out of public life over this fiasco.
To repeat the famous quote from Voltaire (‘Candide’. Referring to the unfortunate Admiral Byng):-
“Dans ce pays-ci il est bon de tuer de temps en temps un amiral pour encourager les autres.”
I don’t think the UK has any spare admirals at present. But of suitable politicians and computer modelling “scientists” we have a surfeit……
I’m not sure that Sir David King is bringing any wisdom to the debate. He has been wrong on key scientific issues before and will no doubt be wrong again.
Don’t forget that it was King who advised that Roy Anderson be put in charge of govt strategy for foot and mouth, hence the disastrous culling policy.
Neil Ferguson was of course Anderson’s protege.
Interestingly in 2009 Ferguson was wanting to shut all schools because of swine flu, which Ferguson claimed could lead to 4m deaths worldwide. The actual total was 18500.

The air quality argument could hardly be easier to solve, yet surprise surprise government have chosen entirely the wrong pathway.
Their all electric EV route will cause huge damage within the auto sector as conventional orders dry up and cost the taxpayer billions to pay for totally unnecessary public plug-in charging stations.
They should be going for self-driving hybrids. They’d deliver emissions-free driving in urban areas allied to range, security and reliability solutions for distance driving.
If they made manufactures offer a plug-in charging kit for home installation included in the price of each new car then the actual people who would use and need chargers would have them, with zero cost to the public.
This would also avoid billions in public money being squandered on systems that would be obsolete within a few years. (Due to endless technological advances)
Confirmation of what we have supposed for a long time. Greens are not interested in making life better. They want to rid the planet of humans and for that they tacitly (or not so tacitly) acquiesce to disease and potential death of thousands to maintain their facade. We should rather make sure that real emissions are cut, CO2 is rebranded as the gas of life, and that real environmental topics such as waste and air pollution in some developing countries is tackled. But that amounts to work and they don’t want that.
