Woke Owners Want to Cancel Crusader from Express

March 19, 2021

By Paul Homewood

I revealed a few weeks ago how the Daily Express’ new Green Campaign had been instigated by its left wing, remainer, labour supporting editor, appointed after the takeover by the left wing, remain, Labour supporting Daily Mirror Group.

Unsurprisingly his appointment is the thin end of the edge:

From Guido:

Reach, the renamed Trinity Mirror group, which owns the Express is holding a “brand review” of the Express conducted by a consulting company. Express employees have been interviewed in pairs about their views on the paper and website. On a few occasions the Joint interviewer announced himself as a North London Guardian reader.

In a lot of the consultations employees were asked about the famous Crusader symbol and whether it should go. It’s not been a secret that the woke management of Reach hate the symbol almost as much as they hate the politics of the Express. It is an old management trick to get consultants in to blame for recommending a change you wanted to make anyway. It appears the Crusader could be axed after 92 years from the masthead…

This is part of a culture war in Reach and a war of attrition on the Express internally since it was bought up after the then Trinity Mirror assured then culture secretary Matt Hancock that they would not interfere in the politics of the Express.

Full story here.

All of this is of course part of the long term progressive take over of our media. Even the Daily Mail and Telegraph have gone the same way.

Your word “progressive” applies only to the ingravescent change of political character imposed by these leftwing package deal salesmen.
Recalling the historical outcome of leftwing regimes, they have all failed financially and/or in terms of humane democracy.
The lefties’ motivation in the Western world now is, to me, inexplicable but the results will certainly damage ordinary people.
They should note, maybe, the “progressives” policies, as a warning of disasters to come.

Saxon supposedly got barred from playing Dubai because of their song Crusader. You can’t even factually reference history any more!

O/T but Gogglebox went seamlessly into a lengthy government census propaganda advert, with them continuing to say scripted lines as to why it was so brilliant and we all must complete it, but as though they were still commenting on TV program clips, only briefly did the word advertisement appear up top. Truly a new low in government dirty tricks.

    Talking of media bias:

The term “progressives” is way off base. Their true name should be SLAUGHTERHOUSERS, because they want to turn the West and its civilization into a slaughterhouse.

I propose that The Express now has a logo of the results of Pol Pot’s ‘revolution’.
    e.g. From the Express …

But we only need two news papers, Pravda and Izvestya.

Their online version-surely an object lesson in poor design, confusion and clutter-does not seem to be at all green. Do they have different editors?

It looks like the website has a different editor, somebody called Geoff Marsh:

I quite agree. I am in New Zealand but gave up reading the Express web page. However the same can be said about Fox News. I’ts impossible to read the news there unless javascript is disabled. Newspapers depend on the advertising dollar or pound. never forget that. Not logging on will deprive them of some of their revenue…and then they may increase the adverts in retaliation..but it will relieve the headaches of the former readers 🙂

Cut down on news consumption and tell the world why you do so!

Imbecilic new owners who think people get their opinions from the papers rather than picking the paper that fits their opinions. All part of the “people are only Leave/Tory because the media is Leave/Tory” stupidity.

    The Express will vanish.

      “The Express will vanish.”

The PRINT circulation of all newspapers will certainly vanish – and quite soon. The DE sold just 238,000 a day in January 2021. And many of these sales will only have been because
of some special part of the paper, such as the TV Guide.

I doubt if brand loyalty is strong when it comes to using the internet to get news. I used to quite like the on-line Express, just to get the bare headlines. But as soon as it got shrill and silly I simply erased it from my ‘Favourites’ without a second thought.

The Guardian is a different story, despite its tiny circulation of 108,000. Unfortunately, many middle-brow people ABROAD regard it highly. I have a friend in Toronto who reads only it, and listens religiously to the BBC. Also, his daughter is a lobbyist in Brussels for some Swedish organization!. Needless to say, he was flabbergasted when the Conservatives won the last election and when Brexit (or BRINO if you will) actually happened.

O/T, The Met Office has another paper out, this time claiming climate change will cause heat exhaustion in cattle and impact the potato market, 30-50 years from now.

Correctly forecast next months weather, not so much. Predict cattle welfare and crop yields half a century ahead? Hey, we’re the man!

They use RCP 8.5 which should automatically disqualify it as the pure propaganda it is.

On topic for the Express article, Reach are committing commercial suicide.

Express readers don’t want and won’t buy into green, leftist junk. They want sensible, patriotic articles and content, and policy positions that reflect their views.

I wouldn’t buy the Guardian only to shift it’s stance away from its readers core values, and then expect those readers to follow me to the Right. They’d be off like a shot to the Indy, I and Times, plus any number of left-leaning blogs.

Reach will have to find out the hard way.

If they desert the Express, where would the readers go?
The Telegraph with it’s nonsensical daily “Climate change concerns” rubbish is hurtling leftward just as quickly!

I only buy the Times for its crossword. Newspapers are in terminal decline, desperate. TV news is the stage for ham actors and their teleprompters, the hidden hand of some scheming politico editor or other. As commercial enterprises, newspapers are more sensitised to whim than most (battered by circulation figures) and in their constant following of fashion, to accrue circulation, become less and less significant. Appealing to those seeking only what they want to hear and certainly cagey about controversy. Newspapers: a day late and increasingly inaccessible through price, pay walls. Let them go. The freedom of the press to kill itself off.
