Potty, hard left MP, Claudia Webbe, has jumped on Harrabin’s non-story:

Notice how the definition of “rich” has gone from 1% to 10%. That’s 630 million people, or two thirds of the population of:
USA
Canada
Kuwait
Oman
Qatar
Saudi
UAE
UK
Australia
Japan
EU
And currently all of these countries combined only account for 35% of global emissions, not 52% as she wrongly claims.
Meanwhile, China’s emissions are 6.82 tonnes per capita, higher than the UK’s 5.77 tonnes.
Still, it must be reassuring for her electorate in Leicester that she want two thirds of them to be abolished!

Exactly. A bit like Attenborough who features in an adjacent article. He studied at Cambridge Uni but never graduated – left or was expelled after two years.

Claudia Webbe is probably targeting herself, if not already, certainly in a few years after she’s benefited from her position and the great green boondoggle I expect.

And I wouldn’t be at all surprised if John Kerry secretly ‘gifts’ Taiwan to China in exchange for some vague disingenuous climate fighting words.
China is building 50 new coal-fired power stations and on course to be the world’s biggest economy. Where are the protests from the Left? Why are they not telling the Chinese to use archaic methods of energy production, like they expect the West to adopt?
The answer is because they know that CO2 cannot cause climate change and its true purpose is to decimate Western economies and promote the view that a communist country is leading the world economies.
The proof is there for all to see if you check the NOAA website that measures atmospheric CO2 at Mauna Loa, Hawaii. The rate at which atmospheric concentration of CO2 was increasing from March 2020 until worldwide Covid lockdown was relaxed was unchanged.
This was when there were very few flights, roads were deserted and it was the Northern Hemisphere Spring/Summer so heating and lighting of homes was much less. 88% of the world’s population live in the Northern Hemisphere!
In other words humanity is not making a jot of difference to CO2 in the atmosphere.
We are collectively endorsing an exercise in futility!

Putin is posturing, both for domestic consumption & to show the Ukrainian separatists that should they try to push the ethnic Russians out, then there will be consequences.
It’s already happening, as before, those unofficial volunteers. It allows both the West and Russians plausible deniability.
Did you notice that Ms Lucas has a chief of staff? Why?

The Chief of Staff job will be a post invented by Caroline Lucas to use up “Short money”, which is a public funding arrangement for UK opposition parties named after a politician called Ted Short.

After the 2015 General Election the Green party got over £200K for their one MP. UKIP also only got one MP in that election, Douglas Carswell, but they got so many votes across the country that they were entitled to £650K short money. Some people in UKIP wanted Carswell to employ 15 staff to use up the entitlement, but eventually UKIP rejected the money. The Green party of course take up their entitlement.
Somehow I feel the world’s problems would be more successfully addressed by excluding the proven failure of Marxism.

Her comments are a non-sequitur? The “Earth is overpopulated; there are too many rich people.” So, how will that help her to reach NET-zero and solve the climate emergency? If you have a Jack-in-the-box will she pop out?
What ever your political views, as many ‘rich’ people tend to either be entrapreneurial or run large companies that we all use I would suggest that they are rather important in the world. For sure capitalism has its problems but communism hasn’t exacty shown its self in a good light has it?
Her opening comment is that the world is overpopulated and goes on to say that the rich – all 630 million of them should be abolished. Does she mean abolished or euthanised? A change in status from rich to poor doesn’t affect overpopulation, euthanasia (or should that be genocide?) would. Can’t she be prosecuted for hate crime?
If history teaches us anything it is that poor people, by necessity, tend to have much larger families. Over the past century or so prosperity has almost always been the antidote to over population, unless you are of a socialist persuasion, in which case the ‘solution’ tends to be a tad more brutal e.g. Stalin, Hitler, Mao, Pol Pot etc etc.
What she means is, the rich must hand over all their money to the poor. So we are all poor together. Except her of course. A bit like the Marxist leader of BLM buying a $1.4m property.

Kill the rich. Take their stuff. You’ll be broke again in a month. But then there will be no jobs for anyone. You will die.
Although it’s not their intent, the rich keep the poor alive. Without them, world population drops to under a billion.
E.g., let’s eliminate the emissions of the lorry owner who brings food to your grocery store.
It’s just that the Left can’t do sums.
What is much more of concern is the massive level of brainwashing in the meja at the moment. It is almost impossible to go to any of the media outlets and not be harangued by the horrorbins and their acolytes about how serious the “climate crisis” is. Even Al Jazeera is committed to the cause.
Never once in the programmes that I have watched / listened to, has there been a dissenter allowed to give an opinion: It now seems that only old films avoid the double-duckspeak. Even Goebbels would be surprised at the lie-control being exercised over informed opinion in the UK,.
I mustn’t be sexist these days but is there a case for believing that lefty women are stupider than others? Or just noisier?
