David King Crawls Back Out Of Woodwork

June 20, 2021

By Paul Homewood

h/t Ian PRSY

Look who has just crawled out of the woodwork!

Several of the world’s leading scientists plan to launch an independent expert group this week to advise, warn and criticise global policymakers about the climate and nature crises.

The new body has been inspired by Independent Sage – the cluster of British scientists who have held UK ministers and civil servants to account for their lack of transparency and mishandling of the Covid pandemic.

The Climate Crisis Advisory Group, comprising 14 experts from 10 nations and every continent, aims to have more of an international reach and provide the global public with regular analysis about efforts to tackle the global heating and biodiversity crises.

Headed by the former UK chief scientific adviser Sir David King, the new group will issue monthly updates about the state of the global environment at meetings that will be open to the media and the public. These online gatherings will be chaired by the BBC presenter Ade Adepitan.

“We are hoping that by putting expertise directly into the public domain we are reaching into policymakers’ decision processes, and into the financial sector and how they invest in our future,” King told the Observer. “We are not just going to say ‘this is the state of the global climate’, but also what should the global response be from governments and companies … What we do in the next five years will determine the future of humanity for the next millennium.”

The experts – who include Fatih Birol, the head of the International Energy Agency and Johan Rockström, the director of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research – also plan to issue statements and respond to journalists’ inquiries on breaking news, such as declarations by the G7, reports by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, new targets set by national governments, actions taken by major corporations, and geoengineering proposals, such as refreezing the Arctic.

Contrary to the Guardian’s false assertion, the Independent Sage was nothing more than a joke, which nobody other than the Guardian took seriously (though some news outlets confused their utterings for the real thing, which was doubtless the real objective of King.) As Guido revealed at the time, Independent Sage was made up entirely of actual communists, Labour Party donors, activists, Corbynistas, “anti-Zionists”, Brexit conspiracy theorists and even a former Greek socialist MP. Susan Michie , for example was a member of the British Communist party for 40 yrs, a Corbyn donor, wife of Corbyn SpAd Andrew Murray, and mother of Labour’s Head of Complaints Laura Murray). Their sole intention was to publish anti-government propaganda.

King himself has been actively involved in campaigning against the government and Brexit.

He was also , of course, the clown who led us to believe that we would all have to live in Antarctica by the end of the century because of global warming.

At the same Environmental Select Committee in 2004, he also made some other equally ridiculous claims:

  • Ice at the South Pole is now 40% as thick as it used to be.
  • The Gulf Stream could turn off, leading Europe into a mini ice age
  • Hydrogen powered cars would see massive penetration in the market within 10 and 15 years

And in front of another Select Committee in 2014, he made the incredible claim that Hurricane Sandy was the first hurricane to hit so far north in America, a schoolboy error which a 2-minute google would have told him was absurd. And it was King, you may recall, who advised Tony Blair to promote diesel cars.

Christopher Booker revealed in his book. “The Real Global Warming Disaster”, how King attended a 2004 climate seminar in Moscow, and promptly attempted to get half of the speakers banned as they did not share his alarmist stance. When that failed, he tried to disrupt their speeches. Finally when challenged by one scientist, the malaria expert Paul Reiter, on one particular topic, King , seemingly unable to answer, simply left the room with his delegation.

This is the man who now thinks he has the right to advise us on climate change!

One last point- why the hell is a BBC presenter getting involved in this overtly political programme?

The EU must have picked up his 2004 prediction. By 2005, they’d projected there to be 1 – 5 million hydrogen vehicles on EU roads by the end of last year.

Your last sentence is very pertinent. I’m not familiar with these two BBC presenters, but it seems BBC can get upset by extracurricular activities. Headlines from the Internet

” Nick Knowles to return to DIY SOS role despite Shreddies advert”

“STACEY Dooley was secretly sacked by the BBC as the host of Glow Up for fronting an ad campaign for a hair product.”

I just wish the BBC got more upset about extra-curricular activities. You cannot be the UK ‘Broadcaster of Record’, eminently neutral, admired throughout the world, not dependent on advertising for your revenue — all the things that supposedly characterise the BBC and certainly did for decades — while your staff are using their high (BBC) profile to advertise mundane products on rival channels. Or express political views even if you are a mere football commentator.

The current spat between Packham and Botham ( simply should not be happening and for certain Packham should not be fronting for Extinction Rebellion. His other extra-mural activities should also, assuming the report is correct, disqualify him from fronting BBC programmes.

The sooner the BBC is made properly accountable to OfCom and the sooner that toothless organisation is given a “full set” of custom-built dentures the better! Dacre would do very nicely I think.

Irresponsible nursery trade/gov. bio-security incompetence strikes again, but of course; – gratuitous climate change blame. We’ve had plenty of seriously harsh frosts since it appeared and none have stopped it coming back every spring.

It struck my garden about 5-8 years ago, you can actually kill the pest but not with chemicals you can legally use these days (but you could before the EU got stuck in). Pointless though as it just gets reinfected from the environment now – and it probably would harm bees etc. permanently keeping it under control.

So that’s another plant that can no longer be grown, the list is getting longer and longer.

King would obviously be a first rate mind, but his specialist area was Chemistry studied using Physics techniques and not a clue about electric engineering, and as would be common for a person of ‘senior years’ not going to say ‘I dont know’
Australia’s Chief Scientist is a academic electrical engineer, but in the tiny voltages in the human body. Hes far more circumspect about the shift away from coal in that country at least admits its a steep learning curve for him on ‘Power systems’

The ability to understand the great advances made by others well enough to get high marks is an exam is not the sign of either a great mind or somebody able to synthesise solutions from complex problems. And if you think far too highly of yourself because of your exam results you are unlikely to actually learn to think and listen.

Anyone with half a brain celll that isnt a communist or hasn’t gone out with the fairies already will know that David King is a ‘highly revered’ (in his own echo chamber) half wit with a long line of failed climate prophecies to his name. Christopher Booker’s dissection of King’s scientific ignorance when confronted by actual scientists on the subject is a masterclass. And, in the years since King has advised us that Antartica will be the only habitable continent as a last refuge for mankind from global warming, even NASA have had to accept that it’s getting colder. Well done David.

      Come, come Mack;
You are letting a few false statements colour your perception of Sir David King**. It may be that “the world is warmer than it has been for 5,000 years” was an oversight, as were
“the world is warmer than it has been for 50,000 years”
“the world is warmer than it has been for 500,000 years” and
“the world is warmer than it has been for 5,000,000 years”.
but the fact that he couldn’t read the Vostok ice-core graphs is merely that he was too busy ‘alerting’ people to the problem and thus unable to actually check his statements has been forgiven by the BBC.

**Why is it that those scientists SO CERTAIN about Global Warming/Global Catastrophe etc. etc. are called Sir David?

But facts never matter to these self-appointed self-righteous fools. They are so brilliant in their own minds it can only be the data that is wrong

      • June 21, 2021 11:12 am

It’s a well known problem amongst teams who consider themselves brilliant – the ‘Apollo Syndrome’. They are so busy talking to each other about how brilliant they are, admiring their intellects and polishing their degrees and doctorates that they cannot conceive they are talking garbage.

Illusion of knowledge is more dangerous than ignorance:

It’s Okay to say “I don’t know” and admit that you don’t know it.

However, it’s shameful to pretend that you know everything.

Unfortunately in King’s case – he is shameless, and to rub salt in and he leverages his exalted status to swerve having to eat his words …

    “Monthly updates” on climate?

Right from the start, clear and obvious stupidity.

    • June 21, 2021 11:51 am

The desperation is clear. They have already played their trump card calling climate change racist. They cannot take the rhetoric any higher. Unfortunately that trump card is already used and completely worn out by hard left politicians in the US.

This is no different to the BS BBC climate programs. This is organized at some very high level. Conversations MUST have taken place because too many ducks are linking up in the alarmists war against common sense. They are changing collective tactics. because they are aware they are not convincing enough people with their current scattergun approach. The view is to completely brow beat the population with invented breaking climate news to the point the are saturated and just comply.

“You are not voluntarily being influenced by the climate alarmism we have been assaulting you with for the last 30 years. You have unreasonably not succumbed to blackmail by our manipulation of children so now we will try indoctrination with an immersive experience”.

The BBC got in first with their nonsense climate updates… is the next one. How long before all the other infected NGO’s staffed by humanities graduates follow suit and give us monthly/weekly/hourly/24 hour coverage of their invented crisis? Oxfam? Christian Aid? Dr Barnardo’s? The National Trust? English Heritage….the list of infected and infested public bodies grows daily, but not being satisfied with the long march through the institutions, the deep pockets hiding in the shadows invent new ones with grandiose faux independent sounding names.

If CO2 is such a good insulator, why has no one yet found a way of using it to insulate our homes?

    • June 21, 2021 12:08 pm

Well that is because we use the liquid form of the greatest total absorber of infra red in the atmosphere already, not to insulate but to transmit heat around our houses….water circulating central heating systems.

      • June 22, 2021 2:17 pm

Maybe IF CO2 IS such a good absorber or IR we should be being encouraged to buy systems which circulate heat via excited demon CO2 molecules.
