Prince Charles Colluding With Insurance Industry
By Paul Homewood
h/t Dennis Ambler
Prince Charles is sticking his nose into business that should not concern him again:
“Chief executives of 17 major insurers join new taskforce designed to explore how the insurance sector can accelerate progress towards a zero emission economy
Prince Charles has launched a new task force under the banner of his Sustainable Markets Initiative to bring together the CEOs of some of the largest insurance companies to explore how to accelerate the transition to a nature positive and net zero emission economy.
The heir to the throne officially launched the Sustainable Markets Initiative (SMI) Insurance Task Force yesterday on a visit to UK insurance giant Lloyd’s, which will chair the group.
Specific new offerings could include adapting and expanding coverage for offshore wind projects in a bid to accelerate the clean energy sector’s growth, and introducing ‘build back better’ claims clauses in home insurance policies to encourage customers to ensure damaged homes are rebuilt in line with environmental best practices, the group said.”
This is actually worse than his usual pontificating, because he is actively colluding with the insurance industry to alter their business practices.
Build back better clauses, for instance, will simply put up insurance policy costs, to the detriment of householders.
As for the bit about offshore wind, I am a bit confused! Surely offshore wind costs are so low, that companies would be queuing up to build them, without any encouragement from Charlie?

This is off topic but interesting none the less.
Embracing the Dark Side: The Science Behind Solar Panels Drawing Energy at Night
https://solarmagazine.com/embracing-the-dark-side-science-behind-solar-panels-drawing-energy-at-night/
Its completely barmy
‘In turn, that via the use of a concept where the night sky is used as a heat sink and the earth as a heat source, a photovoltaic cell that generates energy at night could be effective. Put simply, while conventional solar panels are cold and the sun is hot, NSPs would essentially invert that concept by emitting radiation via infrared that would then create electron-hole pairs in space thanks to the latter’s cool temperatures.’
Electron hole pairs is space ?
I don’t wish Ill for the present monarch bit when Charles becomes king, surely there will be minders To prevent his more ludicrous ideas finding voice. One eoukd hope so, we have had crazies on the throne before.
“Build back better clauses, for instance, will simply put up insurance policy costs”
And insurance industry scaremongering propaganda highlighting the increased *cost* of events blamed on adverse weather events in order to secure more business, without pointing out the *value* of property-insured has risen greatly.

It allows them to increase premiums on an industry basis without actual increased risk. This is creating cartels that can use climate change as an excuse for collusion.
Hopefully his ambition to become a tampon, will eventually come true.
He’s long been a silly cult.
I would imagine that the major benefit to Prince Charles for encouraging new Offshore Wind installations, is that the Crown Estates, from which he benefits, and who own the foreshore up to 12 miles out, are entitled to charge large amounts for “licences”. The Crown Estates had a “Wind Team” the last time I checked, where they had an ex-employee of Vestas, the Turbine Makers in the Netherlands, and he was seen at a seminar encouraging potential investors in Wind, by telling them that the extraordinary “profit opportunity” must be grabbed. That is another description of the gigantic subsidies provided by us the Tax Payer.

Incidentally another MP stated on TV a couple of days ago that Wind was now “subsidy free”??
To see just how variable our 12.9GW of metered offshore wind farms are, here’s their rolling 30-day performance at bottom of page:
https://www.thecrownestate.co.uk/en-gb/what-we-do/asset-map/
looks like they put a stop to that particular view of their doings….
Thats a lot of wind turbines in St James, Mayfair and Regent St…oh thats right its that other kind of money spinner, central London property
I think that you will find that income from the Crown Estate goes straight to H M Treasury. Then some of it is dispersed by HMT among members of the family in accordance with an agreement which takes account of duties and status. Those grants are a mtter of public record.
75% to Treasury, 25% to the Monarch, was 15%, is the way its done, so they do benefit directly from increased revenue. The old method of the civil list went about a decade ago. Then there is the Duchy of Lancaster/Privy Purse for the Sovereign as well as Charles own Duchy Of Cornwall. They have private wealth on top of that for their private residences and expenditure
No, not the taxpayer. The subsidies are paid directly by the user. Those who pay proportionately most are the old, the poor and the sick, those who can least afford to give their money to the climate exploiters.
JF
If users pay directly its just higher prices. That we are forced to pay higher prices is the problem. What we are facing is an economy-wide suppression of competition and choice. The only choices we will be allowed are those the state thinks we should have. This is literally a fascist economy, corporatism taken to its logical conclusion. Businesses must serve the needs of the state, not the needs of the consumer.
Proverbs 16:27-29
Idle hands are the devil’s workshop;
Idle princes are the Devil’s acolytes.
Two issues arise here
Firstly if Prince Charles (and his sons), who as far as I know have no scientific qualifications, continue to interfere in a controversial topic they will drive many long-established monarchists towards supporting republicanism
Secondly the whole insurance industry is already so behind the climate bandwagon and displaying such similar statements on their websites there has to be suspicion of government pressure. It is almost inconceivable every single insurance manager believes the same nonsense. None of them are fulfilling their duty to provide the best return for pension-holders. Those who ‘disinvested’ in fossil fuels just before oil and coal prices surged have served their clients scandalously badly.
My view for many years was that the UK monarchy needed to be dismantled after the demise of Brenda, this was on the basis that Charles was and is demonstrably unstable, a danger to many and a meddler.
In last few months, my view has changed due – in part – to the increased risks created by Charles: the UK monarchy should be dismantled immediately.
Prince Charles will be educated by the insurance industry: underwriters generally do not write business on the basis that a replaced asset will be different and better than the value of the lost asset. Since the cost of enhancing the replacement will not be known and may change markedly as renewals take place the premiums will reflect the extra and unquantifiable liability — or not, according to the underwriters ability to price the risk..
But they won’t care if they all do it together and all can price these non-existant risks as they decide in collusion. What these unelected people (Charles, Carney, the CCC) are doing is forcing companies to agree business practices, the costs of which are then passed on to consumers. Businesses don’t care PROVIDED they get to collude and competition is prevented. If all insurance companies charge much higher premiums for these “extreme weather” risks they don’t care, they make more money. What they worry about us if one or more insurer doesn’t and competes. So Carney says they MUST consider the risk.
This is the destruction of competition via state coercion.
“Become a green business member”! WHO is funding the rash of infernal Gween .coms which are all appearing with flashy websites and full company structures almost over night? They are all about forcing an agenda. Don’t need to prove any problem exists….move on past that unimportant trivial issue…there is money to be made….yes of course it call comes out of tax payers pockets and nothing you are promoting can stand on its own two feet but who cares when you are getting rich from this scam?
On a more positive note. Here is a video to bring a tear to a glass eye! I cannot find out why this happened but IT IS A GOOD START!

In 1976, as a youngish Chartered Civil Engineer, I decided to join the Coal industry. Not for a great increase in salary – (at the time an increase of a pound a month!) but for some useful experience and (daft as it now seems) to play a part in building up Britain’s indigenous, affordable and secure supply of energy. Ho Ho.
Indeed, it was not long after our OPEC chums had quadrupled the price of oil, following their well deserved thrashing by Israel.
The first half of my subsequent career comprised, in addition to keeping mine structures, shafts and (10 years after Aberfan) spoil heaps safe, also in participation in building new mines and in massively upgrading many old ones.
In 1984-5 of course, this was interrupted by the Miner’s strike.
Subsequently Major Project work continued, especially with the Selby Project. But also in safely closing many mines. Not only many that should have closed years earlier (and hopefully in a sensibly structured program) but also closing a number of very expensively, just renovated mines, in one case (Redbrook) at the very top of national productivity tables. The multi- million pound Final Account for the construction contract hadn’t even been agreed when closure was announced.
Such, the wonderful workings of Politicians.
1995 brought privatisation, with it’s own challenges and leading to the situation where, perforce, I was de facto the only surviving Chartered Civil Engineer in the British deep mine coal industry. It also brought an ever increasing threat from GangGreen due to alleged Glowbull Warming leading eventually to Genius Ed Miliband and his wonderful Climate Change Act.
So, it is fair to claim that, by my retirement in 2012, I was the UK bloke with most practical experience in safely closing coal mines. I promptly set up my own little consultancy firm offering practical advice on how to safely treat mine shafts and so forth.
When I started this venture, obtaining appropriate insurance for my work (particularly Public Liability Insurance) was not particularly difficult and not outrageously expensive. But cover then became very difficult to find at any price, because a virtue-signalling insurance industry had inserted clauses excluding coverage for any work concerning coal mining.
Even large Companies as clients, using the most reputable insurance brokers, were only able to suggest that the various companies put me on their books as an employee to obtain cover.
Naturally, major Consultants didn’t have my problem as the Insurers weren’t so bothered to demonstrate their fear of Climate change when an extremely large premium was in prospect.
But they did have the problemette that they had very few, if any staff on their books, who knew anything whatever about coal mine shafts and spoil heaps.
I could relate interesting tales of the consequences of the Insurance Industry’s brave and intelligent stand. Bless their little cotton socks.
Simply fascism. The forced co-option of businesses to support the political aims of a single undemocratic group.
Note it is “industry-wide” so that consumers will have no choice.
This is a very dangerous thing to be doing.
There are spoil heaps in existence – yes ?
Who now maintains them ?
The local councils ?
