Boy, they are getting desperate now!!

In fact, until this week Greenland had barely had a summer at all, with heavy snow meaning that the ice mass was way above average for the time of year. Even with the latest melt, the cumulative ice mass balance is still about a quarter above the 1981-2010 mean:

According to DMI, the grey band indicates:

In other words, anything within that grey band has happened at one time or another since 1981. There is therefore nothing unusual at all about the June 28th melt, and it certainly does not mean Florida will get flooded. It is something that happens every summer.

Melting of ice in Greenland, as well as the opposite, snowfall, is determined by the weather. Whereas the last two months have been dominated by low pressure, this week has seen high pressure take over. High pressure means plenty of sunshine, which in turn is what melts the ice. It has nothing to do with carbon dioxide.

Weather forecasts suggest high pressure will remain for a few more days, before giving way to low pressure and more snow:

With the end of Greenland’s melt season just a couple of weeks away, it looks as if we will end up with a pretty much average ice mass balance.

As for claims that the Arctic is warming three times faster than the global average, the Arctic has actually been colder than normal this summer. It is usually only during winter when Arctic temperatures are above normal, when of course it makes no difference whatsoever.

And so far this summer Arctic sea ice extent is doing what it always done at this time of year:

Yet every year, we get the same fraudsters out, trying to persuade the gullible public that the Arctic is melting down rapidly.

It would cover Delaware with 52 inches, that sounds better, maybe even better Manhattan with 475 feet, that’s worse ….if you are going for extremes go for big ones. have they not learnt from Michael Mann.

Interestingly though the Antarctic sea ice coverage is currently running above average

Well, with any luck it might cover Michael Mann.

I remember the 2019 Greenland ice melt .
A warm weather front came up from Africa , and the media went mad about 12 billion tons of ice melting ,.
The stories were almost like the end of the world . Unless you did a count up and found that , – if extreme events like this happened every year -, and it did not get very cold in the Winters again , – then in twelve & a half THOUSAND years the Greenland ice sheet would be half gone .

There was a week earlier this year I believe when the ice sheet gained more than what was lost in that CLIMATE DISASTER ????.

So , as usual , the whole thing is just more media / Green rubbish stories .

      “…in a tweet…”

The grotesque joke that is modern Science progresses with such dignity!

Soon we will be hearing – in a tweet – that Germany is winning the war.

Actually, I did point out, on this blog a few days ago, that Greenland has a larger area of melt than usual, BUT, BUT, BUT the water was being absorbed by the underlying snow, and largely refreezing.

None of it (pandering by hucksters to confirmation biases) makes any difference.
Rationality has lost. The sheeple are already convinced that run-away global warming, probably caused by the patriarchal society of the white race, is happening – with immediate and disastrous consequences on every square inch of the planet.

As the terminally stupid perish in the dark and cold in a few years’ time they will be saying “Phew! It ain’t ‘alf hot mum!”

I would not be at all surprised to learn that few people know that the Polar regions receive fierce insolation in the summer. It used to be reported that American tourists could be seen crossing the border into Canada in summer with snow skis. Perhaps apocryphal.

What they all fail to realise is that the snow that falls on Greenland and is locked up as Ice is stopped from being Rain ie Water falling elsewhere.
When it melts it replaces the rain that did not fall elsewhere before.
    It is one continuous cycle.

‘The autonomous Danish territory is suffering significant melting as Arctic temperatures soar.’

    Suffering? WTF?

How does a pile of rocks with ice on it “suffer?”

We get these reports of massive ice loss, yet sea level rise plods on at the same rate. So:

    A. They’re lying, or

    B. It just doesn’t matter

    C. They are lying, but it doesn’t matter, anyway.

‘From Sky’ – which knows nothing worth knowing about the climate, but thinks it does.
