I guess you were just trying to log on….
    Nice bike, btw!

I’ve just been doing the same thing in Devon and I haven’t seen any climate breakdown ether.

Climate Breakdown is now permanently employed at the BBC and only appears in the countryside on very rare occasions.

I imagine the bicycle is socially distancing?

You won’t get that firewood on a bike!

Please take care, a freak whirlwind or weather bomb may strike at any time – evidence of the ‘climate emergency’ of course!
Enjoy the lovely normal weather – perfect for a bike ride.

Looks desperate Paul, I don’t know how you’ll get through it. Might I suggest a tin foil hat and full hazmat suit!

I pass such anti-“traveller” logs around here on my bike too.

[Seems that land owner doesn’t want anyone driving into that field.]

Although not as fancy, I have a large landscape log.
This summer (and now) a colony of wild bees decided it would make a good home.
There is a small hole mid-length, and I think a second opening on one end.
Whether by design or happenstance, the openings have a substance (wood particles?)
plastered about. It is a light brown against the darker color of the log, as in Paul’s photo.

And the press is blaming the high prices on that 1Gw and absolutely no mention of the totally pathetic output by all those expansive wind turrbines.

Good job all those windmills are still turning to provide electricity for your bike (to help you get up the hills?)

Hope you are R4-free where you are, otherwise you may have heard, as I did, some hysterical woman on the XR/Insulation traffic Taliban blockade screaming at the reporter that, ‘We only have three, maybe four years left! Think about our children! What will happen to them in this emergency!?’
BBC. You have a lot to answer for.

We used to pity these End of the World nutters, now we think they are righteous prophets. The young have no idea how lucky they are to ge young in this age.

Lucky you, Paul, to still be able to ride a bike. I haven’t ridden a bike for ~70 years. Always a petrol-head (and refuse to change).

    Enjoy your sojourn.

Obviously a faked photograph. Shame on you, you are a denier.
The reality as portrayed by the BBC is that the countryside is an environmental catastrophe, if you open your eyes you can see that prickly pears are taking over.

    • September 16, 2021 8:56 am

Yes, the countryside in now blanketed by Japanese Knotweed and Himalayan Balsam. There are no insects, mammals or birds anywhere to be seen. Wildfires and floods have destroyed everything else.

As a nation we have just been traumatised by something we cannot control, a pandemic.

I can see that everything we cannot control, that might harm us, is now causing panic. We cannot control the weather.

Throughout human history it has always been this way, plagues come and go but our beliefs are what rules our behaviour.

The sad truth is our greatest foe is our fellow human beings.

Does anyone know what became of a university, Bristol I think, touting for photographs depicting climate catastrophe? As I recall, the plan at the time was to bombard them with idyllic scenes such as this one. It is pretty pleasant up in Yorkshire at present. Yesterday I did a combination swim and bike ride. 12 miles of disused railway line and urban on bike, 1500 metre swim, 12 miles of urban and disused railway line on bike. A very pleasant outing. This weekend I’m off to Belvoir Castle to do a 24 hour race. See how far you can run or walk in 24 hours. The world record is 191 miles.

I see signs of illegal logging activity and part of an ancient hedge has been ripped out. But the asphalt looks like a good place to situate a Stevenson screen.

In other news: according to the Graun the new Trade Secretary, Anne-Marie Trevelyan, is apparently a climate heretic. She has described members of the Climate Cult as ‘fanatics’ – that must call for burning at the stake, surely? Does Her Majesty Princess Nut-Nuts know about this? Has Boris slipped the leash here?
