Ed Militwat–Climate Expert
By Paul Homewood
Everything wrong about the BBC summed up in one paragraph:
On Yesterday’s Newscast, Laura Kuenssberg spoke to former Labour leader Ed Miliband about the ongoing Tory sleaze scandal and COP26. Yes, COP is still ongoing…The BBC’s political editor described Ed Miliband as a Labour politician who also is “an expert in this field”. Guido isn’t sure what gave Kuenssberg that impression. Miliband stereotypically studied PPE at Oxford university and worked as a media researcher for Channel 4’s A Week in Politics before becoming a SpAd, and then a politician. Nothing scientific that qualifies him to be a “climate expert”. To be fair to Miliband, he does have a Master of Science from LSE… in economics.

For some inexplicable reason, there are some otherwise sane people who think the Labour Party has more than two braincells between the lot of them.
Comments are closed.
Join Miliband and Rowlatt to achieve a wonderful win double. Together they have two brain cells.
Stop exaggerating.
Context is everything: was krberg trying to say that milibrain has expertise in sleaze?
you beat me to it..
“Laura Kuenssberg spoke to former Labour leader Ed Miliband about the ongoing Tory sleaze scandal and COP26…..Yes, COP is still ongoing…The BBC’s political editor described Ed Miliband as a Labour politician who also is “an expert in this field”.
Laura clearly meant the former item and not the latter
While driving I happened to tune in to the Jeremy Vine show. The interviewees were Caroline Lucas, followed by Ed Miliband followed by Lord Deben. Further comment seems superfluous!
Wonderful a win treble
I admire your strong constitution Kestrel27. I would risk running of the road in rage if I listened to Vine while driving.
The radio would be in danger of destruction if I listened at all.
Idiot top trumps!
Which neatly illustrates the issue. All three are politicians. All three are giving political opinions. So where’s the balance?
If the topic were Brexit and they had on Farrage, Johnson and Matt Ridley, there would be uproar from the likes of Milliband and Lucas at the lack of balance. Yet not with Green policies because the BBC pretends Green political policies are science.
It’s totally wrong.
It was totally decided on by the BBC after a secret meeting back in 2006. And implemented as policy the following year to prevent “false balance” in allowing heretics, sorry, sceptics, to speak.
Climate loons are experts in climate lunacy. No experience required.
Worse, the BBC actually believes there are “experts” in things that might happen in 70 years and in how our economies will look then.
And imbeciles like Milliband think they do know.
I’ve never seen any forecast about anything be even somewhat correct beyond 2-3 years and many are utterly wrong over even that short a period (looking at you SAGE).
It amazes me how politicians believe climate scientists can predict 80 years in the future, using a socio-economic model to drive a climate model. The consensus of economists didn’t see the 2008 crash until after it happened, but we can apparently predict the future 80 years hence and use it to drive a climate model that can’t get the rate of warming correct 80 years in the past?
Hubris or stupidity? Or both?
80 years ago it was 1941. What would the scientists and economists have been predicting then for 80 years in the future? That we would all be speaking German? Mobile phones? Mass production of penicillin? DNA? That continental drift is true? The transistor?
The future is not the past extrapolated. If it were we would all be millionaires.
Mildly OT
Glasgow is going car free at the bargain price of £47,000 per each and every inhabitant
Glasgow is going car free at the bargain price of £47,000 per each and every inhabitant”>HERE
What a bargain !! – wonder who’s paying?
tomo , Are we approaching peak lunacy or is there way to go yet??
In retrospect, history (is that tautology?) creates generic names for period of upset, chaos, and even advancement. The great Flood. The Great Fire. The Great Plague. The Dark ages. The age of reason. The Industrial Revolution. Surely historians will recognize the present era as The Great Stupidity.
Neil Oliver has a GBNews video about peak madness. He’s agin it.

Howard, good spot.
In the DT today Camilla Tominey coined the glorious phrase: ‘Jiggery wokery’ when writing about the cancel cultures in our universities.
I think we should take that and expand it into the ‘Age of Awokeness’.
It’s become an epidemic!
Children to Be Taught Subjects Through the Lens of Climate Change: UK Education Secretary

I can’t see how Physics and Chemistry will remain as modes of enquiry.
When I was at grammar school in the late 50s we were taught real science NOT dogma.
What a sad state of affairs.
Fortunately I’ve managed to pry my granddaughter away from the lunacy.
Oddly enough it was my very wise physics teacher who taught my about conservation and environmental care, not the rubbish that’s drummed in today.
I can understand climate change being taught, if you believe it’s happening but this insistence that everything must be seen through the lens of climate change, from finance to education is simply religious mania. It is the sort of lunacy theocracies introduce.
So state sponsored science education. Lysenkoism anyone?
This is how authoritarianism slowly morphs into totalitarianism. Parallels with Fascism and Stalinism include:
An external evil (we know what Hitler chose as his target, Stalin had the “bourgeoisie”) – now its the “evil, dirty fossil fuel industry”. Oh: and “climate deniers”.
Politically fixed science (IPCC, no platforming of sceptic views eg peer reviewed journals, BBC, other media).
Saving the populace from an existential threat; brighter future awaits if only you follow the doctrine (the Catholic church had a bit of a track record in this one too). Slowly converts into passing laws and regulations without mandate in order to “protect us”.
In the case of fascism, classic dependency of major industries both on government largesse and also on government regulation killing off competitors eg windfarm and other renewable subsidies, gas boiler replacement ban, ban on new petrol/diesel vehicle sales etc.
Finally, the worst of all in a parliamentary democracy is to have no dissent from Her Majesty’s Opposition, only sycophantic cheerleaders from all parties in the House, voting in unison whilst apparently disregarding the impact on the electorate. No effective scrutiny and no alternative for voters to register disagreement.
If you read Ed Mlibands self eulagising bio then you will know what he stands for, himself.
He says is brilliant and his wife is even cleverer, but like all politicians his only actual skill is jumping on bandwagons, but the one he chose the wheels came off.
His performance when the Somerset levels flooded , blaming it on climate change when it was clearly a failure of oversight, made me think and change who I voted for, as I don’t want someone running the country who cannot think objectively.
Now Boris is clearly incapable of any type of thinking, whether that’s good or bad I am not sure.
Just shows that a 24 carat really gormless twat can easily get a MSc in economics.
Providing, presumably, that his tutor is another nitwit who believes the next experiment in socialism will be a great success.
My Cocker Spaniel knows more about climate science than Ed Miliband.
Assuming he’s been listening when I go off on one of course.
Yes TS,
And my cat certainly is a much more reliable indicator of whether it is going to rain than the MET Office, fancy supercomputer or not.
Although he too tells barefaced lies.
Hasn’t been fed today?
Yeah….
If polling is anything to go by this crack climate expert could find himself sat around a Cabinet table again in a couple of years.
As if this clown hasn’t caused the UK enough damage as it is. What have we done to deserve this?
We have sinned by inventing the industrial revolution and burning fossil fuels. We have offended the Climate Gods and unless we repent and offer appropriate sacrifices, such as our economy and way of life, we will all perish – except the rich and powerful who can buy indulgences. REPENT THE END IS NIGH!
“For some inexplicable reason, there are some otherwise sane people who think the Labour Party has more than two braincells between the lot of them”
I’m not sure the Conservative Party are any better. There’s an old saying:
“It doesn’t matter who you vote for, the Government always gets in”.
Let’s face it: the political establishment is an utter cesspit. There aren’t many “Honourable Members” in Parliament with real-world experience, and none in authority with anything relevant to their positions. You only need to look at the way minsters get shuffled from one post to the next to understand what a mess we’re in. The Civil Service actually runs the country, and they have their own agenda. The TV series “Yes Minister” and follow up “Yes Prime Minister” showed (uncannily accurately) how the wheels of power revolve, and nothing seems to have changed in the 40 odd years since…
Tell it to New Delhi (r)ed millionaire.
i did see Ed Millipede on newsnight some weeks ago talking about Climate Change.. He was so red faced and agitated about it (rather than at being asked some taxing questions – this was newsnight!) that i thought his head was going to explode, WIsh it had.. would have been fun …
Additionally . was watching something on BBC iplayer which ended and as usual iplayer threw up some other programme to follow. “Black Black Oil” about history of north sea oil explanation. Started with some lassie saying how Fort William was going to drown. The iPlayer info said “Documentary exploring our economic historical and emotional entanglement with North Sea Oil which is getting evermore complex as we hurtle towards climate breakdown”
Glad to see BBC still being objectively neutral!!!!
Well, to be fair, they do get a lot of rain in Fort William, though it’s not built on a floodplain, so the the inhabitants are unlikely to drown. Isostastic rebound ought to do it for rising sea levels, in any case the town’s built up the side of Ben Nevis, should sea levels 10m climate refugee can move a few meters inland. Judging from the histrionic bollox spouted by the wee lassie they don’t teach geography at Lochaber anymore.
so flicking through BT sport channels during Rugby half time . Found a programme , “Green Routine – Playing against time ” “Craig Doyle is joined by David Pocock, Martin Offiah, Ledley King and David Goldblatt to explore the issues facing sports posed by the climate emergency” David Goldblatt writes about football. -and for the Guardian . Most photos on internet show him with dreadlocks.. But now ordinary hair. Really and old white man with dreadlocks.. Anyway what a load of pointless woke right on virtue signalling bullshit. “When sports stars speak to us about what we should do we really look up to them” what total bollocks
I’d cancel my subscription if i had one !!!
Ed Militwat gets it but people here don’t!
You people all to often try to use logic, rationality, observations and data as a counter argument.
However Ed Militwat and the IPCC know all you really need is belief!
Belief in consensus science and the semantics & sophistry that holds it together but mostly a belief in the accuracy of their computer models.
So everyone hit them with science from papers that are disinterestedly based on verified data from observations with conclusions based on sound logic and rationality, and not their purely modeled nonsense.
So well done everyone! but remember that many of these ‘climate change’ alarmist types are themselves a fearful bunch, fearful lest you know, understand, and start spreading the real truth about the climate.
more BBC bullshit. Woke up early and caught some of BBC1 news “sustainability” programme at 4am . Feature on Sweden’s “fossil free” steel production and how they make it. BBC suggesting we could all do it (rather than having nasty coking coal mines) . Referring to using wind and solar electricity to create green hydrogen and implication is that that is how sweden do it and if sweden can do it so can we. Not a single mention of the fact that swedens electricity is nearly 50% hydro, 30+% nuclear and only around 10% solar/wind. Sure with all that hydro/nuclear it is easy for them. Cant spoil a good story with facts can we
Alex Epstein tells it like it is https://twitter.com/i/status/1458495785218154506
I understand that TV soaps have had scary storylines added to coincide with COP26, and from comment above that even TV Sports got similar treatment. Not being a telly viewer, I have to assume that few emanations from the broadcast media went untouched kiddie TV must have been something to behold.
The coordination required is considerable. The absurdity of most claims requires that the next catastrophic prognostication is served up pronto to keep the emotional momentum going and to distract from examination of the prior stupid.
Collecting together the hysterical claptrap serves a purpose – Numberwatch warmlist deserves to be brought up to date… It is an effective irritant to alarmists – a sort of smelly sewage settlement pond that loons can be directed to.
“Footnote (September 2015) Why the list stopped growing.
The time it takes to process a new entry increases approximately with the square of the list length, after checking for duplications, spoofs etc. Starting it was based on the naïve assumption that the rate of appearances would decline as opposing evidence accumulated, but the reverse happened. That’s the difference between science and religion. It was taking over my life, which I did not want to end as a garbage collector. There have since been hundreds more claims of an increasingly ludicrous nature.”
Countering the stupid is a Sisyphean task…
“Since its creation, chlorine has been a chemical catastrophe.” Weren’t all the elements created billions of years ago.? And i think our bodies need access to salt and chlorine seems to be useful in making that
Amazed at how stupid “Greenpeace activists” are
I thought Ed Milliwatt was a much more apposite nickname for this rather dim light bulb so let us assume that Paul made a slightly rude typo
You could view Miliband as inhumane and selfish as well. I gleaned the following from the writings of Fraser Myers in the magazine Spiked:
‘Globally, the number of people lacking access to electricity actually rose last year to 800million – around 200million of whom live in India. Meanwhile, around 2.5 billion people around the world are still cooking with wood, charcoal or dung because they are not connected to a gas grid or cannot cook with electric appliances.
The average person in a developing country consumes 50 times less electricity than his or her counterpart in the developed world. Dragging the world’s poorest countries out of poverty and allowing them to enjoy Western standards of living will necessarily mean a drastic increase in energy production. This is a prospect to embrace, not to fear. The increased living standards that will result will also mean greater health, greater life expectancy and even greater protection from environmental hazards (thanks to fossil-fuelled economic development, the death toll from climate-related disasters has shrunk by around 99 per cent over the past 100 years).
In my words, there should be a transition from coal sometime, for, other than opencast, it has and does reduce thousands of miners to the life of being troglodytes who carry-out their craft in mean, extremely dangerous conditions. There is no glamour in coal mining other than the thought that you are powering and economy, a reliance. Labour once agonised over Mrs Thatcher’s campaign against the miners’ union and it was maintained that she broke-up contented and unique societies Labour now would be the ones to deny such people such golden existences? Mrs T founded the seat of climate studies at UAE then retracted her support, probably when Labour took ownership of the climate for their own ends, a situation that pertains today, a threat and inconvenience to its demographic, a product of the usual view of the command economy that socialist thinking always fall back.
To move strategically and with undue haste to green sources of energy while ignoring the plight of those that are already weighing being warm and eating hot food against the soaring cost of their energy bill, is not a good policy in a democratic country; it is divisive and can already be seen as setting one element of our society against another, the haves and those that want. When you ponder that this is your only existence; that you see the promise of venturing to have children, is to see them be more comfortable and more optimistic than you were before the age of climate politics. To see our children being actively frightened to death by propaganda emanating from government, NGOs, the sensationalist media, actors every one and the ignorant but highly imaginative individuals pursuing the green agenda, denotes that you have failed your progeny. You gave them life on a false premise, lied to yourself to give them life. They are to be denied the opportunity to enjoy the joys of the earth and the expectation to live without fear, only to castigate themselves for being alive. Look at Myers'[ numbers. Without our satisfaction and energy, what are their prospects. The countless numbers and their urgent need outweigh niceties and sophistry?
