Thoroughly well researched books and articles have now pinpointed beyond any reasonable doubt that a laboratory in Wuhan controlled by the Chinese military with woefully lax security allowed an experimentally manipulated virus to escape leading to over 5 million fatalities worldwide and colossal economic damage and yet no western national leader has had the courage to confront Xi and demand some form of reparation,admittance of responsibility and assurance of no future recurrences.
Trump was saying as much before he was ‘replaced’.

Eddy, whilst I absolutely agree, I must point out that Covid, right from the start, has preferentially killed the old, the sick, the overweight, males and apparently the non- Han Chinese.

I have some doubts.
Like hopefully the majority of reasonable human beings Martin I find it hard to believe that anyone would be willing to deliberately inflict something so dangerous on others but it is an hypothesis which it is difficult to entirely dismiss.
What we do know however is that the Chinese government were aware of the outbreak at least 3 months before they advised the West and that the Chinese military were certainly using the Wuhan laboratory to pursue the potential use of modified viruses as a war weapon.
If you haven’t read it I would recommend Sharri Markson’s book “What really happened in Wuhan” to obtain an insight into some of the truth and coverups behind this pandemic.

If what the doctor in SA is saying turns out to be the full story, this is a highly significant variant. If it only causes different and relatively mild symptoms, it could be the Covid killer. Get Omicron, be a bit ill for a few days, acquire Covid immunity as a result, all done. It’s highly infectious, with an R over 2 and the more dangerous variants will be squeezed out.
The major worry about it from what I have read is the large number of significant mutations and so the possibility that this variant has the capability to mutate to more dangerous places. That I think may be what is driving the strong reaction from govts.
The uncertainty is the problem and as this virus was produced under the direction of the Chinese army who almost certainly had the creation of Bio Weapons in mind I wonder whether any of our boffins know precisely what adaptations were carried out and would they tell us if they do.
Bio labs create hundreds of viruses, most of which are completely useless. I think Covid was a work in progress that got away. I have also read that it was common practice for the carcasses of test animals to be sold in the Wet Market, snake and bat meat being valuable. Didn’t matter for all the failures.
Also, in Wuhan one of the labs had a failed incineration unit that was not repaired, so staff would wheel the carcasses along the corridor to the next lab and destroy them there. So much for bio security.

The Xi Variant is way nastier. It manufactures cheap counterfeit copies and then invades your territory, builds artificial islands and claims them as their own.
