Vallance Cycles To The Rescue!
By Paul Homewood
h/t Ian Magness
A scientist who became well-known as the face of the government’s coronavirus response has advised that people should eat less meat and travel less to preserve the globe from the claimed climate disaster.
Sir Patrick Vallance, who spoke before a House of Lords committee on Tuesday, said that, in light of climate change, he has changed his diet and chosen to travel less, and advised that the public do the same. “I’m eating less meat, I cycle to work and I fly less than I used to,” the government’s top science advisor said according to The Telegraph. “I haven’t said I stopped flying or I don’t eat meat – I do. I think it’s about reduction and appropriate reduction across society.”
Vallance, who rose to national prominence as one of Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s top advisors during the Chinese coronavirus crisis, went on to say that the government’s Net Zero agenda, which aims to radically transform the British economy by 2050 to reduce carbon emissions almost entirely — “net zero” — is causing too much fear.
“It’s important that the messaging [on climate change] isn’t designed to cause fear or upset,” Sir Patrick said, adding: “It should be about making sure people understand what the situation is.
“We should not aim to frighten people because that’s not helpful, but we should aim to enable people to understand what actions they can take,” he continued, noting that it is “unarguable” that the net-zero agenda will force people to change their habits and lifestyle.

Since when was it the Government’s Chief Scientific Advisor’s job to discuss political policy matters?
And instead of virtue signalling, shouldn’t he give the public the actual facts? For instance, that if UK eliminates all emissions, it will have a zero effect on the world’s climate?
Or that UK emissions from meat production and aviation are so tiny that Asia emits more in a single day.
To pretend that a few “lifestyle” changes such as this are going to save us all from climate oblivion is utterly dishonest.

Would Sir Patrick Vallance, as a scientist, care to make a prediction when Anthropogenic Global Warming or Climate Change turn up? He could add his prediction to the long list of failed ‘prophecies’ we have been given in the past 40+ years.
When will AGW turn up?
Search-up “rapture” and its end-time prediction.
This is in the future and always will be and therefore can be repeatedly forecast over and over. The date is easily moved, so let’s just assume it is 30 years in the future and always will be.
Here we go again. Yet another ‘scientist’ feeling fully qualified to pronounce on a subject outside his field. I don’t think he covered himself in glory over his supposed role in the Covid crisis did he?
“It should be about making sure people understand what the situation is.” – Vallance
The situation is that nobody knows what the situation is. Which is handy for people like Vallance who want others to think they do know.
I have come to the conclusion Paul, that ‘scientists’ either know nothing about science or ignore what they don’t like. Vallance and Whitty and their ilk have lost a massive amount of credibility and, if anything, are damaging the Johnson’s climate scam.
Unbalanced liked the public profile he got when scaring the public over the Convirus so thinks he can continue with his hysterical mutterings on yet another subject where he has no knowledge. He is certifiable.
Valance is a political scientist and knows which side his bread is buttered. In March 2020, he opposed lockdown: https://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/uk-scientist-warns-coronavirus-lockdown-risks-more-deaths-a4386661.html
13 March 2020
“Boris Johnson’s top scientist has defended the Government’s battleplan against Covid-19 and said “you can’t stop it”.
Chief scientific adviser Sir Patrick Vallance warned that temporarily suppressing the looming epidemic with a four-month “lockdown” would risk it exploding into an even more devastating outbreak next winter.
Longer term, six out of 10 people will need to contract the virus to get “herd immunity”, he added.
“You can’t stop it,” he told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, predicting it is likely to become an annual, seasonal outbreak.”
Ten days later he was onboard the SAGE train.
A hypocrite, like all political scientists?
Fair’s fair. He had £600,000 worth of Big Pharma shares in February 2020. I wonder what they are worth today? It is nice that claims that this presented absolutely NO ‘Conflict of Interest’, because he wasn’t the man who signed off vaccine purchases, were promptly prepared for his adoring fans.
So, in the eyes of ‘Boris’ Alexander the InGreat, (not to mention Kneel Starmer and all the rest) he’s probably doing his very best and maybe deserves a new bike and a potted meat sandwich? And a third knighthood perhaps?
Interesting he now thinks that there might be “too much fear”. This from the character who was (with Whitty) waving about his latest shroud-waving graph when there was a suggestion that perhaps the Empire of Fear he had assiduously helped to create, might be slightly dialed down from eleven back, say, to ten.
Myself, I’m just a grumpy curmudgeon. But I really think he and some of his chums should be enjoying a very long period of quiet reflection in the Tower of London.
Heads on pikestaffs would be more appropriate, of course.
I would pay good money to see Vallance debated in public by someone like Richard Lindzen. But Vallance would chicken out.
Every so-called covid or climate scientist, aka: alarmist, who’s challenged to debate either subject never takes up the challenge. As is so often said, if it’s ‘settled science’, why the reluctance, they would easily win, wouldn’t they?
Argumentum ad Verecundiam fallacy: argument from inappropriate authority.
‘To pretend that a few “lifestyle” changes such as this are going to save us all from climate oblivion is utterly dishonest.’
He is utterly wrong, but we don’t know if he is dishonest or stupid. We can’t know what he’s thinking. But . . .
“Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity.” – Hanlon’s razor
There are many like him to fail to contemplate that the zero in Net Zero is zero. Not a reduction, rather complete elimination. Most of the legacy press reports on “climate action” (sic) hide this stark reality, leaving the people to believe that Net Zero is actually possible. Vallance has been duped by the media and politicians, just like the proles.
Mr Vallance is not so much a foolish dupe as a woke globalist technocrat .I personally am quite sure he understands Net Zero is an unattainable surrogate Parousia . Moreover it is impossible to verify if he is really rationing his meat intake or modifying his travel arrangements You see this is not about ” appropriate reduction across society ” It is all about ‘nudging ‘ and controlling the lives of others under the pretext of a mythical ‘ climate crisis’ for which there is no evidence . The imaginary hobgoblins that H.L Mencken warned us about .How the chief scientific advisor to the United Kingdom government could believe ‘gendered climate action ‘ nonsense has any merit is beyond me :
” Sir Patrick Vallance [ Twitter ] Nov 9 2021 : ” Inclusion is Key : How Gender Equality Improves Science , Tech & Innovation for Climate Action ” will put a spotlight on how increased diversity globally benefits climate action and the importance of gender responsive solutions ” Imagine sitting through the dreary intersectional psychobabble of that seminar . Perhaps while we break out the popcorn Mr Vallance could provide some SAGE advice on how gender diversity and inclusiveness ‘solutions’ may have contributed to the global decline in climatic disasters this century
The 39,000 attendees from all corners of our globe who visited the Glasgow Gabfest obviously considered theirs was “Climate essential travel”
Every one named & shamed here:

Wow, the Prime Minister of Albania and 13 bag carriers! Were they off to Harrods after the Glasgow jollies?
Despite Covid travel restrictions, Brazil had 479 attendees, Turkey (376), Democratic Republic of the Congo (373), Ghana (337) and Russia (312).
NGOs sent 11,734 participants!

All to demand we little people reduce *our* carbon footprint.
Well, we must be grateful than our betters have sufficient time to provide us with such useful guidance
Come on Joe Public!
Carbon Brief gets excited about the ratio of “men” to “women”!
That’ll never do! Are they transphobic or what?!?
What about all the other genders they are teaching my eight year old Great Granddaughter about in school?
I think we should vilify Rt Hon Alok Sharma MP.
Must try harder!

Meat and Dairy production, if done properly, enhances soil quality with less need for artificial fertilizer.
But that isn’t WEF policy.
Utterly dishonest Paul? Delusional, on-message virtue signalling more like.
The dark shadow of authoritarianism is creeping ever closer. For someone so eminently qualified in his field it’s astonishing to find how naive he is.
Naivety is almost a given for eminently qualified people. The further up the academic tree you climb, the narrower is your field of expertise. As a consequence you lose sight of your limitations.
Was Vallance one of those people who conspired to accuse people who suspected a Wuhan lab leak of being conspiracy theorists? Maybe he was. Matt Ridley writes:
“Jeremy Farrar – who organised the call on 1 February with Patrick Vallance, Francis Collins, Anthony Fauci and a Who’s Who of virology – had already spilled a few of the beans in his book, Spike, published last year. He wrote that at the start of February 2020 he thought there was a 50 per cent chance the virus was engineered, while Kristian Andersen of the Scripps Research Institute was at 60-70 per cent and Eddie Holmes of Sydney University put it at 80 per cent. But some time after the call they all changed their mind. Why? They have never troubled us with an answer.”
https://www.rationaloptimist.com/blog/suppressing-the-lab-leak-theory/
Why? Because they do not think us proles should be informed of the decisions taken by our lords and masters
You’re not a ” prole’ or any working class equivalent …..You are a snobbish sniping little troll …..And a fake
Charmed I’m sure.
One day you might sequence a paragraph – or heaven forbid – an intelligent argument comprising two or three paragraphs
I cannot imagine what I have done to upset your sense of decorum, other than having an opinion that differs to yours. However, have you ever come across the piece of advice I was given when first starting out in the world of work back in the late 60s? “Better to keep quiet and let people think you are an idiot, than to open your mouth and prove the point”
All you do here is dart in and snipe ……I have no ‘sense of decorum ‘ and you do not have the pleasure of upsetting me …. As for that piece of ‘advice ‘ you have cited that prosaic cliche here before and it befits you more so than me . Anyway continue with your opinions in lieu of intelligent arguments Does that give you a nudge ?
How nice of you to recall my previous comments in the midst of an ad hominem comment 🤣
Delighting in your cliched unoriginal thought The ad hominem sniping and even sick fantasies about strangling Prince Charles [ a serious offence ] emanate from you .. Now unless you are some undercover troll [in my home state one colloquialism is a ‘Vernon Demerest’ named after Brett Guerin ] in some insulated government employ you may be expecting a visit Then again you haven’t misgendered a transsexual or some such heinous thought-crime so you may get off lightly .
At least you’re getting the attention you crave as an antagonistic provocateur and that observation or my other criticisms of you are not ‘ad hominem ‘ at all . Ad hominem is a debating fallacy in lieu of an argument. Learned something new today ?
What point has been proved here ? I haven’t threatened a member of the Royal family with a sick asphyxiation fantasy – or indeed anyone …You have
.
Perhaps this is a case of two countries separated by a common language? Or an example of how the English sense of irony is not well understood outside England? Thank you soooo much for educating me🤣🤣
You wont be amused in the near future …..Tavistock
Something I said must have rattled him ……You can expect a formal complaint lodged you nasty troll
An in depth analysis, including the scientists who worked in the lab.
That’s your alibi – “an English sense of irony ” ….Tavistock
The reason he does not deal in facts is they do not support his politics. So either he has to make some up or ignore them.
Idea – Ban football to save the planet. Thought not.
“It should be about making sure people understand what the situation is.”
The situation IS clear. Net-zero emissions means negative emissions. We need to capture and store massive amounts of CO2 under pressure. The situation IS clear. We need to rapidly transition to a renewable world. The problem IS clear. Transportation using fossil fuels will be required to do either. Lowering emissions ASAP will make that difficult, if not impossible. People in charge of policy should understand that.
And hugely pointless and economically an unparalleled calamity
Understand? They can’t even understand/equate that CCS requires approx 50% *extra* power generation to power it. That’s why in reality it’s a non-starter. Economically, it’s a disaster. But then, politicians love to spend other peoples’ money on vanity projects don’t they.
The only way to “transition quickly” is to vastly increase CO2 emissions as any rapid change requires very large amounts of energy. If you believe CO2 is a problem, then it is a very stupid idea.
Broadlands,
the situation is as clear as mud!
There is considerable variation in scientific circles as to what the influence of CO2 on climate is, the so called climate sensitivity to doubling of CO2 concentration.
The IPCC relies on climate models, which consistently gives a large over estimate, it’s been this way for thirty years; clear?
What is certain there will be no transition to clean generation using renewables. Nuclear is the only possible, not certain, route to that goal but no real chance of that happening by 2050, even if renewables are ditched tomorrow. (As they should be)
Well he was given his knighthood for what he’s said and done over the past 2+ years, so I suppose he’s still paying for it.
I just wonder how many people now believe anything Mr Vallance, or his chuckle brother, Mr Whitty, say about anything.
What an utterly useless lineup we had: Botchit, Handcockup, Whitless and Vanity.
Don’t forget Farrar. He has an an extraordinary array of “jobs” and is hugely influential, though its not clear why. He co-wrote a paper a few years back with Whitty and Ferguson advocating the use of lockdowns to stop Ebola. I’m convinced they saw Covid as their chance to try their pet theory.
Isn’t it curious that these heavyweight knighted science persons seem to lose all common sense after they have been baptized enough times by the meeja. It’s bang off about anything in order to keep a meeja presence going and feature on an editor’s rolladex for quick call up when said editor is too bloody idle to get someone appropriate.
For Vallance read King; the job evidently changes the incumbent in ways that are not capable of cogent explanation.
So, you do agree that “climate change” will lead us into “climate oblivion”?
No, but mr Putin might.
What exactly do you think “climate oblivion” means and where exactly in the science is that demonstrated?
You seem to think repeating dreary false cliches is winning an argument.
Ask Paul
Well, I dont fly, dont work and can’t cycle after an illness so that must me better than mr Vallance
Well, Vallance contributes 0.04% (global CO2) * 3% (man’s % of global CO2) * 1% (UK’s % of global CO2) / 68,528,774 (Worldometer UK population), or 0.00000000000000175% to the atmosphere. No doubt he’ll try and fool us by saying “it’s a good start, and others will surely follow”.
Would he save more CO2 emissions if he simply stopped breathing?
As I noted in a previous post, that when my other half had a severe burn with two skin grafts the surgeon prescribed plenty of red meat and eggs to aid recovery. We complied of course.
The measure of Vallance is that he and others were demonstrably incompetent re: management of Covid. Hopefully, manslaughter charges will follow, the High Court ruling this week should be the first step.
“Government policies on discharging untested patients from hospital to care homes in England at the start of the Covid pandemic have been ruled unlawful by the High Court.”
Perhaps there will be a similar ruling re: expensive home heating = energy poverty = deaths.
” Energy poverty deaths will go ‘through the roof’ this winter, says National Energy Action ”
from LBC https://www.lbc.co.uk/radio/presenters/andrew-pierce/energy-poverty-deaths-will-go-through-the-roof-this-winter-says-national-energy/ Surprising to see that on LBC, LBC presenters are generally vehement believers, particularly O’Brien who usually refuses to allow comments from non-believers on his show.
If I was a trader, I’d be taking all these statements on prices this winter as a sign to go short.
It’s unlikely that UK domestic energy (gas and electricity) retail prices will drop this year, particularly if Russia stops selling gas direct to Europe.
