Is Climate Change Affecting Marine Pilots Brains?

What is it about climate change that turns otherwise intelligent people’s brains to mush?

What planet is this guy on?

During his 25 years, sea levels have risen by about 2 inches, an imperceptible amount, given that tides can rise and fall by several feet. Yet he claims he has observed it?

There is no evidence to back up his assertion of stronger winds, indeed the opposite is true, as the UK is less stormy now than it was in the 1990s:

Fog, snow, easterly winds? He is clearly just making up this drivel as he goes along.

He makes this observation:

Has it not occurred to him developers are doing this because they know that seas are not rising significantly?

Edward Pentney, who tipped me off, is a ship’s pilot on the Manchester Ship Canal. As he comments:

“I’m pretty sure the sea level (Mersey Estuary) where the Manchester Ship Canal meets the sea at Eastham has not changed since the canal opened in 1894 as the original lock structures are exactly the same as built!”

I suspect he is right!

I wouldn’t like to think I was relying on this virtue signalling twerp to pilot me into or out of one of the trickier harbours or up a challenging estuary.

I can imagine what Nelson might make of him…

I’d love to know what answer he got to his comment about hybrid tugs…

We should all be grateful that he is a former!
I trust that he recovers soon and enjoys his retirement. On land!!!!!

Yet another victim of mass hysteria: as explained so well by Hans Christian Anderson in 1837.

I concur, my freind in NZ recently send me some pictures taken 100 years apart of a quay somwhere near where he lives. to my untrained eye although the clothes had changed the water level looked suspiciously the same.

The comments by Don suggest mental deterioration.
Apparently, he was once a high functioning person.
Now he has been infected by the “Climate Cult” bug, or
this appeared in the Babylon Bee.

Strange. Thanks Paul for the graph. Compelling evidence from Eastham lock entrance.
Perhaps there is more to come from among the other erudite commentators — with stats. showing trends. At least they indicate the truth better than the usual auto-suggestive questions of this sort of virtue signaller.

Sea Lock gates would be a very interesting focus for empirical research into sea level changes because the lock keepers will know how often they are at risk of over-topping and there will almost always be records of the date of construction or alteration of the height. There aren’t a great many that are old enough to be of interest but there are some. Sluices and weirs are another possible source of information, but when drainage authorities change their records are sometimes lost.

When we have an earthquake which is classified as a one in a hundred years occurence it does NOT mean we will wait another hundred years for a similar quake. That can and does happen within a week or a month . See Canterbury Quake Live. This must be the same for all extreme weather occurences.. The storm of a lifetime can be equalled in a couple of years time. It is unlikely but many things which do happen are unlikel

It’s amazing how virtually everyone gets that wrong. Once every hundred years means it will happen ten times in 1,000 years, not every hundred years.

“What is it about climate change that turns otherwise intelligent people’s brains to mush?” Ignorance, fear, and misinformed official narratives.

Misinformed official narratives? Misinforming narratives surely. Every official narrative I see is deliberate misinformation.

Agree with you totally , it seems any one can call themselves an expert these days . Lob on a few letters after your name and dah dah , I’m a marine pilotage expert.

Betteridge’s Law states that any headline ending with a question mark can be answered by the word ‘no’.

I suppose if you write some drivel about ‘climate change’ you can guarantee seeing your name in print somewhere.

I joined that organisation a few years back. It recognised my qualifications at the level of Member. The first communication from them was pushing CC agenda. I didn’t bother reading their (prodigious) guff after that. Now retired and free of it.

This guy is basically a liar. Have a look a his linkedin page.
    https://uk.linkedin.com/in/doncockrill
His claimed secondary school “Faversham Grammar School” has never, ever been called that so God knows why he would call Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School by a different name?
His period as “Partner representative (IMPA) to the Navigating a Changing Climate partnership” rather gives away his motivations. Next time I am in Faversham (a very regular occurrence) I shall look this mendacious idiot and have a word with him.

He has more airport check ins than I have had hot dinners but he still spouts on about saving the planet.

And the rest of the locks leading into Liverpool and Birkenhead/Wallasey docks are the same as originally installed.
Methinks the pilot has an ulterior motive. Perhaps Mammon got involved

Just a thought…… Russian TV were transmitting a panel programme this week where a defence spokesman said that one Russian submarine with missiles targeted at UK power stations could “send the UK back to the stone age in 10 minutes”. I wonder if we have been misjudging successive UK Governments who have destroyed our energy security with apparently mad policies. A Think Tank years ago may have predicted a World War 3 with Russia, and seeing that our power stations are very vulnerable to attack, decided millions of turbines might be difficult to target…??
