Do the editors of The Conversation realise just how utterly ridiculous they have become recently over climate change?
They say that your cup of coffee consumes water resources and emits GHGs. But so does just every other aspect of human life, including death for that matter.
Maybe they would all be happier when the human race has died out?

I’d start by asking ‘ where’s the data that proves this?’ It’s just parroting of the usual nonsense that doesn’t stand up to scrutiny.
Do they have any “Grounds” to support this idea?
😂👏
LOL!!!
Very good.
Ha, peak insanity surely? Government to save Chinese steel in UK provided the cash is used for decarbonisation.

“Maybe they would all be happier when the human race has died out?”
Didn’t you get the memo? From the WEF? That aim apparently underlines all their policies, excluding their hallowed selves of course…..
alexei, that’s going to cause a lot of future poverty and hard work for the billionaires and millionaires gathering in Davos.
your cup of coffee consumes water resources
Coffee can’t hold a candle to lithium…
While the Atacama Desert experiences water scarcity, lithium companies pump billions of liters of brine from the area’s subsoil.
. . .
In addition, the companies use some quantities of freshwater.

“How many fools does it take to make up an expert?” – apology to Chamfort
Gamecock, definition of an expert: ex = has been + spurt = a drip under pressure.
I was reminded today (anagram of toady) of Chamfort’s quote
“Swallow a toad in the morning and you will encounter nothing more disgusting the rest of the day.”

I wonder how Kylee Gray’s day progressed.
When I hear, “experts say” I am always asking: “Why are they experts?”; “what are their credentials to be called an expert?” To date, there seem to be no answers to these obvious questions.
Like “celebrities”, putative experts are mosly people who believe in their opinions and are thus accepted subjectively by their admirers. Some have notional justifications like College degrees or work experience in the relevant area of work and study.
Subjectivity is the main judgement charactestic, as in appraisal of,, say, beauty.
The original meaning of ‘expert’ is from the Latin ‘expertus,’ ‘known by experience.’
That is a two-step definition. First you have to experience something and second you have to learn from the experience.
Most academic learning is instruction and gives the illusion of experience rather than the real thing. As for the second step, people can claim they have taken it, but why should we believe them?
A long time ago I noticed that the word ‘expert’ was being used in political and social reporting more and more as a synonym for ‘obsessively interested in.’ And this has spread to everything. It is all the word seems to really signify now. This is unfortunate, however, as most people have not noticed this change in use*, and still think they are listening to ‘authorities.’
* Whatever happened to the people referred to in the Dictionary, in comments on ‘usage,’ as ‘careful writers and speakers’ ?
Experts have ‘prestige’. This means that the idiots in the legacy media and the morons in government will listen to them and consider them part of their bubble. And as we can quite plainly see, ‘prestige’ does not confer knowledge.
Excellent insight, Gerry.
The declaration of ‘expert’ is a proclamation of eliteness, the highest caste. Hence, they should be listened to. It doesn’t mean they know more.
Our betters are not better because they are more knowledgeable. Even when they are wrong, they are better.
“…including death for that matter. Unless bodies are stuffed into a hermetically sealed casket…that was manufactured, delivered and buried using fossil fuels for the transportation involved. With the hearse driver drinking coffee?
I think that there is a secretive group (or groups) of influential people who are seeking to bring down humanity.
In 1990 Maurice Strong, a former U.N. Under-Secretary General, made the following statement: “What if a small group of world leaders were to conclude that the principal risk to the Earth comes from the actions of rich countries?… In order to save the planet, the group decides: Isn’t the only hope for the planet that the industrialized civilizations collapse? Isn’t our responsibility to bring that about?” The following year the Club of Rome published a report entitled The First Global Revolution (Pantheon Books), in which the following statement appeared: “The common enemy of humanity is man. In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill. All these dangers are caused by human intervention, and it is only through changed attitudes and behaviour that they can be overcome”.
The theme was picked up in 2019 by Greta Thunberg, who said: “Action must be powerful and wide-ranging. After all, the climate crisis is not just about the environment. It is a crisis of human rights, of justice, and of political will. Colonial, racist, and patriarchal systems of oppression have created and fuelled it. We need to dismantle them all.” Similar views have been expressed by the climate activist group Extinction Rebellion.

STOP PRESS: BBC UNDER THREAT.
Unbelievable as it may seem experts say that the UK public no longer want the lying BBC to exist…………
It’s even worse with Coca Cola, but they are a ‘good’ company …
My Local Authority (Conservative Party led, having declared a “Climate Emergency”) has just announced that it will no longer accept cardboard coffee & tea cups for recycling. You could not make it up!
I have both a “recycle” blue bin and a normal waste black bin. They are collected alternate weeks. I have been putting whatever I like in both for the last 8 years.
and I couldn’t care less – and it would seem neither do the bin collectors.
An interesting thing about recycling is how it is connected to the growth of fly tipping. If we all ignored the recycling bin and just used the other one, then councils will find that the government will be hitting them with an increased landfill tax. This might shine a light on this stupid EU creation which has made it much cheaper, and simpler, just to fly tip stuff.
‘They’ are getting desperate. Sadly, I think it’s children they’re aiming at (which must include MPs).
At least they are recycling …
But but.
Isn’t that offset by the co2 taken out of the atmosphere by growing the coffee?
The present level of atmospheric CO2 at about 415ppm is at about the lowest tension adequate to maintain photosynthesis and so keep vegetation proliferating, without which we all die, before our times.
At one of her press conferences I would love to ask Greta “What is the perfect level of CO2 in the atmosphere?”
I’d bet her answer would be “Zero”!!!!!!
Saving energy can be a fallacy
If you are in a room that needs heating
then boiling the kettle or using light bulbs that give off heat is not wasteful
cos the only waste is heat that warms the room, therefore meaning you use an equal amount less energy in your room heating system

#2 The BBC article was written by Helen Briggs
Who wrote the article with the faked Turtle/plastic bag 10 months ago ?
Yep her too
She also wrote 19 April 2021 story
“Climate change: Future-proofing coffee in a warming world”
https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-56804147
and 11 April 2014 story
Can you live without processed food?
qualms about coffee – does it count as processed?
.. a concession – I can have coffee as long as I buy the coffee beans and grind them myself.”
Illustrates the childish stupidity of these people – it’s obvious that transporting beans to a central location and grinding them there is far Greener than grinding them at home. But “processed food” whatever that is, is evil so off we go. Green/Progressivism is nothing more than the irrational hatreds of prejudiced people.
The BBC has now done it’s own article by cutNpasting TheConversation

Climaters get no kickbacks from the sale of water. So maybe next, they’ll force us to buy the water to make the coffee at the same time and double the price, in order to purchase the coffee. Of course, “climate change” is about money, not the weather.
Paul,
I looked into the claims of coffee being under threat, back in October 2019:
I have continued to update (including with the latest nonsense about coffee drinking being bad for the planet) in comments below that article.
Nothing is “bad” for the planet. Its a rock ball that will still be here in 1 billion years, long after humans have vanished without a trace. The planet doesn’t care one way or another what we do. The current life will be wiped out at some point and have to start again, or will be squeezed into tropical zones by another ice age of five. These people present their own personal prejudices as “caring about the planet” just as every other irrational religious zealot has done in the past.
“Pavlovian: (of a reaction or response) automatic; involuntary.”
“Climate change!” “Whimper, whimper.”
Don Keiller posted the graph that contradicts the narrative
Damn . . . I hope they don’t go after beer next.
Back in the good ol’ days, we’d get the annual “Coffee is bad/good/bad/good/bad/good/bad/good for you” reports.
Now, it’s bad/good/bad/good for the planet. Somehow, that’s supposed to be more important than what’s good/bad for me.
Coffee, like beer, is important to people. So they make it the focus of their propaganda. The article isn’t about coffee. It’s about shaping your behavior.
If Goebbels had written it, it would be no more evil.
You like meat? They’re going after that, too. Because YOU care.
In the world of the Green. – the baby always goes out with the bath water..
There’s talk of new house builds having to install rain & bath water collection for things like toilet flushing and garden watering…
It’s fun spending other people’s money.
