David Viner must be SO pleased that his name was very soon added to the list of Climate Plonkers. It would be interesting to hear what he has to say now.
Well, back then he also said:
“Heavy snow will return occasionally, says Dr Viner, but when it does we will be unprepared. “We’re really going to get caught out. Snow will probably cause chaos in 20 years time,” he said.”
Weather does these sorts of things. I’m in Washington State and ready to bonk on their heads those praying for snow. Please stop!
‘Living in the past’ here in North Wales this morning a full 10cms of frozen precipitation that in previous epochs was called SNOW!
More tosh from appalling so called journalists.
Saw a picture earlier of Dolgellau all covered in white, looked very picturesque.
No snow whatsoever here in south devon
Well, it is the English riviera!
Weather! dont you just love it.
UK weather! So unpredictable.
Yes, who would ever have thought it would snow in winter!
We’re all doomed!
Best weather forecast even in the UK, tomorrow’s weather will be pretty much like today’s
Would be funny if this was not part of the onslaught of lies and propaganda from the woke middle-classes and government advisors who are conned by the billionaires-club into believing that they are “fighting climate change” and such B/S.
I was musing about Viner the other day, and thought that normally ,an inquisitive media would have this climate nonsense, and its perpetrators on the front page, but no,the big Green Lie has to continue.
Didn”t Kerry have a few words on this also.
Vietnam War hero, Kerry, predicted in 2009 that the Arctic would be “ice-free” by 2014. *cough*

It would just be hilarious, if it wasn’t that people like him are trying to send us back to the dark ages because of their idiotic Net Zero obsession.
You can say that again, Debbie C. 😉
(couldn’t resist)

Twice is enough- we have twigged it on this forum, keep spreading the evidence everyware you can.
I’m walking on the
snowair.See, even The Snowman doesn’t know what snow is any more. Modern education…
From Viner’s LinkedIn profile:
“Currently a Co-ordinating Lead Author for the IPCC and been involved with the IPCC since 1992. Lead Author on the IPCC’s Special Report on Climate Change and Land. TCFD and TNFD experience, I understand the benefits of these task forces to help mobilise the corporate sector to help deliver on the key global climate and biodiversity metrics. ”
No shame or contrition, just another snout in climate change trough.
Didn’t he predict an ice free Arctic in summer by 2012 or was that some other fraud?
Prof. Peter Wadhams of Cambridge, a Wadham (1 M km2) is now a (satirical) unit of measurement of Arctic ice.
https://rclutz.com/2021/10/12/arctic-ice-already-exceeds-six-wadhams/
Currently well over 14 Wadhams. I hope he’s got a magical hat to disappear all that ice into because Mother Nature isn’t helping him.
It’s actually superb. 14 Wadhams! Ha ha. Thoroughly well deserved too, I might add.
I like the idea of a ‘Wadham’. Perhaps we should introduce the measurement known as a ‘Viner’, meaning one Viner equals one UK county covered with snow!
Children just won’t know what snow is, according to Viner.
Mind you, Viner has made a career out of climate catastrophism, so who are the mugs – him or those of us who scoff at him?
We didn’t get much snow in my corner of the SE as it was not quite cold enough even on the higher ground. I used to live on the North Downs as we got loads more snow than down below even with an altitude change of just 300ft.
Dr North was reporting many inches of snow in his part of Yorkshire and commented on the ever changing MetOffice forecast.
It was colder where I am before the ‘cold’ weather arrived! No frost/snow at all. The media coverage is misleading, most of the decent snow was at elevation inland. Very thin and very wet most places in England.
No doubt he’ll stand by his comments to keep the income stream alive.
Dr. David Viner a senior research scientist at the climate research unit CRU of the University of East Anglia “Within a few years winter snowfall will become a rare and exciting event. Children just aren’t going to know what snow is” Source: The Independent, March 20, 2000
The original date of 2007 was subsequently modified to 2013 then 2017 (I have no further Date)
However 2007 Dr. David Viner within twenty years, the Mediterranean would become far too hot for European holiday makers, who would instead flock to Blackpool to take advantage of warmer summers in the UK.
Amusingly I travelled into Liverpool last July on the fast ferry from Douglas, it was 35c and the recurring news on the tv screens was of climate armageddon, yet over on the Birkenhead shoreline it was impossible to see any beach, it was so packed with Solar worshippers. More sun please. The irony would be lost on the bbc.
No mention of EV owners being stuck overnight. Probably cos there were no survivors
You mean to tell me Al Boring lied to us? I am shocked!
Trouble is that if you are on a publisher’s/ bursar’s pay roll you have to produce the goods and that leaves little time to complete your research.
At least there is less din about Spring coming earlier this year. Funny how it all goes silent when weather doesn’t follow the script.
How would we cope if we had a repeat of 1947 or 1962/63 winters?
I think you should say ‘will’ instead of ‘would’, knowing our unpredictable climate.
With difficulty!
It’s interesting isn’t it – the instant the University of East Anglia is mentioned it gives the kiss of death to all credibility.
