Jennifer Granholm Praises China

March 11, 2023

I don’t believe even Jennifer Granholm can be this deluded:

U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm claimed Friday that Americans can "learn from what China is doing" in combating climate change.

During an interview at the annual SXSW conference in Austin, Texas, Granholm sang the praises of China for its efforts to reduce climate change, claiming the country is actually "very sensitive" about the issue, more so than the United States.

Granholm made these claims despite the fact that China recently hit its coal-production record last year. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, "55% of China’s energy" now comes from fossil fuel "compared to 11% in the U.S."

She then praised China’s climate change efforts, saying, "But, I think China has done — has been very sensitive, and has actually invested a lot in their solutions, to achieve their goals."

Granholm added, "So we’re — we’re hopeful that, you know, we can all learn from what China is doing."

The secretary also noted, "the amount of money that they’re investing in clean energy is actually, you know, encouraging."

Granholm is Energy Secretary in arguably one of the worst Administrations in US history. Like most of Biden’s cabinet, she is utterly unfit for her job. But even she must surely be aware of the actual data, which shows that the contribution of wind and solar in China is tiny, and has been swamped by the increase in fossil fuel consumption in recent years.

So why is she spouting such nonsense?

It is a sad fact that the Biden administration has been sucking up to China for the last two years. Biden himself, John Kerry, Anthony Blinken and others all seem afraid to say anything critical about the country, whether about climate change, the Uighers, Taiwan or spy balloons.

And China will carry on treating them all like the fools they are.

The bottom line is they can’t admit China doesn’t give a damn, because if they did then their own population would say “why should we give a damn”

Very true. Apart from her being an ignoramus, that is the only explanation that makes sense to me.

For me, the ‘tell’ that showed she had no confidence in what she was saying was her frequent use of, ‘you know…’

She sucked as our governor here in Michigan, and she is even worse as the energy secretary

What China is doing has nothing to do with climate change. Does climate change even exist to any meaningful extent ? I would argue not. But Granholm is possibly correct that China has it right to use much more cheap, clean coal ? In that respect US could increase its use of coal from already fairly high levels.

No doubt China has an eye on reducing imports, to help with inevitable wars of the future.

Surely China do have the correct approach to climate change. They understand that it is a totally made up non problem and are ignoring it and getting on with growing their economy.

Hear, Hear. She is right in one of her sentences.
‘we can all learn from what China is doing’
They are building coal-fired power stations and digging new coal mines.
This is what we should learn and do.
Alas our ruling classes are too stupid to learn. Time to bring back the Guillotine?

The calibre of Biden administration appointees is simply pitiful – ignorance slathered with incuriousness and an appetite for regurgitating whatever mendacity their eco-activist advisors (or lobbyists) have whipped up is the default setting.

    Roads are racist you know…

elsewhere – here’s a lady who’s likely tagged for a “ministerial” gig in the USA giving it to Alex Epstein

While not relating to the climate change debate, I would recommend reading Red Handed by Peter Schweizer which might explain why so many American politicians and their elites show support for the Chinese government.

Could it be that the Biden Administration and the Secretary of their Department of Energy are smarter than we think?

Could it be that they really do know increasing levels of atmospheric CO2 will bring negligible increases of global warming (which is only at about 0.13 degrees C per decade anyway), as shown by the work of Happer & Wijngaarden, and will green the planet and lead to increases of food production?

But that by implementing the UN’s China led policies to persuade the West to unilaterally implement Net Zero will destroy the economies and social cohesion of China’s enemies, the West, whilst giving China enormous economic and military advantageous through having access to abundant and cheap fossil fuel energy instead of expensive and intermittent renewables?

J B , that .13 degree C per decade mentioned is only the figure that comes out after the records have been ADJUSTED .
The real figure is actually .03 Degrees C.https://notrickszone.com/2023/01/09/hadcrut-data-manipulation-changes-2000-2014-warming-trend-from-0-03c-to-0-14c-per-decade/

      0.13 deg C…0.03 deg C…

No-one has yet explained how it is possible for “climate scientists” to produce authoritative “average” Global temperature figures precise to two decimal places between the poles and the Equator.

A quick inspection of the three thermometers in our living room at the moment show 20.0 deg C at 5 feet AGL at shelf level, 16.1 deg C at table top level and 13.3 deg C at floor level, over a horizontal range of around 6 feet.

Many moons ago when I commenced studying physics at “O” level, if I had stated any parameter without suitable plus/minus limits I would have lost marks.

Catweazel ,yes it is possible to get whatever temperatures you want by using different sources .
Look at how they claimed ” Hottest day ever ” by using temp gauges beside the runways at airfields with jet planes taking off .

I sometimes use this site ,http://temperature.global/ which takes readings from about 70 thousand weather stations around the world .By using the same ones all the time it is possible to average global temperature day by day and year by year . But their temps , over a 30 years average , show that the last 8 years have all been below average . So they will never be recognised by the Green loonies who will keep claiming the world is getting hotter .

Dementia Joe & Co are just obeying their puppet masters. A recent survey showed a lot of people in the US believed that the real controllers of the country were not in the government.

Those of us who live in in Michigan were glad to get rid of our Governor Granholm, who knows next to nothing about energy. Now she can do damage at a national level. She was eventually replaced by a Governor Witless, who is even worse. We just keep losing here in Michigan USA.

    New BBC propaganda tactic.
We all know that DA’s nature programs these days are packed with doomster tripe with no basis in reality or at best grossly exaggerated.
They have also developed the tactic of keeping it subtle in most episodes then giving it to us both barrels in the last of each series.
With the latest offering they have decided to pretend the sucker punch episode isn’t part of the series and will be iPlayer only to avoid provoking a right wing storm. Then they have their minions create a storm over censorship, demand the final episode is aired, and all complaints are headed off and discredited.
    Very sly.

“I don’t believe even Jennifer Granholm can be this deluded”.

You obviously don’t know Secretary Granholm very well.

China is the worlds leading industrial economy particularly in the green systems western government seek to mandate. They know the west will become even less competitive as it myopically pursue “greening” energy and transport. They are selling the rope the west will use to strangle their economies. Secretary Granholm is pleased to get it a a good price.

“Why is she spouting such nonsense?”

Well an aide probably just told her that the Global Wind Energy Council (Yes it does exist) said in it’s 2022 report that China installed 80% of all offshore wind capacity in 2021 and is also the largest market for onshore wind, both of which are true, but didn’t tell her that wind only produced a small percentage of China’s energy.( And who understands percentages these days when maths is racist.)

Popped into M&S today for a browse. Had a look at leather belts going for 25 quid a pop. Made in ruddy China; a lot of the other items, shoes etc, probably the same. Came out with nothing. Shame really because I had a voucher to spend.
