XR Founder Moans About His Carrots

Oh dear, how sad, never mind!

Extinction Rebellion co-founder Roger Hallam has taken to Twitter to share his frustration in an 11-point thread after he was served carrots and a handful of potatoes for dinner as the ‘vegan option’ in hospital.

Mr Hallam posted a photo of an almost empty plate from his bed which had just a portion of carrots on it, writing 391 words on the environmental benefits of going vegan – but did admit he had already eaten the ‘six’ potatoes that were served on the side.

The controversial environmentalist, 56, who also helped form eco mobs Insulate Britain and Just Stop Oil, has been in hospital after ‘crushing’ his leg during an accident while riding his bike.

He was last Friday pictured with an external fixator on his right leg which is used to hold broken bones in place with metal pins or screws.

It comes after a week of ‘slow-marching’ protests by Just Stop Oil across central London, with expected action on Saturday at 12pm in Westminster.

Mr Hallam posted this photo online with the caption 'vegan option' and an 11-point Twitter thread

I’m not really sure what else a vegan can expect to eat in winter in our glorious fossil fuel free future. There will ne food imports, because they will need fossil fuels to ship them. So there will be little else  than potatoes and carrots for months at a time, unless you want something out of a tin.

By the way Roger, I wonder how much fossil fuels were used to manufacture that fixator around your leg, ferry you to the hospital in an ambulance or supply all of the other things needed in the hospital to keep you alive?

Whatever is eaten (vegan or not) will be recycled back to CO2 and water by the oxygen that plants have created. The natural carbon cycle cannot be fooled.

Keep your feet on the ground: the UK winter can provide leeks , turnips , suedes, sprouts as well as Roger’s favourites even if fossil fuelled vehicles have to bring them all from the wholesalers in Spalding. Not sure what the squalid pictures are supposed to say apart from the exhibitionism of the entitled.

We’re still eating pumpkins (excellent variety ‘crown prince’). Harvested last November before first frost and stored in cellar above zero they last and last. Together with the butternut squash and potatoes and carrots all harvested and stored we havent bought vegetables for years and will be carried through to the new seasons crops. Now having salads again from first sowings.
Of course we enhance these meals with eggs from our chickens, and meat from our chickens and the two young pigs we raised and killed last November and butchered to our freezer. They’ll last until we kill the young calf we raised and will put in the freezer this summer.

Often when I read posts on here I realise just how uneducated I am and how much I still have to learn.
“soma”!?! Kudos for that. I had to rush off and study Hindu religion to figure that comment out.

I really hope he gets well so — on another topic, XR are like many one-legged men: hopping round in circles. I hope Hallam realises that there in NOTHING in the NHS that doesn’t rely on fossil-fuels. Otherwise he’d have to face amputation – the hard way. As they might say in the Navy: he’s like a weighed anchor.

As he did not like the carrots, perhaps we should use the stick.

I have little sympathy for vegans and none for extinction rebellion but if hospitals are going to offer vegan options they really should do better.

Better to order from outside and have it delivered by someone on a bicycle. I’ve seen some hospital food (regular stuff) and while it may meet dietary guidelines, any pub can produce better food.

I had a brief stay at Hull Royal Infirmary and the food was pretty good. I had no problem getting vegetarian options, vegan is a bit more extreme. If you are going to cut out dairy and eggs you don’t really have much choice left. Veganism is a luxury that only a well developed and prosperous society can provide. If XR get their way he is going to end up eating grass.

Struggling to decide whether I care less about his lunch, or his breaking his leg.

Can’t figure why this is a news story. Are Mail readers into XR? Do they care about this creep? Is this the Mail revealing THEY care about XR and Hallam?

BTW: I envision his vegan lunch was made by the nurse just scraping the meat off before serving him. Which amuses me.

    • April 30, 2023 2:43 am

The nurse? Nurses don’t do such menial tasks nowadays
Health care assistants do 90% of the nursing whilst nurses sit around at computer terminals.

carrots and potatoes grow faster if the CO2 content is higher An extra 300 ppm increases carrot growth by 78% and potatoes by 31%. Al vegans should be for increase in CO2 content

Did someone run over it ?

Three plastic or polystyrene beakers and a plastic fruit juice bottle ” ……
Notwithstanding the plastic wrapping of his tomatoes and grapes .

All items manufactured as petroleum industry bi-products ..Roger Hallam must have a pious devotion to Just Stop Oil’s mission as much as Gail Bradbrook and her diesel powered transport and here the failed organic farmer is whining about his meagre vegan hospital rations pictured with plentiful food by his bedside.

Please note the bounty sitting on his nightstand: Milk, juice, pear (?), orange, wrapped vegetable, tomatoes, tub of humus, green grapes and other unidentifiable wrapped goodies. Poor baby.

Also please note all of the lifesaving devices derived from oil. Poor baby, again. Effing hypocrite.

A few days ago Hallam was harping on about how Extinction Rebellion was not about climate change but intact regime change
This fool is a manipulative liar who cost this country millions of pounds. Not just due to disruption but due to court hearings, prison sentences, medical treatment and hospital inpatient time.

Mike asks Hallam: “If it were an ambulance and there was someone in there that could potentially die, would you stay there?”

    “Yep,” Hallam instantly replies.

    • May 2, 2023 12:06 am

It really is a shame XR weren’t stopping traffic (and ambulances) that day. Would have been good for him to have to wait in agony for several hours. Insufferable man.

  17. April 29, 2023 10:43 pm

Just tell him they ran out of everything else because it involved fossil fuel. The knob.

  18. April 29, 2023 10:54 pm

Not just an arsehole, an entitled arsehole.
They should just give him the same as everyone else and say, just leave what you don’t want.

Shame they didnt stop oil, if they did he’d be on the floor with his leg amputated.
Oops no they wouldnt have the coal to make the steel for the saw to cut his leg off so gangrene is now his fate under the Green ideology.
So under Just stop Oil ideology you will die Mr Idiot Hallam.

The best thing about this MailOnline page is the advertisement for a shipping container.
It is almost as the two items need connecting, Hallam and hospital bed wheeled into container, throw in his push bike (manufactured as a result of fossil fuel) for good measure.
And ship the lot off to some remote island where he can grow his own carrots and potatoes and cook them how he likes.
This option has got to be cheaper and less damaging than allowing him to promote his cult of mental health destruction.

Tony Thomas did a piece on him a couple of years back: https://quadrant.org.au/opinion/doomed-planet/2020/04/the-most-disgusting-climate-cult-of-all/

“We go out and tell people that they will die. That emotionalises them. Building on that, it works like project management: we want to get these people to break the law. After that, it’s just a numbers game. If three are arrested, nobody will be scratched. If a million people are arrested, things will change.

Hallam’s running mate, Gail Bradbrook, is an adult version of Greta Thunberg, spouting pure weirdness. In a speech sponsored by HSBC Bank, she began,

I am speaking to you as a rebel, as a mother, and more than anything, a mother of life on earth … [School strikers] are not protesting, they are begging. Begging for their lives …”

    Worth a read.
