I suspect stories like this are going round all of the media:
The latest weather updates as heatwaves and flooding cause disruption across the globe. Europe is bracing for a new anticyclone dubbed Charon, a heat dome is hanging over the US, China has recorded its highest ever temperature and bodies have been pulled from a tunnel in South Korea.
They really are getting desperate now to push their climate agenda, which is increasingly becoming unpopular as people are starting to realise how much it is going to cost them.
Just one of several outright lies in this Sky article is this:
As we know, global food production keeps rising every year.
But Marsham gives the game away when he calls for the switch to renewables, and calls on the government “to act”. Does he not understand that our emissions are dwarfed by the rest of the world?
Meanwhile back in the real world, we can see that the world is not becoming an inferno, and that we have the usual mixed bag of weather, bringing warmer than normal in some places, and cooler in others.

Hmm, hot days in ever expanding cities in Mediterranean climates. Get some good old fashioned vehicle smog in there to counteract the increasing UHI effect.
The media are fast running out of superlatives —‘extreme’ is old hat: now we’ve got ‘heat storm’. And ‘severe heat storm’, no less. Whatever next?

We have a bendy jet-stream. Not a post-hoc explanation, as it was predicted for this sun-spot cycle. I would respect the handful of guys who DID predict it, and one of them is Piers Corbyn who hates with a true passion the whole CAGW crowd. Of course, the hatred is partly because of a certain political world view, but he makes his money as a weather forecaster so he has to keep the science real.
The devaluating currency of the language of asininity used by the climate fraud propagandists. None of this is based on empirical data, all instead based at best on deliberately fraudulent models and the resultant statistical output taken by arts graduates in the media as fact. As they have no facts then language inflation is all the liars and wannabe liars have to feed fear to the gullible masses.

The DEADLY heat will boil the juice in your eyeballs, explode your testicles (applies to just 10% of the various sexes) cause spontaneous combustion of your finger-nails, breastmilk to congeal in mammaries (another 10% of the various sexes) fry the faeces in your large intestine, slow cook your kidneys and liver, evaporate your red blood cells, crystalise the urine in your bladder, dessicate your alveoli, blow the snot out your nostrils, liquify your earwax so it dribbles down your cheek and into your mouth, ….oh and at least a dozen other reallygrim things. Laura Tobin on itv mentioned the fact that the record temperature in Death Valley was 57C. It was glossed over very quickly and she forgot to mention that was back in 1913!

ITV News had some Italian professor on who said the heatwave was climate, not weather – so our cool wet weather is climate, not weather. Climate is responsible for everything – if your employment depends on the climate emergency propaganda.

When I lived in Italy, admittedly a long time ago, I found that there were a very pompous lot about their qualifications. A chap with a degree was addressed as dottore in formal speech and with two degrees dottore dottore and with three degrees…
Compared to England they respected learning more. At the time I thought this was good, but my opinion about academia has changed as it has changed.
dave: I remember at a conference in Italy, having a disagreement with an Italian professor about the use of a computer model for the analysis of hypothetical accidents in nuclear reactors. He didn’t like the fact that I was validating the model for use of the model to analyse operation of the safety systems during a hypothetical accident. He seemed to think the models should be used for purely academic reasons. Weird!
Luigi Barzini wrote an interesting book called “The Italians.”
I do not know from personal experience whether the insights from that book still apply. I would imagine so, as his main point was that their ways of doing things are rooted in two thousand years of weariness and wariness.

Tackling climate change infers that it is tangible. It’s the old climate change reification fallacy. Climate change, whatever it means, is not concrete.
None of the apocalyptic predictions since Earth Day 1970 have been correct.
The word tackling is misused continually in the world of the climate ranters. Adapting would be more appropriate, far less dramatic and much cheaper.
Climate change is a 4.5 BILLION year old continuous process. There is absolutely ZERO empirical data to support absurd claims about speeding up of something the zeros do not understand. These people are desperate to promote their worthless cause.
If the warming is planetary and not regional, why is our heating coming on every day in mid July?

I get a blog called “The Honest Broker” by Roger Pielke Jr. on most days.
I guess everyone here knows Roger’s work. I’m happy to accept that he in honest and we are all indebted to him for his excellent work on historical “disasters”.
But he is strongly “Warmunist”, apparently believing that CO2 is a real problem and that Western Societies CO2 emissions have a significant effect on weather.
So whilst I read his posts, I am not planning to sign up for the paid subscription, I have more to read than I often can cope with, anyway.
But today’s post “Think of the Implications of Publishing” –

But I am shocked! Shocked I tell you, not by this case of our GangGreen Activist “Climate Scientists” managing to get a competent scientific paper by Gianluca Alimonti and colleagues, retracted by Springer’s “European Physical Journal Plus (EPJP)”. That’s just yet another yawn-fest pulled off by The Grauniad, aided and abetted by Michael Mann, Rahmstorf, Friederike Otto, of the Grantham Institute for Climate Change and a bunch of the usual, boring, venal, malicious suspects.
I’m shocked, rather, that Roger Pielke Jr. is even slightly surprised by this. Did he never read the Climategate emails?
Did he never wonder how come the views of Saint Greta of Thunderpants, or Al Gore or Kerry, or Boris & Theresa are like Holy Writ, whilst the views of Happer or Lindzen or Curry or (insert names picked from hundreds of genuine scientists) are to be wafted away as the views of BigOil stooges or the insane?
Enquiring minds would be interested to learn. But I can’t comment there without subscribing, and I won’t do that until Roger gets a grip.
Peer review was corrupted decades ago. In lots of other disciplines. I follow Matt Ridley, but he is genuinely shocked by the behaviour of various virologist over Covid origins, but this stuff goes back to the 1950s, with people like Ancel Keys. If you read Science Fictions, you get a good understanding of how the current behaviour of climate scientists is nothing new.
When he was interviewed on the news, where he was banging on about the same old nonsense about CC, I so wanted the interviewer to ask Justin Rowlatt: you’ve said that CO2 has been warming the Earth; does it also move the jet stream?

No mechanism is EVER given for how alleged “warming the earth” drives any specific weather event. US has high pressure stuck in SW. No “climate scientist” can state the mechanism by which “climate change” sticks a high pressure. It’s made up.
What they give is bizarre statistical nonsense that “climate change makes it more likely.” As if that could make something happen. And analysis usually finds that their statistic is bogus, anyway.
Climate science is middle school science fair crap. Could they just make a model volcano?
Looks like a planned campaign from the eco loons and the MSM, as soon as it gets to mid summer lets go on a hot hot hot, we are all doomed. No mention of Antarctica low temperature, -85C, or the cold in Russia.
They wheel out some unknown professor who states it all down to man made carbon dioxide and that intensely annoying Fredricka Otto from the Grantham trust (financed by Jeremy Grantham, making money from the green renewable certificates) who spouts off the party line.
In fact it is just an irregular kinky jet stream, if it is north of you ,its hot, If it is south then its cold.
It is low solar activity that is causing a drop in tropical temperatures leading to weakened wind systems. It is actually down to cooling and you would think the professor and Otto would be aware of this!

BBC wheeled out some Prof (missed the name) at lunchtime to say that Arctic ice is lower now than ever before (but then, it is Summer) yet a report (here?) says that the ice is no less than any other year and above normal long term.

After last summer I invested in a sun awning for the exposed South West elevation.
It has been broken, blown apart, by the gale of the weekend, even though the awning was not open.
Undoubtedly another disaster caused by climate change.
Whilst temps in the ‘cauldron’ of southern Europe have been temporarily trailing 5C+ above ‘normal’, such temps are neither unusual or unprecedented and, meteorologically, readily explicable without recourse to the Met Office ouija board of climate doom. I look forward to Sky News informing their viewers that temps in Tanzania for example, a country with an area greater than Spain, Italy and Greece combined, has been enduring similar temps below normal recently. It’s been a tad chillier than normal from Japan to Canada, Antarctica to Siberia, South Africa to India. Quelle surprise! What the Lord giveth the Lord taketh away. It’s just that Sky News won’t tell you that.
It’s simply a more uneven distribution of heat than the average. And of course “average” is not “normal” and any average can contain a data point far higher than current data points

Yes, both for records – modern thermometers may well record fleeting maxima that older ones did not – and for actual “warmth”. Is it really “hotter” if the temperature rapidly increases to 40 degrees at one point rather than stay at 35 degrees all day?

Yes I’d already noticed the similarities, desert/arid, depression/valley, below sea level….. Just like Furnace Creek.
It was very hot around there but 48C briefly was the nearest reading I could find.
Who knows the length of time a thermometer has been there or the quality of the weather station. It seems like one of those freak locations found by modern satellites so they go and put a thermometer there, just as they seem to use satellites to find local upland areas prone to massive rain totals and go and stick a rain gauge there.
On BBC News yesterday, a young lady (scientist?), was asked, ‘How much of the CO2 that is in the atmosphere is man made? She replied, Oh! 100%. The BBC must be getting really desperate to keep their climate hyperbole going.
This woman obviously believes that all volcanoes have stopped erupting, the Sun has stopped out- gassing C02 into the atmosphere, and all rotting vegetation has disappeared from the face of the Earth.
