Hypocrite Khan’s Airmiles
By Paul Homewood
h/t Ian Magness
Sadiq Khan, his deputies and officials have racked up more than 430,000 air miles since he was first elected London Mayor in 2016, analysis shows.
The Labour politician, who has positioned himself as a champion of environmental causes, attracted condemnation yesterday as he flew to the US for a climate summit.
He is expected to use the trip to promote his Ultra Low Emission Zone (Ulez), which he claims will reduce deaths caused by air pollution, after expanding the scheme last month.
He flew to New York with five aides to attend the UN General Assembly and take part in the Climate Ambition Summit and is also due to appear alongside Prince William at the Earthshot Prize Innovation Summit.
Mr Khan is flying despite repeatedly saying he wants to clean up the air, and analysis shows his latest trip has sent the number of air miles clocked up by him and his team to 430,000.
That is enough to fly around the world 17 times and is estimated to have pumped out 200 tons of carbon into the atmosphere.
The latest New York trip alone will account for 41,412 of the air miles total, when all six attendees and both legs of the journey are taken into account.
It comes after Mr Khan’s ‘Night Tsar’ Amy Lame – tasked with helping London’s nighttime economy thrive – jetted off to Sydney, adding a further 21,146 miles to the total. She attended the Neon international nighttime economy forum in May.
Mr Khan faced criticism for a five-day trip to the US in May last year in which he was seen schmoozing with James Corden on a rooftop terrace bar in Los Angeles after visiting a cannabis factory.

All ‘Green’ enviros are hypocrites. They have NetZero credibility.
Along with their hypocrisy, it’s their sense of entitlement that really grates. Rules for thee, not for me. 😡
Don’t do as I do; do as I say. The war cry of the frustrated parent down the ages!
The hypocrite Khan is also chair of C40, which is funded by the evil Soros empire (Open Society Foundations).
https://www.c40.org/leadership/the-chair/
https://www.opensocietyfoundations.org/who-we-are/leadership
Funded by Soros, working for China. C40 may as well stand for China40.
C40 is funded by Bloomberg, not Soros.
You are correct, but spot the difference!
Just another tentacle of the World Empire of Fascism.
Well, they don’t call him ” Sad i.Q. Can” for nothing, do they? Makes you wonder how e ever got elected: thought that masel’ when he got into , was it MAnchester? many years ago.
Awwww! Ahso! – it’s the PARTY that people vote for …. Hmm
Sad Dick Khant, you meant?
Is anybody surprised? The rich or subsidised will always do what they want whilst berating the rest of us who are not obligated to fly.
But think of all the – increased – environmental greening he has contributed by slogging round the world ……..”somebody has to do it”…
Six attendees?
While they are at it the Mail could tot up Prince William’s miles as well. I doubt if he travelled alone either.
Then there’s this
King faces criticism after he forces FOUR ministers to fly 400 miles to his private Scottish mansion for a taxpayer-funded meeting… about carbon emissions!
The King was facing criticism last night for forcing four Cabinet Ministers – including the Chancellor Jeremy Hunt – to fly 400 miles to his private mansion in Scotland for a taxpayer-funded meeting.
He was accused of an ‘outrageous waste of money’ and climate hypocrisy because the meeting was held partly to formally appoint the new Net Zero Minister in charge of cutting carbon emissions.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12527313/King-faces-criticism-forces-FOUR-ministers-fly-400-miles-private-Scottish-mansion-taxpayer-funded-meeting-carbon-emissions.html
Is the King a new Prime Minister?
No, he just thinks he is and the lickspittles who attended the summons didn’t have the guts to put him back in his box.
Unfortunately, many Brits want a royal family.
Wanted a royal family headed by Queen Elizabeth II but not headed by some amoral, entitled, green loon?
Would you prefer a President then Micky?
Like Creepy Joe Biden or Tony B Liar?
I prefer things how they are, at least our Royal Family haven’t started a war for a century or two!
” Would you prefer a President then Micky? ”
I don’t want a head of state.
From here on the west side of the Atlantic, I see little difference between elitist rule and monarchy.
Though I presume one of the royal family’s forebears must have done something good. There had to be some way the royal family became the royal family.
Either way, the people are subjects, not citizens. People exist to serve, not to be served.
How many ‘climate summits’ does it take to achieve anything useful?
Khan…’was seen schmoozing with James Corden on a rooftop terrace bar in Los Angeles after visiting a cannabis factory’. Let’s see the job description of Mayor of London 🙄
Can somebody force him to release pollution figures for tube stations?
He doesn’t serve the people of London. He considers them a problem.
But a great thing about democracy is the people get what you vote for. No sorries for London; they voted for him. And likely will vote for him again.
The problem is that while he sabotages the capital of the country, he makes things much worse not just for the residents of London but for many people who have to work there commuting from outside London and for many visitors, including business visitors who are left with negative impression that does not help business growth for London and the country.
The destruction of prosperity is a feature.
Why do they not meet on zoom, it is just an excuse for a jolly. Earthshot is also just a vanity project, last years winners were a methylated spirit stove (my parents had one on the 1950’s for making tea on picnics), a square polytunnel, so it made a greenhouse and plastic from seaweed, failing to remember that cellulose was discovered in 1838 and mass produced celluloid in 1870, the first thermosetting plastic. Made from tree and plant fibre!
You know it is just getting worse, as reality bites on the impossibility of net zero, the climate zeolites are turning up the hysteria.
Zoom? It is a gathering of elites. They must be present to win.
Hey GC, following on from this article, the Guardian highlights Khan’s alleged “influence” in getting congestion charging in New York.
“This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to make New York City better. We really want this to be a success, like in London, so it can be copied in other cities in the US.”
https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/sep/18/london-facing-45c-days-in-foreseeable-future-mayor-sadiq-khan-warns
Coming to a city near you? Or is this the onset of Civil War 2?
Khan is selling hate and envy.
Communists hate freedom. His plan is a way to curtail freedom. The elites will love the idea! The people who voted for him will feel rewarded! A great day! And you gripe about his flying? They don’t care.
The plan is the end of prosperity. Communists are okay with starving, as long as everyone is starving. It’s only fair. Why should you have bread when others don’t?
“Communists are okay with starving, as long as everyone is starving.”
Around six decades ago I travelled behind the Iron Curtain.
In conversation with one of the locals – when he was sure he wouldn’t be overheard – he observed that you could easily tell the Communists, they were the ones in the big black cars.
Seems they won the Cold War after all!
Mr. Catz, I concur with your assessment of the Cold War–the Marxist won. In the U.S. they were the subject of the McCarthy Hearings of the House UnAmerican Activity Committee–not Lil Kevy, Tail-Gunner Joe–but that faded. The left had a big revival during the Vietnam War when they proceeded to take over the Academy. Near as I can tell, the decade of strikes and energy shortage in 1970’s left them firmly entrenched in the UK. I read once in An Old Book, “The more things change the more they stay the same.”
Mr weazle, me thinks Joe McCarthy was RIGHT!
But interestingly:Rishi Sunak avoiding UN summit after being warned about potential rejection
https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2023/sep/09/rishi-sunak-avoiding-un-climate-summit-over-potential-rejection
If Sunak is excluded because the UK lacks ambition then, judging by what most of the rest of the World is doing, the meeting will take place in an empty room.
“But Guterres has stipulated that only countries that can show they have ambitious policies to reduce their emissions in line with the goals of the Paris agreement would be allowed to participate in the climate ambition summit, the segment of the meeting of world leaders dedicated to the climate crisis.”
I’m.unclear why you need a summit of those who are doing what they are supposed to be doing? But then why would logic get in the way of such venal, arrogant people?
Sunak only needs to threaten the UN will cutting funding and they will soon get in to line.
He would never have the guts to do that. He has the backbone of an ameoba.
As Phoenix says below, what bizarre logic says only those doing what they feel are right should be allowed to attend? What is even worse is that by all objective metrics the UK is actually (unfortunately) probably the “best” performing major economy (world’s 5th largest) in the world anyway. No doubt the brain dead German delegates (close low carbon nuclear to burn more coal) will be there and they are, again objectively, the “Sick man of Europe” by their own entry conditions.
Typical Scum Grauniad spin though.
Because it is a gathering of elites. Climate creds are the criteria for being elite. The elites get to choose who is elite, for any reason they choose.
Like a high school cliche.
Cirrusly, exactly like a high school cliche.
The irony is that the dumb Germans are now importing nuclear energy from France they could have made themselves. A youth movement in support of nuclear energy is now growing in Germany.
Thank you for your posts. Stop picking on The Sick Boy of Europe, as they are looking at a long, cold, hungry Winter. Have you ever seen the MEME of the long extension cord running from a French nuclear power plant to a German wind farm? Good stuff.
as he flew to the US for a climate summit
And that tells us all we need to know about these tools.
Talk about hypocrisy. I had an over priced coffee yesterday at Grotford Gap services on the M1. I notice they have lots of new EV charging points from Gridserve. And behind the chargers are rows of generators providing the electricity for the ’emmissions free’ EV’s. What a joke.
” …is estimated to have pumped out 200 tons of CARBON into the atmosphere.”
I do wish that journalists and others would stop conflating carbon with CO2. They are NOT they same and they are NOT interchangeable. It is deceitful and dishonest. Carbon can be a polluter when burnt but CO2 is a colourless, odourless, non-noxious gas which is essential to ALL life on earth and the planet would actually benefit from an increase in atmospheric CO2 from current levels.
Save your breath. Unfortunately that particular battle was lost a long time ago.
Ask your typical Green acolyte what a diamond is made of. It confuses the crap out of them when you make them find out, particularly when you tell them what graphite is made of.
I once convinced a group of eco warriors that Avogadro’s Number was a secret cabal of Italian eco terrorists and also I had a contact number for them. I gave them this place’s number https://www.avogadros.com
One of them actually rang it which is when they got really pissed off with me!
Ask them what the heck are we are going to do about all the argon in the atmosphere. There’s 23X more than CO2.
Few know argon is the third most abundant material in the atmosphere.
Yep GC it’s also the daughter product from the decay of K40 which has a radioactive half life of 1.25billion years. Tell some people that and they get really worried.
Let’s face it, they weren’t paying attention in their science lessons, and gave them up asap to work towards their media studies or politics degrees. As for carbon, diamonds are pretty useful, but the compound, CO, is noxious. I’m sure many of these types don’t know the difference between CO and CO2. Even the guy that installed our wood burner told us we had to have a CO2 meter!
I assume that the CO2 emissions were 44/12 times as much.
I have been trying to persuade Mr Khan to confirm the existence of the ULFZ or Ultra Low-Flying Zone for all non-compliant aircraft flying over and/or landing in the ULEZ. The ULEZ rules state “As Heathrow Airport will be firmly situated within the ULEZ zone, there is no way to drive in and out of the airport with a non-compliant vehicle without incurring a charge”. So under ULFZ each non-compliant aircraft will be charged at the ULEZ rate per passenger.
If you want to get a really large collection of private jets in one place, what is the easiest way to do it?
Organize a climate conference.
Ha ha, exactly.
You rewound have thought, that after all this time and do,cso many climate summits, that they would have run out of things to say.
But then what would all these people do?
Khan is a champion of nothing but the Muslim Bloc Vote.
This country has a government and it should be the ONLY entity representing the UK. Local officials have no business purporting to represent UK interest’s and we should fine the UN by reducing contributions by a hefty number.
He’s there to represent London elites. Elites transcend government.
A new (and reliably more absurd) scare story, every day from Mayor Khan(t) it appears…
https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/sep/18/london-facing-45c-days-in-foreseeable-future-mayor-sadiq-khan-warns
They really don’t feel they need to be in touch with reality or science any more do they? I wonder if this sort of nonsense will precipitate a revolt from at least some scientists. They must understand that such politicisation will in time cause them problems.
Reality is just a right-wing invention to confuse people.
A measly 430K? This guy has got a long way to go to beat U.S. Climate Czar, John Kerry’s record.
Comrade Khant flies coach obviously?
Are all these miles by private jet or conventional aircraft? I don’t like the bloke but I think the article should have made this clear.
He should be thanked for keeping the airline industry going.
like John Kerry he is very impotent (sic) and needs to be in many sunny places all the time. ( sunny places: exotic destinations in English).
ULEZ is supposed to benefit Londoners health and reduce the huge number of lives lost to pollution from cars.
Where are all these dead bodies that succumbed to sor pollution? Where are the death certificates?
I remember the”pea soup” fogs /smogs long gone. Has anyone in the last 30 years actually got sick from car pollution? I seriously doubt it.
” Has anyone in the last 30 years actually got sick from car pollution? I seriously doubt it.”
There are many causes of poor air quality inside homes. The air quality inside many London homes is worse than on many London streets.
We cleaned up the air 50 years ago, but “cleaner air” is still in the communists’ playbook.
A functioning press would point that out.
Steve Milloy at junkscience.com answers your question: “No.”
When you live under the thumb of a Pathocracy–rule by psychopaths–the rules are about control, and nothing more. see Political Ponerology by Andrew Lobaczewski 2022, Red Pill Press.
If you miss the pea soup fog/smog, you can board a plane to China or India where deadly smog greets one every day. I would not recommend this, but for the truly nostalgic types–and eco-activists, it could be an eye-opening experience.
Dear Mr Homewood
A couple of interesting videos on air quality in various places in and around London:

Scroll down for the map.
Mr Khan is an amateur in the air miles stakes. I knew a chap who flew 940,000 miles in one year. He was Delta Airlines second most frequent flyer.

Hypocrite is a mild term for Saddo Kahn
