Crocodile Eats Woman–Must Be Because Of Climate Change!!

They still can’t resist mentioning climate change!
When Sariah went to fetch water in a pit near her home in Bangka Island, Indonesia, last September, she was unaware that a 3m-long saltwater crocodile had been resting in the crater, watching as she filled one of her buckets.
"The water was calm and there was no sign of a crocodile, so I decided to take a bath. Suddenly, it appeared out of nowhere and bit me, dragging me by my left arm into the water," the 54-year-old says.
Indonesia sees the most saltwater crocodile attacks in the world. In the past decade, there have been about 1,000 attacks, killing more than 450 people. Nearly 90 of these attacks took place in Bangka and its neighbouring Belitung island, according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
Bangka island is one of the richest tin-mining regions in the world.
The island – almost the size of Hawaii – has a population of one million, and about 80% of them are miners. More than 60% of the island’s land has already been converted into tin mines, says wildlife conservation group Walhi. Many of these mines are illegal.
Decades of tin exploitation have stripped the island of its forest, leaving behind thousands of vast craters and pits that resemble a lunar landscape. And as land deposits diminish, miners are turning to the sea.
That means saltwater crocodiles, which can also live in freshwater, are squeezed out of their natural habitats. Now they are living in abandoned and active mining pits close to people’s homes, contributing to the rise in attacks.
Last year’s prolonged dry season, driven by climate change, dried up the well in front of Sariah’s house. Her water supply was cut after she fell behind on payments for three months. So, the abandoned pits were the only source of water for her family and many others.
Five days after the attack on Sariah, a miner in the island was almost killed by a crocodile when he was washing tin ore in another pit. He suffered injuries in his head, shoulder and an arm.

There is no evidence that “last year’s prolonged dry season was driven by climate change”.
On the contrary, drought in Indonesia is driven by El Nino cycles, along with a positive Indian Ocean Dipole. El Nino = dry in Australia and Indonesia; La Nina means wet:
This year has seen a return to El Nino conditions. The Indonesian drought has also been exacerbated by the positive Indian Ocean Dipole this year:

Dipole Mode Index (DMI)
The DMI index is an indicator of the east-west temperature gradient across the tropical Indian Ocean, linked to the Indian Ocean Dipole or Zonal Mode. It is calculated as the difference of the WTIO and SETIO indices. Extreme September-October-November rainfall in tropical East Africa has associated with periods of persistently high DMI (Black et al.,Mon. Wea. Rev., 2003; this paper can be accessed via the AMS Web site here).
In the full series case, monthly averages are shown by the plus signs, three month running mean filtered index values are shown by the shaded regions. In the "last two years" case, weekly averages are shown by the plus signs and the monthly average values are shown by the shaded regions. The weekly standard deviation of the index over the period 1982-2005 is indicated on the plot.
This index was defined by Saji et al. (Nature, 1999).

El Ninos, Dipoles and droughts have always happened, and always will.
Just as crocodiles still eat women!

Lazy journalism again. Once climate change is the nailed on culprit it has the remarkable effect of shutting down brains. Where’s the investigation and proper analysis? Any fool can see the problem here is environmental damage caused by illicit mining (Congo cobalt mines anyone?).Another agenda driven article of group- think drivel.
‘Last year’s prolonged dry season, driven by climate change’
That ‘climate change’ is amazing! Just yesterday Sky reported that ‘climate change’ causes MORE RAIN!
‘It has a lot to do with the unusually warm seas it crossed as it tracked up from Portugal and the Bay of Biscay to the UK.’
It meant more water evaporated into the atmosphere. And because the air is relatively warm too, all that moisture got transported with the storm system to fall as rain over Britain.’
‘Why Indonesia can’t stop crocodile attacks’
They can. They choose not to. The article says it is illegal to kill a croc, EVEN IF it attacks people!
Climate change must make Indonesians less appetising to crocs. It grabbed her by the arm and she lived to tell the tale. In fact it didn’t even bother to eat her arm by the sounds of it. The poor beast must have spat her out almost immediately. That’s climate change for you – starving crocs by making humans unpalatable.
“She says she is lucky to be alive, but it still hurts when she moves her left hand or fingers.”
Forget crocodiles, check out tigers:

Does anyone know when and who the last climate sceptic to appear on any of the BBC’s output?
In a response to a complaint they said
“Contrasting or dissenting views are not automatically excluded but the BBC seeks to give due weight to the range of relevant perspectives. Minority views on the causes of climate change will not, therefore, be given the same prominence or weight as the opinion of the majority of relevant climate scientists.”
Which is different from a de facto ban
Different? It’s a de facto ban w/word salad.
GBNews is punished by Ofcon, whoops Ofcom for not having balance. Why is the BBC excused? Is it because Ofcom includes many ex-BBC types?
A simple answer to the Indonesian problem would be for all salt water crocodiles to be fitted with auto-wind alarm clocks. As recommended by Captain Hook, the loud ticking noise would alarm residents of the approach of a crocodile. Together with advice not to smile at the approaching ticking crocodile, it would provide early warning not only of the danger but, from carefully collated statistics, of the increasing threat from ‘climate change’
I am sure that the UN and other agencies will sponsor the search for Governmental funding of such a worthwhile intiative….
Good post.
And I recommend that all ClimateChange© believers are the ones to ‘bell’ the crocodiles.
So I think I get it. Climate change is causing an increase in tin mining, I guess because … I dunno, but I won’t question it. At the same time, climate change has caused utility-supplied water in that area to have fees.
Well, the logic may be a little bumpy, but it hardly matters. I don’t think we should look into it too closely, we should just treat this as a moral truth and relate to it at an emotional level. Remember the golden rule for modern living: “experts say”. You can be grateful they’ve already done the thinking for us.
The main thing to note is that the shameful carbon decadence of middle-class people in the UK specifically, is responsible for Shariah’s close call with a crocodile.
