As global leaders gather at the COP28 summit in Dubai, environmental activists around the world are still challenging climate sceptics. Young people from five countries told BBC News how they are trying to change the minds of those who wrongly claim climate change is not real.
Growing up in Egypt, artist Hossna Hanafy didn’t think climate change was a real issue. "I never thought it was a global thing, or that it might be related to human behaviour," she says.
As the planet gets warmer and the polar ice caps melt, scientists say that Ms Hanafy’s home city of Alexandria, located on the Mediterranean coast, is at risk from rising sea levels.
Yet at school, she says her teachers mocked suggestions this might be the case, wrongly claiming this would "never happen".

Meanwhile back in the real world, sea levels in Alexandria have risen by about an inch during young Hossna’s life.
Maybe she should pay more attention to her teachers in future, who clearly know what they are talking about.

The Earth’s climate has been changing for billions of years. Once again, the believers are attempting to conflate “climate change” with “dangerous climate change created by humans”

All sources of energy are free, Ms Hanafy: it’s just costs money to harness it. That is what you should be teaching children.
And oil, gas and coal have much greater energy density than wind or solar. Or burning wood as was discovered by our ancestors as they took mankind forward as opposed to the retards we have today taking us back it time.

They have not been taught to distinguish dangerous climate change from varied climates recorded in history and palaeoclimatology. Education is at fault. No basic scientific method of testing hypotheses is evident. A series of hot or cold years becomes evidence of the change of “climate” when they cannot define “climate ” properly. Is that a lack of teaching of Language or of Thinking?

I have asked BBC Verify to verify why this article is on BBC Verify as they are not actually verifying anything at all. It is easy to do and the link is on the BBC article above. May I suggest everyone on here does the same and start to force the issue against the BBC’s obvious propaganda campaign. Who on earth does this Marco Silva think he is? Is the BBC just his platform to disinform? Act like an activist and piss them off with a taste of their own medicine.

No success, but he’ll keep trying. “People not profit” doesn’t seem to be much of an argument.

Based on what? The climate today where I am looks exactly as it did 10, 20, 50 and 100 years ago. The only change is very small differences in an arbitrary average versus another arbitrary average. They define time periods to show “change”. That’s not proof and it’s not science.
They don’t understand that without “profit” there are no jobs, no hospitals & medicine, no cushy Uni degrees, not enough clothes, warmth, food or clean water, no transport.
They are brainwashed and not educated.
Profit enables decadent Bangladeshi youth.
Why can’t we just keep it simple. Yes climate change to real as the climate has always changed. AGW and it’s catastrophic outcomes are what skeptics like me discuss.
I trust these activists are listing all the “successful” predictions climate science has made over the last 30 years so thry can see how “right” it is.
The paid prophets of doom to their surprise have discovered no negative impacts of being wrong especially when the “media” outlets who over promote their prognostications, completely ignore mentioning when they NEVER pan out. Indeed outright fraud is now legitimate in support of “the cause” because they “mean well”. The award of a professorship was the “penalty” given to a certain “scientist” who was behind the hockeyshtik. Now the only thing you will notice is that they cynically now push their baseless predictions out 50 years into the future rather than the 10 which was so common before. How many completely worthless careers have been created during the past 40 odd years since the founder promoter of the fraud, Hansen pontificated.

If anyone is filling children’s heads with lies re: climate change then it’s the medjia (particularly the BBC) and teachers.
The people behind this are serious. Teachers do not use books any more. They go to the internet and at least one of the most used is taken over by wokists and climatistas. It is therefore easy for “teachers” to make excuses when accused of indoctrination because the websites like Times etc are full of left wing propaganda masquerading as education material. God help us when those kids come out of education into the world with such misaligned moral compasses.
Years ago my kids asked for help with some homework as what they were seeing was not what I had discussed with them. Looking at the syllabus and sample questions I foolishly engaged in a long, arduous and ultimately fruitless series of exchanges with the school, the examining board and others, that made dealing with BBC Complaints seem like getting through to customer service first ring and being offered a full refund plus compo.
The questions, and hence answers, were flat out wrong, or misleading.
Interestingly some junior teachers privately agreed and said they had to teach two ways; one to satisfy the blob from headmaster upwards, and side chats to encourage rational thought and a questioning attitude in later life.

I saw similar a few years ago, although I wasn’t directly involved and it was nothing to do with climate change. I now realise that the Local Education Authority (local council) was institutionally corrupt i.e. an organisation that attempted to protect itself by concealing or denying failings.
You could fill the Royal Albert Hall with them! It has long been an observation of mine that most people far from being bad are just plain cowards and will go along with any garbage as long as it keeps them in a job and in the middle of the pack. We know from 20th Century history what happens when too many of them look the other way when the small cadre of the bad and malevolent set about their business.
Small numbers of bad actors are surrounded and protected by large numbers of useful idiots because the bad actors know those people can be bought ever so cheaply with their 30 pieces of silver.
My children, now in their mid 40s, were filled with fears about global warming when in junior school – it was all about fluorocarbons in those days. Sadly I never imagined they wouldn’t be taught better sense in senior school.
The real problem is the Dept for Education which sets the curriculum. The exam boards set the exams according to the curriculum. Teachers have to teach according to the curriculum or it might damage their students results in the exams and affect their future life chances.
Some teachers may well discuss ‘off curriculum’ matters with the students but warn them not to comment on such in the exams
I think they can bundle BBC verify and their strangely partisan fact checkers under a single title. BBC Pravda!

Who taught him that? And does BBC Verify Unit actually verify that what he is saying is true? I’d love to hear their answer.
Yep. Just ask the teacher “Who will be paying your rather generous pension if no one made any profit, that was taxed?”.
Can’t find a link but I recently read a piece about child to teenager to adult personal development and how education has materially changed it.
My year group was the last you could leave school at 15 and the majority still did. Staying on to 16 thence 18 and university (as I did and probably many others posting here) was the reserve of a very small percentage.
Those leaving at 15 (thence 16) were largely introduced to adults (other than their immediate family) parents as apprentices, juniors, shop and manual workers etc and interacted with a wide and differing range of ages, views, lifestyles etc. They personally and emotionally developed in regard to this diversity.
Now, however, with the Blair 50% students, the whole group remains institutionalised mixing mostly only with their own age group often right until their mid twenties. The adults they mingle with on a day to day basis are (allegedly) there to cater for their every “pastoral” needs (gotta keep the money rolling in) and to reinforce their molly coddled status AND opinions. They are cossetted by “free” money and overly protective parents.
Rather than forming their own opinions and views from life experience (the University of hard knocks) and reality, they then move as peer groups as a self affirming cohort.
The object here is to indoctrinate them when very young and from then on reality will not get in the way until they are too set in the mould to possibly think any differently.
Interestingly the article went on to say those who did not go to university (the other 50% plus those that managed to not get counted) and followed the former route were hugely more worldly wise and less likely to be easily duped.
So there is still hope!

I would like the BBC to investigate the source of funding that permits children to travel internationally for propaganda purposes.

Part of the list of mantra phrases, “warming world”, heat trapping gases”, “melting Arctic”, “hottest ever”, “more extreme weather” and a whole load more.
Funny how recent human history is ignored (Minoan, Roman and Medieval warm periods) because it does not fit the narrative. The same goes for geological history, which shows that NEVER over the whole of geological history has there been a correlation of any kind between surface temperature and atmospheric concentration of CO2. Strange do you not think to learn that this SCIENCE is not public knowledge, especially as we are lectured at that science (I would suggest political science) under pins their religion.
If Paul buys a snorkel and a ticket to Alexandria, he can swimsout a half mile and can look down on the jetty were Caesar landed.
If his numbers are correct, and he walks six blocks inland on coming ashore, all the land he traverses will be underwater before Miss Hessna turns 80.
The rate of sea level increase is unchanged for more than 100 years. It’s not the result of petrol burning.
